We decided to do a catered thanksgiving dinner for our feast this year. We ordered 12 meals. When we arrived the day before the holiday we rolled up around back, we gave them our name, and loaded up in less than five minutes. On thanksgiving day we heated the bread pan style dishes in the oven and served them. I'm telling you, this is the way to do Thanksgiving!! You get mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with a candied pecan and maple glaze, turkey breast and dark meat, stuffing, and a vegetable medley. The meal came with a cranberry compote. It was cranberry, orange, ginger and clove. Delicious. There was gravy, and au jus to thin up the gravy. It also came with rolls. No cleaning up dishes, or the hassle of cooking the food. Pick it up, heat it up, eat it, and save it, or toss it. What more could you ask for! I would highly recommend. read more

I think they have the right idea, but not the best execution. We had the Duck, the Wagyu burger, and the Chicken dishes. The flavors were innovative and cohesive, but everything was overcooked - the meats, the bread, the pasta. Unfortunately the older building couldn't handle the summer heat, so it was pretty hot. One of the worst birthday celebrations I've ever had. Service was absolutely vacant, honestly absent. Food was palatable, but not impressive. There was no one to respond to our empty water & beverage glasses, nor further dining needs. Tip was included @20%, but not earned (only a party of 3). No management available to speak with. When we asked for help, the kitchen staff was visible eating fries with their food prep gloves on. Pretty sure this earns a health violation? The location earned the single star given. read more

This may be the hardest review I've had to give... Beautiful place to eat and whether you enjoy it depends on what you order- I highly advise asking them what's included in the recipe of whichever dish you choose. I chose the Lamb shank and let me tell you it was the worst lamb I've ever tried! If i could give negative stars I would because I dont know what possessed the chef to marinate the lamb with maple syrup but it was a horrible mistake it literally made me sick I actually have a stomachache while making this review. I had to use lemons to basically strip the maple flavor off which didnt really work because it was really in there. The salmon on the other hand was delicious (mind you i dont even like salmon but i hated the lamb so much that i tried it and it was amazing) and the fries were perfectly fried! We were so excited to have New Years dinner tasting and it was also our 35th aWe never ate here and heard food was good. Unfortunately the service was awful. We left. We ordered cocktails to start but had some questions. We never saw our waitress back to the table. There was also a wine pairing but nobody came back. Then they started serving food? 1st tasting, still we waited for cocktails. Then a guy comes with drinks we did not order... then a second course but we did not eat the first tasting. We got up and left. The owner stopped us apologizing and wanting to make things right. Nice jester, but evening was already ruined. Delightful. I took my husband here to celebrate his birthday and we ordered the Chefs Tasting, in addition to that we enjoyed the charcuterie. To say we were impressed and delighted is an understatement. We talked about the dinner for multiple nights. Food: we charcuterie was yummy and interesting with local cheeses. As part of the chefs tasting menu we were served: three salads both were delicious, a rabbit appetizer (we had never had rabbit before and it was so yummy the broth was outstanding), a caprese salad and the basil foam was actual full of flavor, for entrees we had the duck and the pork. The duck was cooked so well with a crispy skin and tender meat served with a savory and rich sauce over pasta. The pork was also cooked well and the maple broth/glaze was so full of flavor. A stand out part of the entrees was a potato that I can't even describe how it was cooked but it was one of my favorite things I've ever tried. Ambiance: we were seated on the balcony and loved our view and how private everything felt. This is the only reason for not getting 5 stars - there was very outdated food based artwork on the walls that made it feel like we were at a food truck, or even a fast food restaurant in the city. There was also a "living wall" that we could see and it was either the back of the wall or it was just being set up - it was a little distracting. Olive oil - there was a lot of olive oil for purchase and what we had at the table was delightful. I liked this little addition to the restaurant. This place has fallen so far. Showed up on a Friday night, asked for my favorite drink and they were out of everything to make it. Asked for another and they didn't have the ingredients for that one either. The server blamed management, but didn't know what they had behind the bar either way ‍. Also, heads up, they've got a minimum 20% gratuity that they won't tell you about ahead of time. Doesn't matter how trash the service is. Big bummer. Won't be back. My first time at this restaurant, will not return. I went with a group of colleagues from out of town. The service was awful, 45 minutes to get a drink. The server claimed the bartender was working on it. Finally two cans of beer with glasses came out and they were poured. More time passed then 3 mixed drinks. The multi-course menu consisted of one bite of each course until the main course. I had the beef which was excellent but a very small portion. Don't come here expecting to get full for the high price, and don't expect to have your glass filled. Our dinner service took 3 hours. Given the high reviews, something was off, but I was embarrassed having this place represent our Utah work site. Bummer experience but I want to give it a second chance. I had heard great things about Hearth and 25 and it's definitely one of the nicest places in Ogden. Set up Valentine's Day dinner there and was very let down. Didn't know there was going to be a set holiday menu. The portions sizes of the 10ish courses were extremely small (we got a pizza on the way home). The waiters were friendly but didn't explain the plates well (possibly newer and learning). It was just a very expensive dinner for a poor experience and leaving hungry. Planning to give it another shot in the future on a regular night so we can laugh about how bad our VDay experience was and actually enjoy a meal! Sorry for the bad review guys! read more

