I had a spectacular evening here! We rolled in from out of town for a local comicon and wanted to headstart the nerd weekend vibes early! I loved the stations equipped with different gaming consoles, readily available board games, and the DDR cabinet (and other arcade machines) set to free play! I tried the Mothman!! Cocktail and the bacon egg and cheese burger. The food and service were impeccable! I'll be craving those fries the next time I have a burger anywhere. It was fun browsing the hobby shop side and everyone there was so friendly, swapping D&D stories and game recommendations. We met up with some friends while we were in Wichita. We sat in the back, where they have items (trading cards, trading card accessories, board games, Warhammer, etc.) for purchase. We had a party of 7, and we all played Cards Against Humanity. I ordered a cocktail in an IV Bag on theme since Halloween was a week prior. It was a cute gimmick, but the beverage was just ok. I got a beer flight after seeing one of our friends get one, and he said the beers were flat. Sadly, I had to agree that my flight was also flat and we tried different kinds. I did not get any food here, but some people in our party did and seemed to enjoy it. We then played some of the video games (they got arcade cabinets, Hyperkin RetroN style consoles where you can play NES/SNS/N64, and more), pinball, and they even have pool. The staff was chill and attentive. They have a change machine to get quarters to play the games, and a plethora of board games you can play as well. Plenty of parking as it's in a large strip mall. Imagine paying a $5 cover charge to enter a store. Whether or not you are there to shop or use their tabletop/console setup you will be paying to get in, never mind if you are going to spend hundreds at their store. I came in to play magic, I came alone and sat alone for about two hours waiting for anyone wanting to play. During that time I opened a tab. Later, after I had found a group and played for a while when I went to close my tab I found a surprise $6 charge for a large group fee. Nevermind my group only had 4 players at a table, and that there was no signage or warning anywhere talking about this charge. Had I not opened a tab I would not have had to pay the charge at all. When I went to talk to them about it, there was no understanding that I had been alone for a large portion of the night, or that the group wasn't as large as they said it was (the charge is for 6+ people). It also didn't matter that I spend money at their store basically every time I come in. This place does not care, only wants to suck your money out of you any way it can. The service is awful. I could understand having no table service at all since it considers itself a bar, but to have random staff walking around maybe once an hour if you are lucky, asking for your order, it's just not good. Safe to say I'll go spend my money somewhere else. read more

We had a very nice time at Headshots. Our waiter was probably one of the most enthusiastic people I've ever met. He was MADE for that job. Truly truly loved what he was doing and that made me happy for him. They obviously have every game you can imagine and were lucky enough to get a seat in front of one the TVs for the video games. I really wanted to like this place a lot more. I enjoy table top games, and also enjoy playing switch games. The first thing I noticed when I came inside with my boyfriend, is that there was little to no AC. So, it was very hot and not comfortable inside. The next disappointing experience was the food. I know you do not necessarily come here for the food specifically, but it came out cold and tasted like something straight out of the Walmart freezer isle. The cleanliness didn't feel up to par either. Tables were sticky, and table top games didn't seem sanitized or very clean at all. I didn't like that you kind of have to scout out a good place to sit. Once I sat down, I had people eyeing my table and I felt very uncomfortable as if I had to hurry up with my gaming experience. It's not a comfortable place to sit and play a table top game either, the environment is much too loud and chairs are uncomfortable. This place wasn't completely awful, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to come. My wife and I came here last week for food, I like the ghost in a shell burger. Ordered our food and it came out. Food is not terrible, I asked for the drinks and they bring me cups and I'm like what do I do with these???? Apparently you have to get your own drinks which isn't a big deal but the other 3 or 4 times we have came here either for gaming or food they have brought our drinks to us. I have never been told I need to get my own drinks here or I would have been ok with it. So I asked Ryan(the owner) about this he was rude and told me to considered myself told that we have to get our own drinks. Me and my husband took our 2 boys(11 and 6yrs) and we had a great time! It was our first time and the staff was so nice and explained everything about the games and were quick to switch out the games. If you've never been there before i recommend reserving a table on the website. We went on a saturday night which was busy and I'm glad we reserved a couch because that is how you can play the playstation,switch,nintendo etc. and that's what my boys wanted to do primarily. If you don't reserve a couch then you have to wait until somebody moves which my boys would have been upset since the video games on the tv's are the main reason for us going. They do have a lot of board games but we ran out of time to try them out. We ordered pizza which was very good but at first we didn't know how to get our drinks because the server just sat the cups on the table. After 5 minutes i got up and noticed a fountain machine so I just figured we were suppose to get our own. After we left (came all the way from Maize) I tried to cancel my reservation but they made sure to charge my account so that I'm unable to cancel and get my refund. We are a group of local firefighters doing a burger palooza for the month of November. Burgers every shift through November. Pizza through October, burgers through November. We ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, bacon cheeseburger, and the burger and egg burger. Each burger was between $10-$12 each! With no fries! Burger only. They claim to serve Angus, grass fed beef. Spangles also claims to have Angus steak burgers but not for 10 bucks. We also ordered two orders of their regular fries. Each order was supposed to be 1/2 pound at around four dollars each. We open the box and wondered where all the fries were. Did they fall out on the way back to the station? Very disappointing. They were probably frozen also and then thawed and cooked. Five guys offers about the same amount for their fries but it's a huge bag. When it came to the flavor of the burgers, we wondered where that was too! Very blah! Where else can you go, where you an be a kid, but still be around adults? Headshots Grill & Bar is the place to be. It's a fun casual environment where gamers and novice/casual gamers can try out different game systems and play them for free. If you've been to Dave and Busters or Insert Coins in Vegas, this place has a similar feel to it. They serve meals and surprisingly a good selection of different beers. So if you're a beer snob, there are choices here. I came here with 2 other friends who game on a regular basis, but have never combined the two in a public social setting. Walking into the place is a very long room that is encompassed by plush furnished seating with huge LCD screens, plenty of seating for dining, and a long bar to sit at. Every screen is lit up with different games playing in loop where you can find x-box 360, ps3, and wii. The menu is your standard bar food items that are sandwiches and fried finger foods. It's fairly simple and has a few choices that the crowd its attracted would eat. I ordered the Angus burger with fries, and my friend had the fish and chips. We came in on a Wednesday night, which wasn't too busy so our food only took about 15-20 minutes. The food was nothing too impressive, but priced reasonably. The burger was topped with tomato, lettuce, sauteed onions, cheese, and a butter toasted bun. It tasted pretty good but the patty was probably a pre-made type. I think if they switched to something fresher, they could really have something. Fries were seasoned and hot and fresh. My friend's fish and chips kinda looked disappointing. For 10 dollars the dish looked pretty small and unflattering. Majority of the meals will be under $10 which is a good value. The food was okay, but I think if they worked on using some fresh ingredients and not the pre-made stuff they can be competitive in that arena. My only nitpick would be the controllers. They are gamestop branded controllers, thus the button layout will be a bit different than your stock wired controller. I did speak with the owner Ryan, and he mentioned if you have your own controller you want to bring in and use, he would be happy to accommodate anyone who brings one. read more

