BA Appliance Repair was sent to us through our home warranty company when our oven on our range…read morestopped heating. Repair guy seemed nice enough, looked inside and claimed our range was dual-fuel (I.e. stove was gas, oven was electric), and that BA didn't service these types. I was surprised - because although we didn't buy this appliance (we moved here less than 2 years ago), we always thought the unit was completely gas. Turns out we thought this, because it was completely gas. Confirmed by the repair guy who came from Day's, the appliance repair company that our home warranty company sent out when BA refused service. On a plus note, BA didn't try to collect a deductible for coming out (We wouldn't have paid it anyway if he did). But I'm not sure why the repair guy couldn't tell that our oven was in fact gas, or why they would make the effort to come out to refuse service to us. Have no idea what this was about. But I can guarantee I will ensure our home warranty company doesn't use these guys again for us, or we don't use them again on our own.

A couple days later and the problem still persisted. Asked him to come back and he added Freon while I watched. He told me that it was a closed system that he would have to splice into. I was kind of nervous about that because I thought the freon would leak possibly. He assured me that it was not a common issue. The fridge and freezer and icemaker started working the way they were supposed to, but after a couple months, I started to notice a warp in my floorboards. I wasn't even thinking about the refrigerator repair. Thought maybe some water had been spilled. Problem kept getting worse and finally I pulled the refrigerator from the wall and took the back plate off and saw that water was dripping condensation from the saddle valve that he put on. I sent him a picture of said saddle valve and he denied ever putting it on after I sat there and talked to him about it while he was doing it. He literally told me it was a closed system and the only way to add Freon was to splice into it.. No one else had ever worked on my fridge. This was all via text message. The next thing I know he is calling me. He wanted to know what the problem was, and I explained. He denied ever installing the saddle valve and told me that he would never put one on and that the condensation was from ordinary every day humidity. I've had this refrigerator and floor for 14 years without a problem. He asked me if there was a charge for a saddle valve on the invoice. He said that if he would have put one in it would've cost $16. (It is interesting how he knows exactly how much one costs when he never installs them.) He asked me what he wanted me to do. I said fix it. He told me I was lying and said screw you and hung up the phone. This guy is a hothead. Beware.

For the times when I need someone else to drive me, there is a plug that connects to the back of the regular driver's seat that allows anyone to drive the van. This plug was bust with loose wires. A random google search of electricians brought up Leitner Electric where I left a message. The next day I got a call from Mr. Perry asking how he could help. His tone was very friendly and I was amazed at how he carefully listened to what I needed and said he was willing to try to help me (even though repairing a plug in a disabled van was not in his scope of work, I bet!). While waiting outside his office this morning I was reading about Leitner Electric and discovered that Mr. Perry is the CEO of the company! There was a heavy drizzle as I waited and a minute later this person comes out in a rain jacket, introduced himself and got right to work. He got things working almost immediately and to top it off, he re-taped all the wires and neatened up everything. After the job was done, he noticed that the air pressure in a tire was low. He went to his car and got a tire inflator and filled my tire. Then I could not believe it when he went around to the other tires and checked the air pressure in the remaining tires. They were all low. Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty. One of his employees came out toward the end while Mr. Perry was checking the air in my tires and he said that Mr. Perry was the best boss ever; hands on and leading by example. At the end of it all, we exchanged a hug and I was off! No mention of a charge (the van shop had quoted a 2-hour labor charge of $300 with no guarantee that they could get it to work). I felt Mr. Perry was almost thanking me for giving him a chance to help me! He likes to make people happy, he said. Check out the reviews on the Leitner website! The almost perfect reviews are reflective of the man and his work ethic. It's a no-brainer to choose Leitner and Mr. Perry for any electrical work - a master electrician and a large-hearted man.