We decided to drive to Ogden from our vacation co do in Eden. It was well worth the drive. We had one of the best meals we have ever had. We ordered the chef's tasting menu. Each and every dish was fantastic, delicious, and fun. The wine list had two of our favorites that we have never seen in a wine list before. The service was impeccable. We even purchased some olive oil. The selection was extensive to say the least. We live in SLC. We have decided to drive back to Ogden soon with friends to visit this restaurant again. I think this restaurant is more of a spot for wine and small plates as the large plates were a little disappointing. We got the octopus small plate which was good. However, the pork large plate dinner was overly sweet and drowned out all the other flavor profiles. The mushroom and fennel was oily and flavorless. Also, the service was disappointing. The idea of an upscale restaurant in Ogden sounded amazing. However this is not an upscale restaurant, while it is a lot nicer than most of the bar restaurants in the area it's just ok. Most of the food was extremely high vinegar based to create flavor. The salmon was over cooked, served upside down with the skin on top. The drinks were extremely strong and tasted like they were made with less quality liquor. The photos on Yelp convinced my wife and I that this should be a place we'd like. In the end, I hated it. I ate less than 1/2 my meal. Three hummus plate... some chocolate thing (not hummus), a tasteless white thing and an OK orange one that didn't taste like what the server described it as. Liked the mega thin seed-based crackers though. Free bread with oil and balsamic: bad combo of flavors with blood orange oil and chocolate balsamic. They just didn't go together in an enjoyable way. I love creative combos that surprise, but this was something I don't want to repeat. I also had the Burrata salad. I LOVE Burrata cheese, but this is the first time I've ever hated it. It was hard-ish as if they wet it sit out for a day or two. It should have an outer layer similar to mozzarella with a gooey center that reminds one of a pouched eggs. That was all rather hard and disappointing. They had four kinds of water to chose from, but only one Cabernet, one Malbec, etc. ...and they never asked if we wanted a refill. They just brought the bill without our prompting. I had a Yelp $20 for $10 deal and to redeem it, she took my phone to somewhere outside my view for 5+ minutes (unacceptable! Just write down the code on the screen). I really like creative food that brings pleasant surprises to my dinner experience... this was not that. It was food I wish I never tasted. The chef at Hearth accomplishes through culinary art what so many of us can only dream of: combining ingredients to create a beautiful and complex umami. There are plenty of restaurants that attempt to create intricate and artistic dishes, but alas, in comparison to Hearth, it's a mere cacaphony of flavor. I've only been to two establishments that have been able to pull off visual and flavor combinations of this caliber. One is Morimoto NYC in New York. The other is Hearth on 25th. For the less daring, you can find traditional favorites like burgers and stroganoff. These won't disappoint. That said, try the offbeat. Ask the knowledgeable staff about the dishes for an even greater appreciation of the menu. And for those who partake of alcohol, the mixed drinks to accompany the meal are equally wonderful. And save room for dessert. Your palate will be delighted with homemade ice cream or the best rice pudding in town. For the more daring, however, the desserts can be as unique as the entrees. Where else can you ever try a sea urchin macaroon? I'm so glad Hearth is in my hometown. I only make it there once or twice a year, but when I do, I always leave happy. read more

Low quality food and service, establishment needs a complete overhaul, it's old and looks it. For the price I would not go back

