I've been using Home Depot for many things over the years. I needed a mailbox replacement lock. I was walking down the aisle and there was a young man restocking something. I asked where the mailbox locks were. He didn't even blink and said it's down this isle right had side in bin number, it's towards the bottom. I was blown away it as exactly where he said it was. I'm so sorry I didn't get his name. I've never had anyone pretty much at any store know so exactly where something was without having to look it up. Clean cut young man with glasses. Bottom Line: This place is a struggle I'm just going to make this as simple as I can; - Bossman gave me a gift card he had purchased from the store - Attempted to purchase products online - Scratched the back of the card as instructed - Wasn't warned beforehand to not scratch the scracth-off area, and scratched off the pin - Had to go to the store to ask about it - Got the PIN from a kind, professional and courteous customer service employee - Walked over to the checkout area to ask if they could order something for me online, (as the part isn't IN the store) but I was already in the store - Attempted to explain but this request it was beyond the capacity of this institution - Simply went home to order what I needed from the site - Card has zero balance The above wasted hours of my life are certainly not the first and certainly not the last. I have had so many painful interactions in this store and it goes back decades. Today just prompted me to actually write a review and this one leaves a bad taste in my mouth for sure. I'm going to go ahead and leave off the phone call I made regarding the zero balance gift card that also lasted nearly an hour as it doesn't pertain to anything this store has done but it's a nice cherry to add to the story. The only people that I have consistently had a positive experience with are the Customer Service people, just inside the entrance. Terrible dishwasher install job! Brought dented dishwasher the first time...ok. No worries. New one came a week later and was 'installed' and instantly the dishwasher drain into the sink leaked. Never mind the mess the installer left in the kitchen. Called them to finish the install properly and they said they'd be there the next day and they were a no-show. Then Saturday AM I got an email that said they would show up in a couple hours. Finally showed up and said they couldn't add caulking to prevent the leak under the sink. Pointless to have them out. I walk in so hopeful, but quickly get sad. The store is just a mess, literally. Trash on the floor, merchandise just dumped wherever there's a shelf, shopping carts full of cardboard debris left over from stocking shelves just parked and abandoned. The store clearly gets more merchandise than they can handle, so it just randomly gets put in any open spot they can find. Tool Boxes with refrigerators, cases of laminate flooring displayed with plumbing. And the fact that the aisles now can barely accommodate one shopper walking through from all the clutter and pop up cardboard displays doesn't seem to phase them. Hire and train some people, organize shelves, take a broom off the rack and put it to use, show some pride. This company is a nightmare. On the 28th of last month my houses fridge kicked the bucket. So we bought a new fridge off this organizations website because I am a type one diabetic and my supplies need to be kept cold. With assurance it would be to us by Saturday between 3-7pm. Saturdays time came and went and not a word from anyone. So my wife whos card purchased the fridge called them up. According to the person she spoke too it was on the truck, and they don't know why it didn't get here, but in an act of good faith they gave her a mini fridge to keep my insulin cold, with the promise it would be here Tuesday the 2nd. Well guess what??? Tuesdays time came and left so we cc called again and they told us that it will be delivered on Saturday the 6th. We told them that was unacceptable. I asked to speak to the girls manager as she was being very rude with me, and I told the manager I was thinking about just canceling my order, but I had to talk to my wife first. And while he was on the phone i did and we decided to give it one more chance. But Jose, told us he already canceled it and since it was canceled there was nothing to be done about the order. He said he thought we were finished then hung up on me. And now are taking the price of the mini fridge out of what they are putting back in my wife's card.... Home Depot, I have shopped with you probably longer then any of the kids I spoke with yesterday have been alive. Your company should be ashamed of themselves for treating long time customers like how I was treated over this. I am spreading the word far and wide about this because I know you won't have my business any longer nor anyone in my family's, and I hope when more people read about this it turns them away as well. I used to look forward to going to the Depot, but now I hope I never see your orange sign again. I called the store TWICE today, to make an appointment to select custom kitchen cabinets and countertops. I was on hold 15 minutes the first time and 10 minutes the second time: I'm taking my business to Lowe's. HD needs to do change how they use their phones. The actual person I talked to that said "I'll transfer you to that department" either had no idea my call hadn't been picked up or didn't care. Honestly I usually get great customer service from this place. They're usually no hassle and have been flexible with me about pricing and returns and things. And generally I feel like they've bent over backwards to be generous and helpful l 1 less star for a singular negative experience: wouldn't recommend getting anything "assembled for you" and brought curbside though, they tried to offer me a weathered dented bbq and pretend they had no other stock. Thank goodness for actual good customer service inside and the magic of the internet telling me they had 45 in stock... it all worked out in the end after many hoops to jump through but with the return, price correction, retrieving it from an upper pallet boxed... it added 60min to the whole process kudos to the forklift driving lady, customer service and one of the in store guys who I flagged down to help 3 out of 4 of you were still exceptional. read more

