The food is average and overpriced. The staff is largely uninterested and unfriendly. The service isn't very good. Take a pass unless you like paying too much for average bar food and being treated like crap by clock watching staff. read more

Went for Taco Tuesday. The buffalo shrimp were a great appetizer along with the $2 Modelos. I ordered the Fish Tacos, which were ok, nothing special. Others in my party ordered a variety of non-taco Tuesday items and enjoyed their meals. Great atmosphere and helpful waitstaff. Food came out quickly. Not that hard you'd think but mine had hair in it and looked like they used the days before garbage to pass as lettuce and my husbands came without a bun! We were down in Wilmington today (grandma lives there) and got hungry. My mom suggested Hayden's Crossing. Wilmington isn't exactly known as a culinary destination, but Hayden's has started to change that. It's decorated like an old barn, and is very rustic, but not the least bit "country or frilly". There is a wall running down the middle of the room, separating the bar from the restaurant area - something I wish more establishments would do. While we were in the restaurant area, I did peek into the bar area and it was really nice - flat screen tvs, nice atmosphere, and the entire place is completely spotless. I can't remember the last time I saw a resturant/bar so friggin clean! You'd think they just opened the doors for the first time this morning. The service was amazing. A friendly young girl took our drink order less than 30 seconds after we sat down, and they were in hand not more than 30 seconds after that. The food was outstanding as well. We had the Pub Sticks for an appetizer. YUM!!! Think something like an egg roll stuffed with what we concluded was a mixture of spinach/artichoke dip and loads of mozzarella cheese, some garlic thrown in and served with grated parmesan on top. Hubby had the Black & Blue burger and he said it was awesome - ate every last bit of that 1/2 behemoth. I had the Pub Burger with White Cheddar which is just your standard burger with the usual toppings, but it was outstanding... juicy, cooked perfectly, and oh so yummy. My kid ordered a hot dog, and I believe it was served on garlic bread - or at least a french roll. Either way, he said it was great. The fries were awesome too. According to mom, their soups are also great, as are their salads - many of which we saw being served. On our way out we overheard another patron who was passing through town and stopped for a bit to eat, talking to the owner. The compliments on the food & service were nonstop, and I later agreed with him on everything he said. Too bad there isn't a place like this closer to Chicago! Quick, friendly service and great food. Recently visited Haydens one of the best steaks I've eaten in a long time it goes down hill a little from there w e asked for some bread with our meal the waitress said we dont give bread with the meal they do give a little sliver of bread with the soup which I didnt have then I asked for Heinz 57 steak sauce the young waitress never even heard of it she had to ask another waitress and of course they dont have it I was very disappointed when you're spending a hundred dollars for a meal (for4) you expect at least a piece of bread and a better steak sauce than A-1i will probably not be going back read more

Very delicious food!! In an area where its hard to find a good steak,they have it!! Love the friendliness of everyone and the atmosphere is casual yet semi private with lower lighting and really cool deco etc. I dont do bars so I have never seen that side but have never heard loudness or problems or sounds from that side while dining in the restaurant part. A little pricey but worth it since you dont have to drive 30-45 minutes out of the way to go get a steak etc. Parking is a bit hard at times because they're so busy. Unbelievable... So angry I didn't even finish my drink....went to eat after waiting 35-40 minutes, (we were told 10-15 max and turns out there were four tables in front of us) they seated me and my husband and kid at the smallest booth (no joke) they had in the restaurant, as a plus size woman this is my biggest fear, I didn't think this would be the case because there were three other tables besides this one, but even through there were several other tables that were bigger. They said here's your table and bolted before I could say anything. So in this packed restaurant my family is trying to wedge into this little table which we do not fit into in front of all these people. So we decided to leave and not even stay to eat or finish my drink.(not that we could have sat there anyway) On my way out I asked to see a manager three times and not once was allowed to do so. So as a born and bref resident of Wilmington, and many time consumer at this restaurant, I'm fine. I don't care how good food is or isn't or how good the service is or isn't every other time...it only takes one time to make someone no longer a customer of a business. I won't be going back. Sigh When we walked in, there was a fog of kitchen smoke, and I asked one of the workers if they could turn on the ceiling fans... she said they were broken!? ALL 6 OF THEM??! We both had a cup of the loaded baked potato soup.. it was very good. And we both had a pub melt. I had mine with onion rings, and hubby had Cole slaw, which he said was one of the best he's ever had. After our server, Jen, brought out our food, she decided to sit with a couple of guys in a booth!! How unprofessional is that!? You can't wait until you're off duty to socialize??! Actually, she was sitting down with them quite a bit, in between orders.... I told my husband, he should have left her $2., but he gave her 20%.. This place is in desperate need of a paint job & bathroom remodeling!! Stall doors are like, the size of a grade school bathroom. My husband said, that the ceiling in the men's room still hasn't been repaired for the 3 years we've been coming here.. You know... take care of your property, or sell it!! read more

