SCAMMERS-- Beware. I booked Hawx for a one time service visit in October. Low and behold 4 months later I've had just as many recurring charges -- without a single service visit! And even though an agent previously told me my account had been closed out after my first bill. When I called to inquire why I was still being billed, an incredibly snarky customer service agent kept repeating the mantra "these are valid changes and they will not be refunded" apropos of nothing. This company promises the moon and delivers nothing. The techs that show up a combination of brilliant ineptitude and looking like somebody that lives under a bridge. Customer service is a great experience right up to the point you have committed to a service contract, afterwards you are ghosted. I'm now on day three trying to cancel my service and they keep putting me on hold for 30-40 minutes at a time and then bouncing me around to different people who can never actually help... "have to get you to an account specialist" ...30 minutes on hold.... to which the next person tells me (after explaining everything all over again "You need to talk to a supervisor" ....20 min on hold.... To which the person that picks up the phone says, "yeah you have to talk to Luis.... He will call you later to discuss your account." This is a tree story and reflects my experience in the most honest manner. I feel like I have signed a contract with the mafia. I don't know what's going on, but I feel I may have to get an attorney. I used to dread going to the DMV or canceling my DIRECTV subscription.... Then worst customer service experiences I have had to date in my adult life. This company has taken me to an all new low. I believe perhaps legal action is necessary to bring some legitimate focus onto this company and its business practices. As far as their product performance goes, I had them treating my house for several months and never really experienced a change to our pest issues. Then we had an infestation of water bugs or the really large cockroaches that come in from outside when it gets warm. Called them to have them treat my property for these insects. The next morning, I woke up to three more bugs in my house. I called them back and was told it would be a week before someone could come out to help (not at all what I was told when I signed up... you know, "we will treat your home and if you have any issues with pests, call us back as we will be right back out to make it right." ...your experience WILL vary. They didn't care. Ultimately, the treatment and protection they promised for the exterior of my house never materialized, had the same bugs same issues I had before I started treatments to my home. I was told i would be charged a quarterly fee of $60 but they have been charging me monthly for 3 months. Their pest control services DO NOT WORK. At least not at my home. I still have as many visible bugs as i did when they knocked on my door telling me about their services including trying to gain customers in my area and flip reviews here on yelp. Im currently on a 40 minute (and counting) hold. They must be understaffed or very busy. I felt a message yesterday, still no word from him. A young man came to our front door advertising a ONE-TIME $40 pest control service. I thought that was a good price and figured it'd save me the hassle so I said why not. The following day, a technician came--who was very nice mind you--did his work, and left. I thought it was a pleasant experience and wondered how well the service would hold. To my dismay, about a month later, I got a charge for $50 from Hawx. Puzzled, I called customer service and told them very clearly that the rep made NO MENTION of a recurring charge and/or subscription. They said they were really sorry about that and told me that an account manager would call me the following day to process the refund. At this point, I thought they had made an honest mistake in charging me, given how quick they were to grant my refund request, so I shrugged it off and put it out of my mind. Another month went by and ANOTHER charge hit my account. That's when I realized no one had ever called me to process the refund. Noticeably annoyed at this point, I called Hawx again, only this time they said there was no record of a refund ever being offered to me either by email or phone and that they don't process refunds outside of the mandatory 3-day California waiting period. After explaining the situation with a rep for half an hour, requesting a supervisor, getting denied, and having my blood pressure go up, I decided to give in about the refund and simply requested that my policy be canceled so that I don't receive any more monthly charges. That's when the rep told me that there's a $210 cancellation fee. $210. Just to cancel and to not receive a single additional service from them. I threatened litigation, reporting them to the BBB, etc, but of course it was to no avail. But again, rather than getting further bent out of shape, I just chalked it up to a life lesson and let them go. Hawx is a terrible company and one that should be avoided at all costs. Do not give them your business under any circumstance. Oh, and the kicker was their service DID NOT EVEN WORK. I had ants in my house 2 weeks after the technician came and went. The worst! First, I've been a customer for quarterly pest control for years and things were fine. Then I decided to have them deal with my termites. Sales guy was super nice and really made me feel like I would be taken care of. Then, the day came for them to do my subterranean termites and I was told they would have to drill into my cement to do so. I requested to not be there so I could take the dogs away. I come home and it looked like nothing was done. They came back to set rodent traps a few days later and I asked if they had done the treatments that I was told needed to be done and had paid for in my contract. The guy said no, he didn't know he was "supposed to." Well then what did I give them $2k to do?! He said he would take care of it that day. So, he did but in the process he unplugged my extension cord in my garage to plug in