I was on a valiant quest for paint sample colors. Luckily Home Depot will mix any color you ask for, or bring in a sample of, and process it in small jars to test the paint/color/thickness etc. before buying larger cans. I was in search of both a coral and aquamarine color which I readily found on their epic wall of paint sample hues. The gallant gentleman in the paint department could not be more helpful! He brainstormed with me about the best gloss varnish to purchase as well for both my medium and base material. I went to check out but was promptly distracted by a display of an array of gorgeous rare succulents, which now have a permanent home on my windowsill! If you've ever tried looking for a Home Depot filled with more clueless individuals than these, you might be searching for a few years. I went in to look for one fastener for my whisker biscuit on my riser. All I needed was an Allen key to open my existing fastener. Asked 4 customer service people. All no clue. One even acting like I don't speak English. Long story short, 30 minutes after, I failed to find just one Allen key to unscrew one fastener. Don't waste your time here go to anywhere else. DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES HERE, YOU WILL BE SCREWED! I bought two washer and dryers about 6 years ago, and had an absolute nightmare! One of the appliances arrives completely damaged, as if someone kicked in the sides, scratches all over the top, and parts missing. When I called the store, I spoke with an associate who didn't care, and an employee laughing in the background, WOW! Years later, I decided to give them a second chance. When I arrived at the store just before 4:30pm, there was no one to help me, everyone had gone home. I spent over an hour on my phone finding the best dishwasher, reading the reviews. Dishwasher arrives days later, which the delivery crew telling me I am screwed because I forgot to "add" in removal (this is not haul away fee of $50), this is JUST to removed the old dishwasher. One of the delivery crew was shockingly RUDE to me, I had to ask him to leave and told him to just drop off the dishwasher in the garage, because I did not pay for the removal. Then, I learned I needed an air gap installed, which they DO NOT do, either. Later I called the store to speak to a manager, whom was very blunt and rude, nearly yelling at me and made me feel like I was an idiot because Home Depot is not responsible to customers for NOT knowing that CA law requires an air gap, and she told me I was supposed to KNOW this?! That night I cut up my Home Depot credit card. NEVER AGAIN AM I GIVING THEM MY BUSINESS. Been over a week and still no dishwasher, going to another store! As most of you know Home Depot stores are really rather large and carry a ton of items, so it can be difficult to find just what you think you need; especially if you don't shop there often and are not extremely handy with diy projects. Yes, I fall in that category and can use as much advice as the knowledgeable staff can give me. I will shop here next time I am doing diy home projects. Just spent 45 minutes trying to buy trash bags and a Mop. Their checkout system is so antiquated they only accept checks and credit cards (when their machines are working)! I have Apple Pay and my credit card info but they aren't allowed to enter cc numbers. I had to order on-line - while in store - which took another 25 minutes. Then I had to wait for order to process. After weeks of delay, and after we had to pay other people separately to take heavy furniture out of the way then put it back, as we were warned it would not be moved by the contractors, our living-room engineered-wood flooring, was installed, minus the flooring in two closets, which we were told were not included. Who pays for patchwork? Who, we asked, covers the floor of a living room, excepting one piece of it? Regardless of any paperwork, which we know stores can manipulate via small font words and exhausting legalese, what kind of professional submits dimensions for a room and leaves out closets on the same level, with doors that would show (when open) the discrepancy in the floor? They often seem too busy to stop and help you.We have ordered parts and picked them up in the store only to find the part is missing from the box.... the worker did all of this in front of us.. HOME TOWN GO-TO: As Home Depot's go, this one is slightly better than average. However, I generally find that they have enough wandering associates nearby to ask questions when in need, which is always helpful. The store is clean, organized and has a great selection overall. The plant and gardening section has some very healthy, diverse plants, and gardening essentials, which always inspires me. They have a customer service kiosk up front for speedy returns, if needed. I wish they had more customer service agents who actually assisted with full checkout, as they have mainly self-check stations. I always prefer the one-on-one TLC of an actual person assisting me with checkout (versus self-check), and feel that supports human jobs in-general. I also wish their customer service agents in the "return" section were a little more jovial and customer-focused, as I have had more than one occasion where they seemed a bit abrupt. I do find that the general (wandering) associates are mostly kind, knowledgeable and attentive. There is plenty of space in the shopping aisles and this location has abundant, up-front parking, as well as a loading dock for large purchases. read more

Home Depot does not have an online customer service request or comment page. you must phone the number given on the website. I wanted to purchase an item online to pick up in store. You also cannot make an online purchase without creating an account which is maddening. I have an account and forgot my password. I requested a password change which was supposed to be sent to my email address. that option never came through to my email. when I called the local store I had to wait and decided it was just too much trouble with all of the obstacles. I went to Amazon instead and located the item (for exactly half the price Home Depot is selling it for, and places my order. it will be at my mailbox on Monday. so there Home Depot. you lost at least one sale and probably a lot more. read more
