I have used Heads Up for years and have always been pleased with their work. I've had them come for annual maintenance, repairs and reconfiguring lines due to yard changes. I am wondering if they are still open as their phone number is giving the 'call cannot be completed as dialed' message and am not getting email replies. This was the second time we have used Heads Up Sprinkler and they are reliable and do good work at a fair and honest price. We Highly recommend this business. They are punctual and communicate well. I used heads-up once and i was very satisfied with their services. However, when I needed them again, the techs showed up did whatever they did and left. We had asked they check the sprinkler system, including our drip system. They left after telling my wife they had programmed the Rainbird timer, but we had no idea what the programming was. I have called the ccompany several times and sent an email on their website requesting they send another person out to tell us what was done. I have not received any response from this company. I guess if they can't make enough money off you, they write you off. I have used worse sprinkler companies who had much better customer service than this. I don't know what happened to this company, but I am very disappointed in them now. i cannot recommend this company. read more

Since I left this review, the ladies who owned the company at that time sold it. Service was adequate with the new ownership, but there were billing issues with the new company (my check was returned undeliverable, and it took a year to settle the bill.) I called them four days ago again for service, no one answers the phone (several tries over days), and the voice mail I left has gone unanswered. I no longer recommend Heads Up. read more

I needed to get some sprinkler zones cut off due to an impeding concrete pour and the fact that most of my landscaping had to be replaced and needed to be sure that my sprinklers reached them, too. I reached out to a highly rated one but after they quoted me an additional out of area service fee despite both my location and theirs not far away and told me it would be six weeks, I thought I better do more research. I called Heads Up after they had been recommended on my Neighboorhood FB page. I called left a message and they phoned back minutes later. I was able to make an appointment for the following week. They showed up on time, walked me through what was going to happen, asked if I had questions, and then did the work. The only odd thing was no bill. They said I would receive one from the office. Never did. Called them a month later and asked. They said they had mailed it. So, they emailed me the bill, I paid via Zelle and the matter was closed. Anyway, they were reasonably priced and did great work. They checked all my zones and everything has made it through the Dallas summer thus far. read more

I originally called them to fix a sprinkler head I damaged, modify the spray pattern of two other heads, and perform a general inspection and such. After making the repairs and testing the zones, they pointed out a leak around the deck which was installed over the winter. As I had not used the sprinklers since last fall, I never noticed it but their system check revealed it. Apparently the deck contractor's digging the hole for one of the deck support posts had hit a sprinkler pipe just enough to cause a crack. They removed the sod and dug a small trench and discovered the damaged pipe. Fortunately it was just under the step on that side. They replaced the damaged pipe and added another sprinkler head for that area. And they replaced sod and you had to look hard to see where they had worked. Great crew doing excellent work. read more

Caryn & Mauricio (and team) came in and got a 17 year old system up and running with a new controller and replaced many corroded heads. The new Rochio controller that is installed is taking all the guesswork out of residential irrigation and should conserve water (and dollars) but also protect the biggest investment, the home & yard. Even though ultimately Heads Up couldn't repair our sprinkler system, they are still one of the best companies I've ever dealt with. Why? Lots of clarity: They are high-information. What you should expect in time, cost and process. Professional: They show up on time and keep you in the loop. Knowledgeable: Clear on what type of system pieces will work best on your lawn. They couldn't fix our system because it was beyond repair - a decade or more of non use, stripped wires etc. They determined that after about 30 minutes on site, keeping our costs low. And guess what? They didn't leave my lawn a torn up mess after doing their investigation! My only regret is that they don't install systems, they just repair and maintain. What I wouldn't give to know such a qualified team was putting in the system that I'm now in the market for! But they gave me good referrals to follow up on and specific technology and sustainability elements to ask our selected contractor about. They even followed up with a detailed email, complete with links to various resources for me to do more research. If I can't have them install, Heads Up gave me the next best thing - confidence in my upcoming purchase. Final note: Cost for all of this - just $125. Totally worth it. read more

Second time I have used them and I have been really happy with thier level of service as well as cost. They are the best in the industry and it shows when you make an appointment with them as they are typically booked 2-3 weeks out. The first time I asked them if I needed a drip irrigation system and they said that they didn't think it was necessary as my sprinklers did a good job covering my foundation, I stead they just added a couple more sprinkler heads just in case. I appreciate thier honesty and how they had my best interest in mind instead of telling me to install something that wasn't needed. Tip: if you have a Rachio wifi sprinkler system you can add them as an authorized user very easily so that they can control your system without having you be at home while they perform thier tests or repairs. They will even go through your system to ensure you have the right settings and schedule which is a huge value as this was one part that I wasn't 100% clear when I set up my Rachio system. read more