his equipment and didn't plug it back in. Well, it was the power to my chest freezer. It held 10 weeks worth of just food for dogs very $$ dog food and all of my meat (~$700-800 worth of food). By the time I smelled something in the garage 6 days later all the food had thawed and spoiled. I get people make mistakes, and if they had just owned up to it, apologized and reimbursed me for what I had lost I would have been okay. But no, they wouldn't take responsibility, made excuses and refused to own up the their mistake and take care of their customers. Then after I talked to the first person they canceled all my services including the rodent trapping I had already paid for! They then no showed the next day and I was up early and waited for them for 4 hours for them to not even show up! Awful business! After they wouldn't take responsibility and refused to reimburse me for what I lost, I cancelled my quarterly service and my future tenting. Untrustworthy company. Wow, I always read reviews. Didn't this time and PAYING $$$ for it! Hired for mosquito problem. They sprayed first time. Got bites every day still. Next service (every 15 days for $79), still receiving many bites EVERY DAY. Just not working. Had to cancel. Cost $327 total!! $39 the first spray, $79 the second spray, $209 for early cancellation! They initially offered $39.99 promo per month for 1 year or a quarterly visit. I paid them via bank auto pay worth 479.88 for 12mo. Contract and can be cancelled after 1 yr.I started June 2022 and ended June 2023 The first job was ok but the 3 other job was terrible. I still have pest on my yard and cobwebs. The technician won't even call and will only show up to service my front yard and not my back yard. I emailed and message them multiple times to tell them about the bad service and told them im not renewing my contract that ended last May. They said i cannot cancel via email or text that i have to call customer service to cancel which I've done multiple times but no one answers the call even if i kept on holding for an hour. Then I received a text message last Friday that i have a payment due for $80.68. I already paid my last bill in May and yet they are still billing me for a new contract which i did not approved. My last pest service with them was last April 30 and never seen them after that. I just read their 1 star review at Yelp and saw a lot of people with similar case as mine. They even threaten me with cancellation fee if I don't pay and if I end my contract with them. I'm the one who was victimized here for a bad quarterly service (4 times in a year) and yet I have to pay them a monthly of $39.99. I signed up with a door to door salesman. Charged $60. First treatment was a couple days later. After treatment still had spider webs all over. I left them thinking if the spiders are dead the webs would go away with a little time. A couple weeks later spiders were everywhere. I called for a second treatment. Tech came and spent about 10 minutes spraying. I asked what he sprayed. He said, "around the base of the house, garage and sheds. I asked if he sprayed under the eves, furniture, tables etc. He said they are told not to because of possible contact. I said," That's where the spiders are. If you don't spray where they are how will you get rid of them? Please spray them." I assume he did and then got the stick to clean webs. When he left I walked around and found webs almost everywhere. I got the couple I pointed to and nothing else. I called the dispatcher and asked what the techs are told to do. He offered to send someone else out. I asked 3 times to the same response. I said, "I asked the same question 3 times and you have not answered. Please let me speak with a supervisor. She also would not tell me what the techs are told but gave me a $50 credit and said she would have someone out the following Tuesday between 9 and 10am. I thought she meant 9 and 12 but hoped I was wrong. 11:25am Tuesday the tech called as said he was running a few minutes late and would be a little after 12. 12:45 I called and canceled the service and requested to cancel the contract. They had 3 chances to do the service right and failed 3 times. A couple days later I received a call from an account mgr. After some time discussing me canceling he asked if he could call the branch mgr. to see if we could figured something out He said he would call back in 15 minutes. About half an hour later he texted, everyone is in a meeting and it will take a little longer to call back. I got a call back a week later from someone else. He offered to send out the branch mgr. I said when I didn't hear back for a week I bought spray and took care of it myself. I no longer need their service as they had dropped the ball. Now they want a $199 early cancelation fee. If they had done their job in the first place all would be good. If they had followed up as they said they would in any time frame they set themselves all would be good. They did none of that. I did my part. I paid the bills, and then I did their job for them. They broke their part of the contract not me. Now we are fighting over the cancelation fee. We'll see how it goes. read more

They harrass you by calling from many different phone numbers, even after requesting them 3 separate times to take your phone number off the account (I don't live at the address anymore). Then they'll lie to you saying you signed a contract that makes you responsible for the payment.