We had a large chimney repair done last week that involved some removal and rebuild of the upper chimney, liner installation, resurfacing and caps installed. This was a massive job performed in a professional manner with all rubbish removed following the job. Luke and Jess were very professional and personable and I will call them for all of our chimney, wood stove needs in the future. These guys are a joke. Don't return phone calls, skip estimate visits, rude, and nearly none of the products on the website are in the store. I was warned by several friends to give my business to someone else, but wanted to support a neighborhood business. BIG MISTAKE. These guys are small time, arrogant, could care less about the customer experience. They acted as if they were doing me a favor by even answering the phone. Bought 3 gas fireplaces with installation from another local store... totally opposit experience. Run far and fast from these guys if you value your time and energy. read more

I hired Hearth & Stove to install a new chimney liner in my (older) home. They gave me a quote that I accepted. As it turned out, my chimney had obstructions and required the team to have to complete the project on a second day after they got different tools and equipment. Ultimately they had to find a way to get the liner in by going through a small wallspace. It was a way more difficult and time consuming project than anticipated (about 3x the time), and I had no additional charges and the work was performed expertly despite all of the hiccups. We had a problem with our gas fireplace. It would turn on - but then the flame would start to flicker and eventually died. A friend recommended Hearth & Stove and I made an appointment. The two gentleman that showed up were timely, courteous, efficient and knowledgeable. They made the necessary repairs and included a few maintenance add-ons. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with any kind of fireplace issue! read more

Just don't waste your time. Priced higher than their competitors and awful service. Made me wait 3 weeks for a guy to come round to assess a quote and then lied twice about when I'd get my quote, never called me, I had to chase them and finally the snarky guy at the store started to lecture me about needing to be patient for him to get back to me. Yeah, right. Going to order what I want off the internet ($500 cheaper) and then find a local contractor to do the install. read more

I had them come out and check my old gas fireplace (not installed by them) because the pilot light had been getting larger over time. Apparently the fireplace was supposed to have sand in the bottom of it to disperse the flames, and without the sand everything was melting. They credited the cost of the service visit towards the installation of a new unit. I went to the store to buy a new set. Unlike some other people's experiences, the owner was very helpful, answered all questions, and demonstrated a bunch of different fireplace sets. The prices looked slightly cheaper online, but the benefits of going to the store are you can see all the options and not worry about having the giant set shipped to you. Both the service visit and installation visit were right on time and used a drop cloth to avoid making a mess. read more

Unfortunately, I have to give them the lowest rating. I visited a few times talking through my project, including the dimensions of the room. I was having the fireplace installed by my construction crew, so they were also involved (and bear some of this responsibility). It turns out I purchased a $4k plus stove that was too big and too much for the size room I have. And, there's a no return policy. Frustrating. They did offer to see if they could get some sort of restocking charge, which was never followed-up on. I have a fireplace now and am probably going to install it in another room or sell it on eBay. Note that I did find an on-line store that offers a broader selection and also has a return policy with no restocking fee. I think Hearth & Stove needs to update it's approach. The guys are very nice, however, and as long as you fit the approach they have, seem very helpful and supportive. This is what makes this review so difficult. read more

Walked in fully intending to spend money. The guy was rude,and almost resentful of my questions. When I asked if any of the floor models would be able to show me an example of a gas flame. I got a pathetic look with a sarcastic"Uh .... go on the internet?" Thanks for all your time but, I'm off to Dreifuss fireplce showroom. read more

These guys are rude and inconsiderate of others. Their work is awful and they were a disaster from start to finish. The only good review they received on yelp must be from a friend because I don't know how these guys are still in business with the attitude they have with customers. I went to the store twice to replace my vent free gas log set. THe owner was singularly unhelpful, and the second time, tried to shoo me out of the store. He said I needed to come back a third time to see a working version, and he said there was no point in emailing him a photo as it would take too long for him to get to it. Not good customer vibe. read more

Called on Monday to set up an appointment to have to faulty gas fireplaces look at at our office. Gentleman stated I would receive a call back later that day with their first available appointment. Going on day four with no response back from them. Not a great way to earn more business folks. Won't even bother considering them for anything in the future. read more

I bought firewood from Hearth and Stove. They delivered on time and gave me twice as much wood as I paid for. However, the wood was wet and dirty, so it doesn't look so good in my apartment right now. read more
