Don't waste your time, they really could care less about your business, we went in spoke to the young gentleman in the door department we texted me back requested info, no response, texted again asking if there was anything else he needed, NO RESPONSE, I called and asked what the issue was stated he was overwhelmed with customers, I asked for 2 weeks straight??? He then promised to get back to me with a quote, well another 2 weeks has gone by and absolutely NOTHING, so I am moving on to Capital Hardware!! read more

I placed an order for two doors from these people because their CEO Mark used to work with a friend of mine at JP Morgan so I thought I would try to support their business even though they have such poor ratings on yelp. Mistake. They promised us that the doors would be delivered on a certain day and when they missed the first day and we asked them for a new date, they gave us one a week later. when that second date was missed and we asked for another day they gave us a third date which they also missed. This order was now 5 weeks out from order date and 3 weeks past original delivery date and they wouldn't commit to a new 4th date. when we asked them why they kept missing the dates they hung up the phone with me after asking me what was I going to do about it? They said they're the only door game in town. These people are rude obnoxious liars. I definitely 100% recommend you buy doors from literally anyone else in santa barbara. As these people are the absolute rudest unhelpful people I've ever dealt with in construction and I've been in construction for 30 years. When I spoke to the manager Scott about my experience he laughed and told me to sue him and used a bad word. Look at all these bad reviews. We are doing a remodel and needed an exterior door and window. It was an 8 month wait for the products to arrive, and when they did, everything about them was wrong. We were told that that happens all the time and that they would send it back and order new ones. Um, no thank you. The existing doors and window that we have are Anderson, which they don't carry. We went to Builders First Source and they got everything right on the first try, even though it cost us another 8 months. We'll never go back to Hayward. read more

Bought $300 lumber today. Help at counter was good. Then it is a free for all getting lumber into my truck. After waiting my turn put truck where yard boss told me while we loaded. This required being moved several times. Three 2x12x12s and some smaller pieces. Tying it up and in last few seconds putting a red flag on overhang. Then a young in a hurry rude lift driver demanded I move the truck again so he could get by. Told him I would be finished in less than a minute and I had waited my turn and I was parked where yard boss told me to park. Quite a mouth on this employee. Soured the whole experience. I will drive out to Channel City in the future. read more

Hayward has been my go-to for several years; I bought (odd sized) oak from them for furniture, timber for framing a barn, windows and other hardware for many projects. I can bounce ideas of the team there and leverage their knowledge/expertise to make my DIY projects amazing. Props to Kevin, Dustin and Mark for their amazing responsiveness and flexibility! Has anyone else had problems with overcharges at this store? Yesterday they charged my handyman $684.78 for a few boards, screws, and primer. He purchases these types of items often, so he told the salesman there must be a mistake as the price was too high. The salesman insisted there was no mistake. Fortunately my handyman pursued the matter, asking another associate to check the price. Sure enough, the second person said the correct price was only $237.45. Big difference. What is worse is that Hayward grossly overcharged my handyman a few months ago too. Maybe it is just a matter of bad luck, but I've asked him to purchase supplies elsewhere. read more

Not sure why they charge so much for most of their products. Everything is marked up 2 to 3 times normal. This is the last place to go to buy anything you need. Customer service isn't that great either. To shop here is to be in dire need. read more

Been here a few times, they have sizes of lumber other places don't carry. The prices are fair on most items, although some can be overpriced. The people that work there are friendly and helpful, but i was missed informed over the phone twice on some lumber (was told xxx amount per foot, and i could get any amout) turns out, yes it's xxx per foot, but you must buy the entire piece of lumber. I even questioned them when i called. But they are conviniant and have a good selection. read more

Total ripoff. Price for hardwood purchased was posted at $1 per linear foot. Actual charge was about $15. I wasn't paying attention so I got taken. Don't make the same mistake avoid these snakes like the plague. This is apparently how they do business. read more