( I was a minor when they came to my house and set up the account, I didn't sign anything! ) They lie to scare and bully you into paying, theyll cheat you with fees they aren't transparent about, and that's just dealing with customer service. I needed a pest control company to take care of bugs we found after we moved into our new home. I contacted Hawx pest control after talking to a couple other pest control services who were way to pushy on the phone. I talked to Curtis Jackson who was helpful and professional on the phone. We came to an agreement on a time and price and I signed a contract for 1 year of services. We set up a time and the day came for our first house call. Fabian called and was early for the house call. Great service and he had patience explaining everything he was going to do and answered all our questions. We thought this was a good choice for service. We were told to wait a few weeks and see how our big problem is then. Well after 3 weeks we still have the same amount of bugs we had before! I called Hawx and they set up another follow up for the following week. Tuesday Oct. 18 th came out appt was between 8 and 10 am so I stayed home from work to meet the technician missing out in my sales job so I was out hourly wage plus commission for at least 3 hours! Hawx was a no show! No phone call or any contact at all. I had to call them, talked to Amber the first time and got no where and left on forever hold! After 3 more calls I was sent to a supervisor and sat on hold for 30 minutes 13 seconds and have a screen shot with the phone number and hold time. I called back again and talked to Malia she was helpful and told me the tech that was supposed to show up called in sick! Again no call from Hawx even though they new their tech called in sick. Now I'm on a call back list because there was no supervisor to tak to. I will have to call another pest control company now and will have to take the cancellation cost which will be $200. Turns out they signed him up for a 1yr contract he couldn't get out of unless he paid $1,200. That's a straight up lie and when I called to have them cancel it, the only guy who was supposed to help us didn't want to AT ALL. I asked him about his sales guys telling my grandpa it was a 6 month deal and they had in their system a contract for 1yr. He said he wasn't responsible for his sales people. Like WTF??!! What kind of a company doesn't take responsibility for what their sales people is doing? That just blows my mind. The reason I'm the first place why my grandpa wanted to cancel is that they did a HORRIBLE job to begin with. The termite things that were supposed to be all the way in the floor were left sticking way out of the ground where anyone could trip on them. To top it off they didn't even finish the job and just left those green things on the floor along with holes everywhere when they promised my grandpa their be back to finish the job. I have never worked with a service that was unreliable and unprofessional as Hawx's. I signed up for monthly visits as u I had a bad spider and ant problem. The times they came were good and fixed the problem, but I let them know they HAVE to notify me to schedule an appointment to show up because I have a gate and the house isn't accessible without me being home. Of course, they continued 5 different times to show up to my house without any prior warning expect a call saying they were 15 minutes out. After this, I would get a receipt and say my service was completed but the backyard was in-accessible (which is completely false as they couldn't even enter the front of the property. Anyway, month pass and this keeps happening and I've given up on even trying to have them come out to my house anymore. My account subscription ends this month and I get a call 3 days ago asking me how the services were, if I had any feedback and if I would like to renew my subscription because they are offering a lower price. I kindly say no I do not want to renew and that was that. I only found out my account was ending in February because I looked online, but the phone call had ZERO information on when my account was ending, simply if I just wanted to renew. Today I get a "early cancellation fee" email... charging me $210 for cancelling my account early when the phone call simply asked if I'd like to renew once my subscription has ended. Anyway, I'm a very patient person and this experience has tested every ounce of my patience. I was told specifically that the offer was low because "they were new to the area and that their trucks were already in the area." Initially called their local Service Manager, Cameron, for help. NO contact after promising to call me back. Called CORP. H.Q. where I did get excellent service to resolve my issue of being scammed. I then get a call from Cameron asking me what I wanted!! I told him that I wanted in writing that MY ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED AND PAID IN FULL. Cameron then stated that could only happen IF I paid the EARLY CONTRACT PENALTY!!! It wasn't intended to have it, due to door-to-door sale guy bumped into my front door and offered for the quick insecticide spray for a bargain price of $49.99. He did not disclose anything about the future services nor mention the next schedule of coming back and yet my credit card was charged multiple times since then with no services provided whatsoever except for the 1st one. It's even worst, when they contacted me to have the service on Nov28,22. I response to their email and state that no service needed. They said I must contact their office to cancel the contract. Contract????? be aware of the term "Contract" that NEVER mention at first time, no disclosure whatsoever, so becareful when the sale guy asked you to sign on the portal tablet, no copy provided. The best part of this is the "PENALTY" $200.00 charge to cancel the service. It is totally Scam, from the begin to the end. I can agree with all the reviews on yelp and on pest control websites along with the BBB where we have reported Hawx. They make sure to train their sales reps properly to scam you into thinking their contracts are non binding and then when you try as cancel, because their chemicals don't work no matter how many times in between services you have them come out, they then try to charge you a fee for the "discount" they gave you for signing up, also known as a yearly fee. For everyone who is struggling with their contract please be advised that Hawx is also in breach other their contract if they cannot provide you with the promised pest control and never get rid of your pests then they are not upholding their end of the contract. Remember, you are BOTH liable to keep your end up of the contract, do not let them bully you into paying the so called "fees" they are speaking of.
