After many failed attempts and realizing that they are closed on Sundays, I craved for the yummy hot dogs. The Cravings... I like this walk up service hot dog place. It's been here for years. The fries are so addicting that you can't eat just one order. I really like the brat dog with mustard and spicy mustard. I opted for the salsa dog and with the combo, you also get a massive helping of fries that are hand cut there, as well as a nice sized soda. The salsa dog is covered with salsa, jalapenos and some amazing cheese sauce. The hot dog was a perfect crunch from the shell when you bite into it and all of the toppings blend perfectly together as well. The fries were also cooked to perfection and the soda tasted amazing as well, making me think they added something to it because it tasted much better than other fountain drinks I have had at other places. At the price tag of roughly seven dollars for all that food, it is impossible to find anywhere else that has this much food for the price, let alone the food being good for that price as well! Well it has been a year since we moved to the Jax area and we have driven past Hazel's at least two dozen times (every other week, at least.) And what a shame it took us year to think to stop here for lunch!! Probably the best Chicago Dog I've had in a long time!! Hubby decided he just had to try their #1 seller, the Spicy Dog, and as a backup he ordered a chili cheese dog too. He also had a side of their house- made fries.