Food: We had a few items, but I tried the truffle fries, stroganoff and posset. The fries were really good... lots of garlic and salt. Plus the sauce they served with it was like a creamy mayonnaise with a twist. The stroganoff was a little bland, there really wasn't much taste to it, sadly. I mean, the meat with it was tender and it was a generous portion, but it was lacking a really solid depth of flavor, like mushroom or onions or even like a thick beef broth draped over it. That was a little disappointing. But the Posset ended the meal on a high note, very delicious, creamy and tart pudding or yogurt or whatever it was. Service: Our servers were very nice, no complaints. As I always have said, I don't need a server to come over every 5 minutes to see how I am doing so I appreciate that they gave us some space. I was sad that they were out of hazelnut cake though... Atmosphere: Totally cool inside, reminds me of a cute French restaurant. A little dark, nice ambiance, lots of drinks to choose from. Very neat and since it is on the second floor, you get to look down on the city streets. Price: It's a little more pricy than I was expecting, but everything seems to be going up so I'm not really surprised. Still, I always say if the food is worth it, it's okay. Plan to spend 30-40$ a person here. Overall: It's a pretty cool place, love the atmosphere and the food was pretty good too, but I wasn't floored. A colleague said their salmon was awesome so perhaps I should have gotten that instead...? Either way, I'd come back to try more things on their menu and see if something else gives me that 5th star WOW factor. read more

Came to celebrate our anniversary we both ordered the surf and turf for $36 I thought I'd get more than a sliver of steak and 3 shrimp and and spoon full of veggies. After reading previous, mixed reviews about Hearth on 25th, I decided to go with an open mind. We met up with friends for a birthday dinner on a Friday night and it was absolutely dead except for one room where they sat every party (not super COVID friendly). We had arrived early so we were waiting for the rest of our party for about 5-10 minutes. Our waiter stopped by to say hi when we sat down but then didn't see him again for about 15 minutes after the remainder of the party arrived. Once our waiter returned, we ordered an appetizer and drinks. It took then another 10 minutes for those to come out. When we had his attention again, we ordered our main meals (4 burgers and a salmon dish). The appetizer we ordered was the large charcuterie which was tasty and held us over until the remainder of our food arrived, but honestly wasn't that large. When our main course arrived, we weren't impressed. Fries were too salty, buns were soggy, and the salmon was dry. Thank goodness for the check in option on Yelp because we saved some money off of our bill, but we will not be returning again. read more

Really disappointed in this place. Hearth was recommended to me by friends who ate there repeatedly pre-pandemic. Apparently it is a very different restaurant now. Friday night at 6:30, and only 4 tables were filled. In hindsight, this should have been a big clue. It never got any busier, compared to the restaurant next door that had people standing outside in 28° weather, waiting to get seated. Two of us for dinner. I had the pear salad. A large plate of mixed greens, 5 THIN slices of pear, and some candied nuts. Oh, and it had 1 piece of dried fig. Both of us had the pork dinner with Israeli couscous and vegetables. Mine was ok, hers was so full of fat that she only had about 40% edible meat. Both dinners had about 1 tablespoon of couscous. And the waitress dumps vinegar sauce on your food without even asking. The vinegar didn't improve the food. With desserts, our 2 dinners, salad, and 2 cocktails each came to a bit over $200. Folks, pay attention here: This place automatically adds a 20% tip to your bill- it's non-negotiable. They claim there is a notice "somewhere near the register". In a best case scenario, this was a $100 dinner. I've had far better dinners for far less at The Timbermine and The Graycliff Lodge. Bottom line: Give this place a hard pass- it's not worth your time or money. read more

