Just had the best experience at Hay's Place for a staff meeting, and I couldn't have picked a better spot to give my staff some much needed R&R! From the moment we arrived, everything just felt special. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and the weather was perfect on the patio! I honestly can't speak highly enough about the food, the staff, and the service, there wasn't one element of our experience that was better than the other (everything was TOP TIER). The Tin Can Nachos are a MUST, and the Arranchera & Enchiladas and the Enchiladas Del Mar Trio were repeat orders at our table. The espresso martini's had great reviews, and I had the spicy michelada which I would definitely order again! Between the food, the atmosphere, the views, and the service, this was one of the best dining experiences we've had in Pebble Beach. Already looking forward to our next staff meeting . . . and probably a couple visits in between. read more

I had the worst experience here. I have a disability, and Hays place did not accommodate me. My disability is allergic asthma to dog dander, which can cause an anaphylactic reaction. When I saw a dog sprawled across the restaurant floor behind the owner (who was sitting at the bar) and chewing on a toy, my heart stopped. Usually dogs are outside on patios. My date asked if the dog was a service animal. The staff seemed unconcerned, stating over and over that this person was a regular (how is being a regular important in this situation?). Legally, staff is obligated to ask two questions: is this a service animal and if so which tasks is it trained to perform? No follow up questions were asked, but the manager briefly spoke to the person. This dog was chewing on a toy on the floor, not attuned to its owner or appearing to be on duty. When the magaer returned, he told us that the dog was a service animal (after a quick conversation where the manager basically said "this is a service dog right?", and the owner said whatever necessary to keep the dog around, and repeated again that the owner was a regular since "day one" with the dog (again, who cares?). When does being a regular make you more important than accommodating a disability? If the dog was really a legally needed service animal, why talk about them being a regular? The manager told me he wanted everyone to be happy, so he told me that I could go outside on the patio, but if I did he warned that it was a "dog heavy patio". This is a refusal to accommodate a disability. This solution only made the dog owner happy, not me. Disability is not about happiness. He offered no promise or interest to isolate me or move the person drinking at the bar to the patio. It's clear that he never asked if the dog was a service animal since "day one", not any other animal who was brought in since. This is an open kitchen, and a clear health hazard to not be on top of the dogs coming inside and their status. The manager's passive aggressive handling of the situation pushed out a customer with a disability, causing us to have to secure new dinner plans in a pinch. I was so offended that we left after ordering, and it ruined my weekend to have to feel less important than a dog. What kind of world are we living in where a disabled person is treated like an inconvenience who isn't welcome at a restaurant over the comfort of someone at the bar with a non secured dog chewing on a toy? If that person was truly disabled too wouldn't they want to find a way to accommodate me without having to see me humiliated and rejected from the public sphere? If someone is caught impersonating a service animal, legally you're looking at fines and possible jail time. This is a serious situation and dehumanizing. Horribly done Hays. You've lost a customer for life and need to get your priorities straight and staff trained better. read more

Gorgeous place with a huge outdoor patio complete with fire pits. Even on a cold winter night, everyone stayed warm enough. About 1/3 of the seats seem to be indoors but outside is so nice. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food, especially those of us who ordered enchiladas. My "seafood trio" of assorted enchiladas in the different sauces was fantastic. We frequent Hay's Place regularly, sometimes multiple times per week, the reason we do is because of Adam and his amazing team. The food, drink, ambiance and ocean view are a close second but truly the exceptional level of service we receive every time, keeps us coming back. My reason for dropping a star is because the fiesta bowl is labeled as vegetarian on the menu however we found out from the server it is not in fact vegetarian because the Spanish rice is cooked with chicken oil/broth. We were quickly seated and our personable and efficient server arrived immediately. Everything we ordered was great but my Fajitas were outstanding! I ordered the steak medium rare and it arrived perfect. The scrimp was plump, sweet and nicely cooked. Our experience was overall adequate but the price spoiled the mediocre food and service. We expected more from such a wonderful area. Other Pebble Beach resort restaurants were far better for the same price point. This was a perfect lunch spot for our group after a lovely day exploring 17 mile Drive and Pebble Beach! