HD Hookups installed a rather complex media system for us last January. Everything worked well until a week ago when we suddenly lost our streaming capability overnight. We called the company and learned our problem was the result of coding changes made by Apple TV. Within 2 days HD Hookups sent technician, Cesar, to deal with the problem, which was made more difficult because the nuanced settings on our remote had also been lost. Frankly, when I learned of the situation I became anxious that, starting from scratch, it might not be possible to regain the same functionality we originally paid for. However, Cesar worked diligently for over an hour, not only to restore our streaming capability but to actually improve system performance. He explained how sound quality could be enhanced and made those adjustments in addition to answering a few key questions about the use of Sonos. Now jets actually seem to fly over our heads, back doors seem to close from behind us and the volume range on my Sennheiser headphones has increased. Literally, everything about the system is better today than it has been since its initial installation last January. I recommend this company without hesitation for any media-related installation, repair, or upgrade work. For their exceptional service I would give more than 5 stars were it possible! read more

Cons: - I felt the company misled me by quoting me the price of $189 to install my 65" TV with the cord running inside the wall so it wasn't exposed. When I made the appointment, I specifically made sure that they would be able to run the cord through the wall and they confirmed that they would. When the tech arrived, he notified me that because of codes, they were unable to do that and that they would instead have to place a new electrical outlet behind where the TV was going, which required an additional cost from what I was quoted. ***UPDATE*** After my initial one star review, HD hookups addressed my complaints and refunded me $70 (from the $320 I had spent on a 30 min job). I give them 3 stars due to the fact that they reached out to me to try and make things ok. As I mentioned on my previous review, the estimate and actual work was misleading over the phone and I had paid $250 (with the $70 refund) for only 30 minutes of work thinking that they were going to hide my wires through the wall. The same day I had a different company install 2 televisions in 2 bedrooms for a total of $100 and had spent an hour doing a great job hiding the wires with a strip. HD hookups is exceptional. Just make sure you have a formal layout of the actual job being done and items that are required so they do not over charge you like they did with my tv mount that I paid $79 for. read more

I used HD Hookups to do the wiring for our new home theater and home network installation. They were not the cheapest but they also weren't the most expensive. My experiences as follows: 1. The initial estimate was not done by the owner (Diego Pelosi) as promised but was done by their internal IT guy. I had to go back & forth with Diego via phone and email to make sure everything was covered. 2. The technician who showed up to do the work was surly and sort of treated the whole job as if he didn't want to be there. 3. He also didn't have the right kind of volume control for the outside speakers. That had to be done separately. 4. When it came to moving a CAT5 wire from one room to the one next door. He had to have help from Dan, our handyman/electrician, who was working on another project at the same time. Later when he came back to actually connect that particular CAT5 to the router and got no signal, he tried to blame our handyman for damaging the cable. When Dan told him he hadn't done anything that would possibly damage the cable, he rechecked and found the wires were connected wrong. 5. He did not hook up the phone and network lines correctly. More below. Initially I thought everything was good because the tech said he had actively toned the lines. HOWEVER, later when I went to hook-up the fax machine in my home office to the phone jack, I got no dial tone. I then tested the other rooms and they were dead as well. When I called Diego Pelosi (HD Hookup owner) to correct the problems, he made the astounding claim that they hadn't contracted to do that work. BS. It was in the quote and HD Hookups themselves installed the combined network/phone jack plates. The house is pre-wired for CAT5 so all they had to do was make the right terminations. 6. Because of Diego's attitude and my having no assurance the job would even be done right, I got a network tech (Guy Krenik, who came recommended by a top IT pro I know) to come in fix things. When Guy opened the plates installed by HD Hookups, he said the phone lines were connected wrong in two rooms and our two offices were not even hooked up. Two hours later, he had everything working correctly. 6. I had also hoped that when the initial install was done, they would do something to clean up the wiring panel. Wrong -- all I got was dangling block terminators. 7. The only things that really turned out right were the rear speakers, outside speakers and basic home theater setup. Maybe if you have a straight home theater install, HD Hookups might be OK. However, my personal experience means I'll never use them again. read more

So I told the wife to find someone to mount our television on the internet 3 months ago. She was told that they would need to come out to the site to give us a solid answer. When the guys came it was not like how these paid reviews or friend reviews are stated on yelp. There was other companies that were cheaper, but I used them because it would be less of a hassle at that time. I agreed to the service at one price and was jacked up another 1 hour for extra labor after because the staff was real slow. This is where the big mistake was. My 85 year old grandma could work faster than these boys. We're talking about sloth man speeds here. PS. If you intend on using them make sure everything is written out on paper and signed. These guys are just okay. Not a huge fan, but they served the purpose. Their availability and good reviews are what won my business, but I am going to say I would shop around and ask a few more questions before I went with them again. First, they cut open the box on the TV instead of opening it, so it is essentially useless as a moving implement without copious amounts of tape. They also broke the styrofoam packing instead of carefully removing it. They were on time and delivered as promised, but I had to pay $100 more for over the fireplace, because it is further to pull the power, but they still charged me an additional $75 for a power drop. They made up for it by "throwing in" some HDMI cables (which we didn't have, so that was cool). He removed the old TV from the shelf, but left it sitting smack in the middle of my living room. I know he was by himself, but he chose how he staffs his operation, and should be capable of completing the job himself...(this may not be part of the package, but really we just paid $450 for an hour and a half of your time for what I'm sure was a rudimentary process, so figure out a way to make it happen). HD hook ups does a great job. I've used them before in the past and I would use them again. Their prices are fair and they get the job done quickly. Their availability was also good as I didn't have to wait too long for installation. I had my TV mounted above the fireplace with no plug close to it. They mounted it, cut holes in the wall a new plug behind the TV and patched it up. They don't do drywall or paint so you'll have to find somebody else to do that. Pretty standard though. They mounted the cable box behind the television as well as a power strip for other power needs. My only complaint about the job is that the wires aren't completely hidden. This is the only reason I give them four stars instead of five. I can see the wires hanging down underneath the television. I've tried to fix this myself but am unable to. read more
