If you don't like the Hibachi show but like the food then this is where you should come. The food is very similar to the restaurant at 82nd but you won't find any hibachi in the dining area. They do have an extensive Sushi and Sashimi menu. The whole menu is expanded. The food is good. read more

This would be an excellent place for appetizers and drinks, possibly even sushi, but it was not what we ordered tonight. We had an incredibly inattentive waiter. He did nothing for us until a woman that I assume is a manager fussed at him gently. He took our drink order, me water and my husband tea and came back with them 10 minutes later and promptly left. Once again we saw the manager person prompt him to take our order and he shuffled over and got our appetizer order and with me calling after him to let us order our entrees he shuffled off again not to return until prompted to bring our appetizer and take our order. I'm not sure why I was so excited to order my entree as the appetizer was the best thing we had. We ordered the Texas Star and it was great which naturally had me anticipating a great entree. It was not my night. I chose the Teriyaki Steak and it came with some great steamed veggies and plain white rice no seasoning with a cold tough piece of beef sliced in large pieces on top that was dipped in what tasted like cheap bottled sauce from the dollar store. I picked around and made the best of it leaving 3/4 on the plate. When I asked for the ticket the waiter brought it and as he stood there I asked him to wait as my husband had his credit card almost out of his wallet but he walked off...once again the manager person prompted him back to get our bill completed. I left feeling sorry for the nice manager person, but not sorry enough that I recommend anyone try this place. read more

Went on a Friday night and it was busy, not unexpected, but no host greeted us and our server was unapologetic about our having to wait. He was in a hurry and acted as if everything we asked for was a burden. My boyfriend ordered the udon noodle soup (I think it was called Nikomi) and it was not good. Barely any meat, odd taste and the noodles were chewy. My hibachi chicken was average. I ordered two small servings of saki without knowing the price and they turned out to be $14.00 each. a family i know are regulars at this place but one night they were charged for the dinner combo plate when they ordered and received the children's plate. something was mentioned to the server just to clear things up and unexpectedly, the manager comes out to have a word but does it so unprofessionally, basically yelling at them, assuming they have repeatedly done this in the past where they supposedly order the children's plate but change it to the dinner combo plate so they don't get charged for it; basically coming at them for something they have never done. the manager would not even let the woman of the family speak, just outright throwing blame with no evidence. i feel like they might have mistaken that family for another family but the way the situation was handled was extremely poor and unprofessional. would not recommend this place because their customer service is shit!!! also after reading a couple more reviews, i realized there may be more than one manager or person in charge, the manager my friend dealt with was a woman. read more

I keep forgetting to review this place. However, this is the place that my boyfriend and I go to whenever we're craving sushi. We're from Clovis so we drive to get our fix. I'll start by saying I'm pretty sure both my wife and I have a different view of what good sushi is vs most others in Lubbock. We love sushi and have had it all over the US and and abroad and have had some pretty amazing stuff. So with that disclaimer Hyashi (both mistown and the other one) has pretty average food. The rolls aren't bad but are pretty lack the flavor and creativity of better sushi. I know many people that love the place but we have left dissapointed with the food on both visits. On the good side the service was quite good and the decor is very upscale with a Vegas vibe. East Moon Asian is more reasonably priced and frankly has better sushi. read more

the hibachi was really yum! the sushi rolls on the other hand weren't so yum. i picked this place on a whim because i was hungry but lent season limited me to only eating seafood. i don't regret it! our server was very nice and attentive and often checked on us. i ordered salmon hibachi and my boyfriend ordered steak and salmon hibachi, a spicy salmon roll, and the pink dragon. we both really enjoyed our hibachi-portions were worth the price! the only downside is that you have to pay extra to have fried rice rather than white rice with your hibachi. we both had white rice and the rice was honestly really nice! it was nice a fluffy and it wasn't dry. it was perfect rice. the salmon roll on the other hand wasn't as nice. it was kind of odd looking and my boyfriend said it didn't taste very good. the pink dragon and okay. it was cute and worth a snap on your story but the taste was pretty average. the taste of alcohol overpowered all the other flavors so it wasn't all that enjoyable. it also came out pretty late-mid meal despite my boyfriend ordering it before our food came out. which was fine they just kind of took a while. it was also only 8 bucks so honestly, it's not all that bad. overall, this place is great. i would definitely come back if i ever come back to lubbock! read more

Nice little sushi spot. I had the shrimp tempura, the spider roll, and gyoza. All were excellent. This is the first place in Lubbock I've had sushi and it was much better than I expected. I don't know how this place has 4 stars. The service is very nice, but the food is disappointing and almost inedible. I ordered the Teriyaki chicken. The chicken was bland and the fried rice tasted like a wet animal. Literally, it's not an exaggeration. It tasted like what a dog smells like. My partner got the sushi that had a very very thin layer of rice around it. It was mediocre at best. Our server, Gage, was very attentive and nice however.