Original review: Heads Up threatened criminally fraudulent mechanic's lien for amount due for work at a house we hadn't bought yet. I assisted with collecting their debt from prior homeowner (got no thanks for that) and referenced TX law that requires written contract signed by both spouses for homestead properties before a lien can be filed. NOTE: I have emails substantiating these facts and will provide them if removal of this review is attempted. ----- Response to company's "flip side" comment: Prior homeowner was responsible for sprinkler repairs per home purchase contract (they paid the prior $2000+ bill, which this disputed job was a follow-up to). Did HU back off when presented the contract? No. Prior homeowner's new contact info was provided for proper debt collection. Did HU approach rightful party when presented this? No. Did HU provide a quote or contract prior to starting the disputed work? No. And did HU wait until work was done to say in passing that an invoice would be sent? Yes. Did HU respond to referenced TX law for mechanic's liens and the requirement that written contract exist, with signatures from both spouses for homesteads, and that filing one without the above could be criminally prosecuted? No. Part of me wishes the prior homeowner hadn't paid so I could've had the district attorney prosecute HU. But that would've been an even bigger frustration and waste of time than has already occurred. As complex as this apparently is to HU, I would have paid the whopping ~$100 bill if actually responsible. The only "angst" I hold in life is when wronged by others, especially via threatened criminal acts. Am simply making others aware of the facts. HU is welcome for assisting to collect the debt from homeowner on date of service. In the future it is recommended to verify property ownership and have written/signed contract prior to performing work. But I'm just a "crusader" and not a "professional" sprinkler company. read more

Cannot begin to praise this company enough. We've been frustrated for years with "repairs" that never lasted, or weren't completed the first time. The two young men that showed up to our home were polite, knowledgeable, efficient and knew exactly what needed to be done. They gave us both a time and dollar quote and stuck to it. They are the best at what they do, checked several heads around the broken heads, made sure everything worked before they left; gave us some hints to keep everything in working order. Wished we had checked them out earlier in the season. I called Heads Up Sprinkler Company first due to the great Yelp reviews. The voicemail said they were scheduling appointments for a week out, which was fine. I left a message and received a return call the following day. Patty, apparently one of the owners, called to tell me the next available date they could come to work on my sprinklers. It sounded like a long ways away, but I was driving and not able to look at a calendar. I asked her how far out that was and her response was "it's from here to there." Before I could respond to her comment, she mumbled about looking at a calendar and then said it was three weeks out. A bit of a wait is acceptable and anticipated, but three weeks? I was not willing to wait that long and said no thanks. I found Patty to be rude and wouldn't use this business after speaking to her anyway. Response: I didn't mention a sprinkler emergency because I don't have one. I also did not mention that I was driving, so your assertion that you tried not to keep me on the phone to keep me safe is simply untrue. I do find it interesting that you respond faster to honest Yelp reviews than you do to potential customers. read more

A bit of background. I have had my house for 2 years now. Last year I realized there was a leak and called a different sprinkler company, they told me it would take them 2 hours to find the leak. When they came to the house they talked about 8 hrs. I asked them to leave at that point they asked me to pay the 2 hr minimum, I told them to go to *&&% and shut the door. Anyway I yelped this year and found these guys, or should I say girls. Yes there hour charge is higher than other people out there. However they showed up with two guys and a girl. They were REALLY professional, they told me they would look for the leak while doing other things and could not gurantee they would find it, not 30 minutes later they had found it. They charged me for 1.25 hours for all the following work. Locate a mainline leak and repair it (parts). Check controller and battery Check Ohm readings and correct a faulty one. Check all stations (sprinklers) Replaced 2 popup heads Changed 7 Nozzels Raised 1 head and more All with a 1 year warranty on parts and 90 days on work. They send me a bill for 189 including Tax. I was so impressed I called and told PAT to add an additional $30 as a tip on my bill, she said she could not as what they did was their job WOW. Highly Highly recommended. read more

It has been some time since Heads Up Sprinkler came by, and their follow up card reminded me to write that review! I spoke with a few other sprinkler companies before calling Pat. All I wanted was a quick look at my sprinkler system, and an idea of what needed to be changed (part of my yard was not getting irrigation). One company wouldn't come out unless I agreed to pay a per-hour fee (with a minimum), and another just didn't seem interested in getting the business. When I called Pat, she was very friendly, was willing to come out to assess first, was reasonably priced, and seemed knowledgeable. My thought was that they were good on the phone, but I was still concerned about whether they could deliver. They showed up on time, with a crew of 4 people, quickly assessed minor tweaks I needed to make (replacing a few heads), and took the time to show me WHY I needed to change something. They had a lot of expertise, but didn't flaunt it. When I agreed to do the job, they got right to work. No trips to the store, no slacking, and they were done very quickly. They're honest, personable, punctual, reasonably priced, and leave you feeling content that you gave them your hard earned money. You really can't ask for more - these guys are my go-to company for any sprinkler repair. read more