Gave them two chances 2 weeks apart. Both times the steak was over cooked. Med rare should be pink in the middle, mine was well done, both times! The steak was dry, most likely because it was well done. I was offered pecan pie for my troubles, refused and just decided this place is not for me. read more

Hopefully this review will make changes. Used to be awesome when Chef Dean was there, no I am not related or good friend. Bartender is always in someones business and that take presidence over u getting served! Ordered to go and salad was good but the Mahi mahi was what I was waiting for was barely warm when I got home (mile down the same road) mashed potatoes were also chilled to where they were hard and not so much mashed but a clump. Mixed veggies were chilly but still real good. The snide look I got when trying to get check to go home and eat my food hot was unnecessary! Sorry I interupted 'tenders gossip pow wow. (blonde one) i cant even imagine working there with me at her mercy for my customers drinks. I would not complain, but today was final straw for me. I had several complainable issues with her. I have been weening myself from Haydens and it just got easier. Obviously an owners relative or she would already be gone. I miss Dean, dont care for where he is, (menuwise) but dang Haydens has sadly took a nosedive downhill. A wrap or a paninni from Chick a dees is better. That is a family style restaurant. I've been here three times...each time I've ordered a burger...something I normally wouldn't do...but theirs are soooo good. Most recently I had the black and blue...very good. Everything was perfect...the burger was juicy the toppings crisp...I didn't even put ketchup or anything else on the sandwich...that good! I will admit to being a bit prejudiced since I grew up in Wilmington, IL and the Owner/Operator of Hayden's Crossing happens to be my cousin. But, that disclaimer aside, whenever I go to or through Wilmington (usually about 3 or 4 times per year) I ALWAYS stop at Hayden's Crossing for a meal. I love their food and the atmosphere is outstanding. Having grown up in Wilmington, I KNOW how much they have needed a place like this in town. The food at Hayden's Crossing is amazing. I have personally had their version of the Deep fried Mozzarella Sticks which are very large Egg Rolls filled with Mozzarella and other ingredients. They are a meal in themselves. I have also had the Grilled Salmon which is to DIE FOR. and I also love their Pub Burgers which I always get with White Cheddar cheese and Bacon. Their fries are outstanding and they will actually cook them the way you like them. I personally like my fries very. very crispy and darker brown. That is exactly how I get them. I was pleasantly surprised my first time here. I thought it was just a bar, but it's mostly resturant. And the food is a-maz-ing. The burgers are my favorite, and their drinks are on par. The interior is rustic and resembles a barn, they have fake owls hidden around and I always make finding them into a game with my son. The staff is super friendly, and not just in a customer service way; they talk to you like you've been friends for years-- and thats something I absolutely love. The only thing I dont like, is it's NOISY. maybe that depends on when you go, but if you're looking for a sit down to chit chat, be prepared to try to talk over everyone else. read more

It seems like they had a limited selection of speciality drinks. It might be more of a beer crowd anyway. It is a small place so it can fill up during peak hours so I'll avoid it then. read more

I've been here a few times, and I've never been very impressed. They offer basic American cuisine (burgers, steak, chicken, etc.) which I love, but the execution is a little lacking. In addition, the seating could be more comfortable and the noise level is a bit too much for me. They aren't awful, but there are definitely better options in town. read more

Very impressed for the 1st time of dining here. We sat at the bar since the restaurant itself was busy with too much loud talk out of women group patrons. My husband & I had a chicken sandwich & a salmon salad. Everything was outstanding. It is very dark because of the decor which I didn't care for. Service is a tad slow, but the quality and quantity of food more than makes up for it

The fries were excellent....sadly, our server, Josh and the rest of our order were sorely lacking. Had to hunt down Josh several times to get assistance. At the end of our meal (we were there almost 2 hours because of how slow everything was), Josh took our credit card to pay for our order, and set it down on an unattended counter and there it sat until I went and reclaimed it. Ok so I get there and they ignore us we sat at a table and wait a good while for someone then we get a waitress that's like drunk and load and talks over us. I order the New York strip the appetizer and salad was good but my steak came out burnt and very very well done I sent it back and the whole table is done eating and we are waiting for my steak so we can take it to go and leave it gets to the table and it's completely and utterly rare like they just cut it off the cow and the waitress says that looks medium hmm rolls her eyes and walks away that's was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant ever. Best spot in town, such a hidden gem. Great specials and overall awesome food, I recommend the spinach dip and pub stick for the appetizers! The service here is always prompt and I have never had any issues. On special occasions they will have crab legs/lobster (Christmas, Valentine's day, New Years) and they are phenomenal! read more
