The folks who run the place keep everything sparkling clean. There is a huge restroom and a smaller one and they are open year round and are very clean. The slips seem to have all the amenities and a number of people live on their boats there year round. Always enjoy talking with the people there and taking pictures of any new vessels that look interesting. It's a very short walk to town where there are places to eat and shop. Cathlamet is a nice little town with mostly friendly people (the local cops excluded). The cabins have been there for a long time and look to be cozy enough although I am not one who would enjoy neighbors so close to me if I went there specifically to get away from people. But I rarely see any vehicles parked there off season so I'm guessing you would mostly be by yourself if you rented one. The view up river is nice and on a warm, sunny day it can be quite pleasant just hanging out there.

Once inside, you find a very clean store with a few tables and a bar to order from. The young lady who took our order was polite and helpful. We both ordered the BLT on sourdough. One chocolate milkshake and one berry smoothie. Sandwiches were generously sized and very good. The components that made them so good were quality bread and really good bacon. His chocolate shake he said was really good chocolate flavor. My smoothie was an explosion of berries on my tongue. The young man who brought us our food checked back a few minutes later to see if we needed anything. Ambience could move the stars from 5 to 4 but I think that's relevant. If I were to downgrade it would only be due to the issue of getting out of the parking lot onto Hwy 30 going west. But that's not something that Finns has no control over.

So much great information about the river and shipping!!! We saw a harbor seal, sea lions, a bald eagle, a crane and lots of seagulls and other birds. It was a little chilly so we were glad for our coats, hats and gloves. Watching from below wouldn't have been nearly as fun as being up on the deck. I have two suggestions for improvement and would have given 5 stars: 1. The boat needs some tidying up. Even if someone lives here sometimes, put things away, dust, vacuum, etc. so the first impression upon boarding isn't one of entering a messy dorm room. 2. Offer bottled water or some sort of light snack and beverage. It's a 3 hour trip. Sure we brought our own but it would be a nice touch. I imagine some of the local companies would give you a deal to offer their products and help spread the word about their delicious beer, chocolate, baked goods, etc. Well worth the cost and a great way to really see Astoria and understand this river town.

I recently purchased a boat, and was told I could take over the spot who previously owned the boat. Seemed to all go well, I went into the office paid for the month of September and gave them my bank information so the costs could come directly out of my account each month. Later starting the next day, I started getting calls from Toni in the front office, who was very rude, and aggressive to the point, I didn't feel comfortable even having a conversation with her. She was asking me questions, about my boyfriend who also had a slip in the marina. She accused him of breaking into my boat and living on my boat. She made insinuations that we had met at the marina and that he was taking advantage of me. Which was not true. The next day he went to the marina to pay for his slip, and then got on my boat because I asked him to get something for me, I had left behind, since he was going to be there that day. After charging me twice, and after I spent $120.00 filling up my boat with their gas, I was told to leave the Marina because I let someone on my boat. (who has a key) I was never given credit back for any of the money I spent. And then I had to find another marina and pay for September moorage again. They also said my boyfriend was kicked out of the Marina. No one called him, they expected me to tell him. He also did not get any of his money back. After taking $500.00 from us, they kicked us out the next day, and did not give us a credit for anything. And left me in a very stressful situation finding another place to moorage the boat. I called the Harbor Master hoping that they would work with me, at least letting me stay until the end of the month (since I already paid) but he stood behind his employee, and did not work with me. I understand things happen, and there was some misunderstanding in place. No rules were ever explained to me. I was nothing but polite and accommodating to the staff. There was no communicating to Toni, nothing I said would have helped. I felt bullied and scared to even say anything. This Marina is very unprofessional and, in the end, I'm glad that I'm no longer there, but wanted to tell my story and bad experience. Make sure you get things in writing from them. I hope this helps in anyone's search for a Marina

From the perspective of a local sport fisherman:…read more I do most of my Spring, Summer, and Fall salmon and steelhead fishing in the general area on the Columbia River, Lewis River, and the Multnomah Channel and this marina and store have come in handy several times. If you're running low on fuel, bait, tackle, snacks or beer because you didn't plan ahead this place can cover you. The gas is a bit spendy, but most marinas are. I've never used the boat launch or moored my boat there as I live in Washington and use those launches mostly. I hear you can buy an Oregon State fishing license there, but haven't done it myself.

I stopped here during my spring break Oregon Road trip, which consisted of driving up through Central Oregon before I headed west to Astoria, and then down the entire coast of Oregon. I wasn't expecting to like Astoria as much as I did, but wow was I beyond impressed. The area of Fort Stevens is also very cool, it's neat how they made a park out of what was once a military site. There's so much lush greenery growing over the remaining army equipment, it's pretty cool how nature has taken over. I also saw some elk that were just sitting down hanging out in a little park. That was pretty awesome! Would definitely return here to visit again.