My experience with the Heads Up Sprinkler Company could not have been better. I found them on Yelp, and thanks to all the great reviews, wanted to try them out. I can do most small repairs myself (e.g., change out heads, replace sections of pipe as needed, etc), but after I changed out a head and had no water pressure in the system I knew I needed to call someone who does sprinkler work for a living. I called, and was very patiently and kindly walked through a few trouble-shooting steps I could try on my own, like remove the replaced head and run the system to let the lines clear. I was impressed by that as instead of jumping on the opportunity for a job they told me a few easy things to try to see if it would fix my issue. Sadly, the troubleshooting didn't solve my problem so I called back and was given an appointment within a few days for them to come out and inspect my system. During the inspection they did EVERYTHING, from checking the voltage to my control box to checking the lines for leaks. When I got a call stating that no leaks or anything were my problem I suggested they look at my valves. I informed them of where the valves were located (at least the ones I'd found) and they quickly confirmed they were the issue. They recommended the valves be replaced and estimated a price. I'm a 'have to see it' kind of person, so when I got home I also looked at the valves, not because I did not trust them, but because I personally needed a look to better understand what was going on. When I felt confident I understood the situation and agreed with the need to replace the valves I called and again was given a prompt appointment for them to come do the work. It turned out the work was more complicated than anticipated (thanks to very large roots and needing to rebuild a section containing 3 of my 6 valves). They worked efficiently and were very forthcoming with information (which I need in order to feel comfortable). The best part is originally my valves were buried pretty deep, in the older style of running lines, and as such weren't accessible...but they made sure to run caps at the surface level so now I can easily access any valve without having to dig in the future! Sadly, the work ended up costing quite a bit more than originally anticipated due to the impossible to predict issues (you never know what you have until the dirt is dug up and you can get in there). However, they were amazing to work with and while it wasn't the best news I'd ever received they offered multiple payments if it would help and even gave me a discount to help offset the cost! Rarely do you have the privilege to work with a company that truly cares for the people they serve. In today's world you are lucky if you can get an explanation as to what they are trying to charge for...but Heads Up Sprinkler Company goes the extra mile to not only see if you can troubleshoot the problem yourself, but also that you are well informed and feel comfortable with the work they suggest be completed. I almost forgot, due to a weird setup on one section in my backyard, they recommended (with detailed instructions) a way I could further maximize my system via specialized heads. The instructions included where to buy the heads, how to measure for them and what type to install based upon my measurements. I can't recommend Heads Up Sprinkler Company highly enough. read more

I had to wait a long time earlier this summer because they were so busy and in demand. But they came out and repaired the sprinkler system YEA! They were very nice, helpful and explained what they were doing. I couldn't go outside having just come home a few days before from surgery and I was a little worried about not being able to go outside. But they were great. I called heads up sprinkler today regarding a sprinkler leak at my home. I spoke with Patty Sipe, who went beyond the call of duty to help me. Despite being out of their servicing area, Patty spent 45 minutes with me on the phone helping me trouble shoot the issue. Additionally, she gave me some wonderful tips on water conservation for the lawn and the best way to water during the different seasons. I was very impressed with her knowledge of the business and her willingness to help despite not being able to benefit financially. If they weren't so dang friendly, they'd be getting 3 stars for the simple matter of not allowing customers to pay online. My experience with the repair itself went very smoothly and the men were professional and quick. I would rate this aspect of the service 5 stars. As for value, I don't have anything to compare it to. My bill came to $175 as one of my pipes had come unglued which seems a little high for the amount of work that went into fixing it, but as I said before...I have nothing to compare it to so I really don't know if this is the norm. I did not shop around. They didn't ask for payment when the job was done, said that they'd put a bill in the mail. The bill took quite some time to arrive...about a month. Since there was no online payment option on the bill, I forgot about it instead of immediately paying since I do not use checks on any sort of regular basis. They were very polite and called me to find out if something was wrong as a gentle reminder for payment and I appreciate that because I would have forgotten again. Not being able to pay online or with paypal in today's modern day and age is completely unacceptable. Setting up a paypal account and dropping a link on their website would be quick and easy...no one is asking them to build an online payment system. Paper bills, checks, stamps and mail are things of the past. Time to modernize. read more