Now unfortunately after work I do show up around the time the kitchen closes so food is almost never an option for me (I work closing shifts at my job). But now that they close at 2, I can spend quite a bit more time there. Beer selection ain't bad. It's mostly local-brewed beer, and none of that corporate crap. Went here with my wife on a Friday night. Upon entering Headshots we were greeted by a nice waitress who asked if we had ever been here. We had not so she went down the list of available games as well as food and drink. We took a seat at one of the tables available which had very nice coffee table and couch. I can't comment on the food at all but the beer selection was decent. A couple of tallgrass brews, boulevard wheat, angry orchard, and domestics on tap. The atmosphere was very chill with a solid 90s rock mix playing. The game selection was very good and let's be honest there is nothing else quiet like this in Wichita. No fee for any of the games is a huge plus. I saw a group of people playing all sorts of games from Super Smash Brothers to Madden football to Left4Dead. We ended up playing Mario kart wii and later switched to NBA JAM wii and Mortal Kombat on ps3. The only draw back would be that you need to ask for a staff member to change games and as another reviewer has stated the controllers are gamestop editions. I worry that people may lose interest in games there and perhaps adding some classic gaming consoles that people haven't touch in years would be great. All and all I think it's a great place for a small group to relax and play some games together. read more

I've been here a few times and the service was decent. On this recent visitation to Head Shots Bar & Grill, we didn't get served or offered any menus for 37 minutes exactly. We knew the staff were aware of our presence because of all awkward glares me and an acquaintance got once we walked through the doors, and quite honestly I felt being a person of color had a great deal to do with it as other customers who differed in appearance received superior customer service. Once we finally did receive our beer from the server we drank chatted and thought nothing of the aforementioned lack in customer service. The owner (Ryan) came up to us (after we had drank and paid for our beer) and told us if we weren't going to order anything we would have to leave. We kindly informed him that we just finished a pitcher of beer, --still on the table-- and we're waiting until more friends arrived to order more. He then proceeded to repeat himself more sternly as if we said nothing to him. We finally decided to just get up and leave. The concept of a gaming bar is an appealing thing but not exclusive to Headshots itself, however it's terrible in customer service, people of color (my experience and seeing other reviews from people of color) are looked down upon, but the disdain is covered up in false professionalisms; and from the OWNER of all people as if the the same "courtesies" from the staff weren't bad enough. It was hot as sin the last time I went in. Nearly unbearable. I sure hope they had that sorted out. The food is technically food. With so much going on in there you don't need to expect fantastic food. The process for getting food and drinks at the couches/game stations is tough but I'm nit picking here. I'd like to see some retro cabinets there. That would be cool and would be more in line with what you see an older crowd out. Maybe the two stars aren't fair, but it was terribly hot in there and the experience would be so much cooler to my 31 year old sensibilities with some retro arcade cabinets as opposed to games I can play at home.