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with incredible views of the greens as well as the ocean! Food came out quickly, especially the tin can nachos and was perfect for sharing! The best item we tried was the Birria tacos along with the nachos! Very accommodating to large groups and had high chairs for a little ones! As well as crayons and kids menus. Parking is easy with lots just across from the restaurant! We had a good time dining at Hays place. My advice is to make a reservation, we had one and were seated right away. The view is super pretty and the food was very good. This place is fantastic!! The service is 5 STAR!!! We were greeted by the hostess at the stand and she sat us at a table right away with a beautiful view! Our server was very attentive. We ordered margaritas - strong and tasty. We started with guacamole to share. And then we decided to get some tacos to share as well. As I was eating mine, he noticed the taco was falling apart. Views are impeccable! The service is good. I came here on July 4th weekend and was able to get outdoor seating easily for late lunch. Their beer selection is decent, cocktails were average and overpriced. Food was good. We enjoyed the nachos the most. The cheese was perfectly melted and the chips were flavorful. The fiesta bowl was basic but good. The mushroom quesadillas were unique and you will like it only if you are a fan of mushrooms. Overall a great place to relax and munch on good food. They will choose keeping fake service dogs inside and try to kick you out onto the patio where there are even more dogs. After several outings to Hays Place it's time for a review. Inspired by Tiger Woods make over of the Peter Hay golf course, Hays Place is a gem. Perched on a high point of the Pebble Beach Resort the Hays is Tiger's playful interpretation of a 9 hole pitch and putt. And next to the course where the average yardage is about 65 yards sits a gigantic practice putting green. (Free BTW). The fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean across Stillwater Cove is your picture window at Hays Place. Imagine eating really good versions of Mex Food. Very high quality and obviously not inexpensive. Great bar in the "open inside area" Open because all the window Doors are open so spacious but under a roof. Outside the fun rolls on and on, remember the views. Great for a Margarita or a beer - food is super good quality and combinations are excellent. Ceviche is a winner. Garden Bowl amazing-- lettuce, pico, guacamole, beans and rice-- add chicken or short ribs or skirt steak. Yum. Look up menu too many to mention and many Shareable. We came here on a beautiful sunny day. The restaurant is located at the start of hole 1 of the golf course. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, as well as lounge/couch seating. It was a busy afternoon so all of the outside tables were taken. We opted for the couch seating because we wanted to sit outside. We ordered the tiger fajitas and the trio of enchiladas. The fajitas come with steak and chicken and is large enough to share. It also comes with a side of rice, beans, pico, sour cream, and guacamole. I only tried the chicken and I thought it was very well seasoned. I loved my enchiladas!!!! It came with the catch of the day, which was cod, and that enchilada was covered with tomatillo sauce. The lobster enchilada was covered in a red crema sauce. The last enchilada was a shrimp one in the traditional red sauce. That one was my favorite, but all of them were delicious! This dish also came with a side of rice and beans. It was the perfect portion and really well presented. After lunch we continued along the 17 mile drive. Definitely stop here if you can. The queso has completely changed - was the best on the peninsula...as was the tin can nachos. But the queso was a key component in that as well. Hands down some of the best modern Mexican food I've had in a while. The enchiladas de mole were to die for, great sweet sauce, wonderful chicken and chili filling. The spare ribs were great as was the corn appetizer. Also, I highly recommend the strawberry margarita, it was not overly sweet and was overall refreshing. Servers were great and on it! Super busy today, quite slow service but understandable. Food was okay. Pozole was really flavorless and far too over-seasoned, and chicharron was quite limp. Fajitas were nice. Steak is grilled and done well, but the peppers were quite flavorless and strangely acidic. The tres leches is quite bad frankly. I've never ever thought that I would describe a cake literally soaked in milk as dry, and the accompanying strawberry sorbet is out of place and lacks any depth. For the price, it's just alright. Granted, it is overlooking the beautiful golf course, so come here for the relaxing ambience and not so much the food. read more