I had a stuck valve and my sprinklers wouldn't shut off. To add to my freakout, I didn't know how to shut it off. I googled sprinkler repair and the Yelp page for heads up appeared with a video tutorial on shutting the water off. I got an appointment and Matt discovered that a huge tree root had damaged my valve. They chopped it out and rebuilt my valve. He even showed me how to program my system. I called Heads Up because a coworker used them and they had what appeared to be good reviews. I've learned to read my Yelp reviews differently from this experience. I had a problem that we both agreed on the phone was a broken wire most likely from tree roots. They found and fixed my problem. There are the 2 stars. What I now know about this company is that they take this situation to inspect and take care of your entire system. It is mentioned in Lauren's review. They don't ask, they just fix whatever needs repair or adjustment after doing multiple test. They did $165 worth of parts replacement without asking. Labor separate. Yes my system is old and your recommendation to replace may be close to right. Another reason not to do repairs. Now the final reason for 2 stars. When I mentioned that the repairs were not discussed and that they should have asked, I got an ear full from Patty. Sara and Dena both mentioned that she can act less than professional. I would call it condescending and sarcastic. She wanted to put the old parts back on my system even though it had been over a week and a half. She still has my cheap Home Depot sprinkler heads sitting around she claimed. Sara is right. She has an issue with Home Depot and DIY. Just found two sprinkler heads that were adjusted from a correct placement in the ground to this half out of the ground. These are my sprinkler heads that they charged me to adjust to an incorrect and unprofessional placement. I would call and ask them to fix it but not worth the hassle of dealing with them. I know they won't admit the mistake and give me the money they charged back. Really, be careful with this group. read more

I used the Heads UP sprinkler service mainly due to good rating on Yelp. After my experience with the manager, Ms Patty, I don't recommend their service. After detecting water leak in my front yard, I dug out but could not find exact location. So I asked Heads up sprinkler. Two guys came and took about 10-15 min to find that leakage was from water service line. (Note: most digging work was done by our side, otherwise they can not locate leaking spot in short time). Then Ms Patty came and told me that we should replace the service line part with good one. After about 15-20 min for searching service line part, she told me that she can't find the correct part. Surprisingly, she mentioned that they can not work on water service line because of license limitation. That is to say, I need find another plumber to fix. They then moved to check our sprinkler system in next about 20 min and suggested that the sprinkler controller was out of order and should be replaced with a good one. Two guys helped to replace some sprinkler head parts. When I asked for the payment, Ms Patty said that she would send invoice later. I missed the first notice. when I received the second notice, I found they charged three categories: 1. service performed for $125; 2. PVC pipe primer & 7 -11 solvent cement, shovels, pipe cutters, ....; 3. Parts fee. I called Ms Patty to make sure the charges are accurate. She said it took 1 hour 5 min. (Iikely she recorded time in accuracy of 5 min) and she just charged for one hour. That is OK for one hour ( I even don't like to argue that She left for about 15-20 min to seek service line part which is out of her license range). She blabla about the parts detail. That is OK. I just make sure that is right one. The concern focused on second category. Here is the list of the items: PVC pipe primer & 7-11 Solvent Cement, Shovels, Pipe Cutters, Gloves, hand towels, electronic troubleshooting tools, hand tools. First of all, several items are never used: PVC pipe primer, Solvent cement, and Pipe cutters. Are they kidding me on chemistry? No chemicals (solvent cement) used during their work. Second, most of digging work is done by my side and we did not use their tools. Ms Patty said that they just randomly put some items on the list. She insisted that the second part is not included in the first $125. We can not make agreement in the phone. Then she called me to give me $5 discount when I drove. I said I can not accept at that time. After (about 1~3) weeks, I received the notice again. During weekend I decided to resolve this issue. Monday I called her again. I complained the service fee. She insisted that 1 hour 5 min. It seems that She already give me discount for 5 min, (I did not understand because I didn't mention the work time). Another reason for me to call her, not her calling me, is to check whether she can receive electronic payment like credit card. we are not in 20th century to mail every payment check. (note: I can not even move to this step because of the following reasons) To make me write this post is that she said I never contact them and pay them immediately once I received the invoice. It seems that I need to pay immediately even I disagree with the charge items. (OMG, you are GOD to be paid immediately?). Furthermore, she even said I consider her a liar because I challenged all items in the call. First of all, I never said anything like that in the call. It is reasonable for me to confirm the items before I pay the bill. Should I pay non-existing items before I examine the bill? If I send invoice to charge Ms Patty in the same way, what is her feeling? Second, I told her that calling her is to solve this issue and there is no reason to call her without any progress. Nobody has much free time to argue with nonsense. To be fair and unbiased, the service guys were OK to figure out the sprinkler controller issue and service line leak. But I had bad experience on the charge, especially Ms Patty's attitude. (Note: I found similar review about her attitude on Yelp). That is the reason I gave one star for service quality, minus 4 stars for above reasons. Final: I don't recommend Heads UP sprinkler. Headache on sprinkler. read more