(Mandatory Gratuity 20% really hinders actual service, servers know they get 20% regardless of whether they are good or not) Had a reservation to what we thought was a decent dining experience. We get seated in the back room near the sliding glass doors by ourselves, Had to specifically get up to see if we could order drinks at the bar (you can't) after 20 minutes of waiting for a server to realize they had a table to serve. Once they had came by and gathered a drink order, waited another 20 minutes until I once again had to get up and ask what is wrong. It was at this point my wife and I had decided if they had not come within the next 5 minutes, we were leaving. Fortunately, yet also unfortunately, they came with drinks that were not special, and were pretty standard bar drinks (Their Moscow Mule, and what seemed to be a lemon drop, even though she ordered vodka with pineapple). We had already decided we were not going to test out the main dishes after the first 20 minutes waiting there, didn't want to stress out a restaurant that has 5-7 tables and can't maintain them all. Their 6 oysters were nothing special. Asked for check and of course the bill is the fastest thing to the table. Promptly left to never return. Thank god we went here to test it out, rather than be utterly disappointed for the $90/person NYE special (which would actually cost around $270 for 2 when you add in the drinks and the 20% mandatory gratuity) Lastly, for potential customers of this establishment, if you value your time and money, don't go here. For the managers and owners of this establishment: - Eliminate 20% mandatory gratuity (Your servers will actually work) - Teach whoever is pouring drinks how to pour drinks (2 very different drinks, tasted the exact same) - Don't have people get sat in a location where no one passes by and the hostess not tell anyone people are back there. I feel bad leaving a bad review but wow! From start to finish was just ...horrible...and I feel bad for saying that but have some pride in your food/service. First it took around 10 minutes to even meet our waitress and then she was clueless about their drink menu and what they even had in stock. We over heard from another waiter that the owner didn't put in an order for liquor before he left for vacay (kind of shows how much the owner doesn't even care about good service) so ok but get on the ball just look at your small menu and let us know what you do have in stock. I'm a pretty easy person but I was not impressed. Then the food...um I'm willing to eat a meal that isn't that great but when you can tell there is no effort whatsoever put in the meal...really?!?! Absolutely no flavor and my chicken was so dry I could barely chew it, as it was floating in a bowl of water pretty much. Just can't even put into words how disappointing. I've earned here before and it was absolutely delicious so I was very excited to return but was sadly disappointed. For $32, there was a 4 oz salmon on the menu with cannellini beans, buckwheat. The sliver of salmon was cooked very nicely but didn't taste super fresh but I was unable to get the waitress's attention to ask for a lemon slice until I was almost finished. The cannellini I beans were so hard they were inedible as I feared GI distress (which I am now already feeling) the waitress offered to replace a side dish from another entree so I requested leeks. She confirmed tne tif was from the chicken entree and then brought me a plate of pasta, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. Not a leek in sight. I asked her about it and she said, I confirmed with you that you wanted the side dish for the chicken. At that point, I just gave up. It did not have a lot of flavor. A mandatory 20% gratuity was added and I ordered bottle of sparkling water so I paid over $50 for a very small piece of not incredibly fresh salmon and water. I am really sad to be writing this, but our experience was fairly underwhelming, the space is outdated and tired. We were seated in a spot that had a view of the town but it was quite cold. With a feeling of coziness and warmth in the name of the restaurant, I'd expect the space to be a little bit more comforting. In terms of the menu, oysters were out and rabbit wasn't available. My partner and I both chose to go with the 4 course menu for $50, so I'm gonna list the items we ordered: Apps: Cajun shrimp (1) Yak meatball (1) Truffle fries (ordered as extra) Soups: Tomato bisque Potato soup Mains: Octopus Surf and turf Desserts: Cheesecake Chocolate earl gray The restaurant presents itself as a fine dining establishment, with serving amuse bouche, a palate cleanser in between courses and mignardise to go. While the gesture is nice, the whole experience is not quite there. Most of the courses were visually appealing, but the tastes were just okay. For example the current version of the octopus should be removed from the winter menu in my opinion. The octopus was hard and dry, and the bed of quinoa with pickled onion was cold (quite tasty though). It could be a nice light and refreshing summer dish if the octopus was actually executed properly. The surf and turf was comforting, beef was cooked medium well (asked for medium) but I can't say I loved the carrot/brussels side with the shrimp. Weirdly enough, I ordered a bloody mary with my dinner, but it was bland, basically just a tomato juice with no kick to it. The house pickles were good. The soups were mediocre, honestly, some seasoning wouldn't hurt, maybe fresh herbs, maybe salt flakes. Yak meatball was tasty, and the cajun shrimp on a crostini was okay. Truffle fries were the best part of the meal, sadly. I was expecting for the chocolate earl gray to be a chocolate mousse, but it was a mousse crisp (my fault for not reading it properly). Cheesecake was nothing mindblowing. I guess, my expectations were too high after seeing some of the photos of beautifully composed and colorful dishes online. With the high price point for most of the main dishes, I also expected something a little bit more unique (both of the main courses we ordered were over $30). My friends in Ogden continually tell me that there's nothing happening in Weber County. They clearly haven't tried Hearth. Such a fun place for a date night, or just eating out with the family. It's got a 20's kind of speakeasy vibe going on, and as good as the ambiance was the food was what hooked me. Please please please order the charcuterie board. First, you should be doing this everywhere that offers one anyways, second, the one here was so good. We ordered the smallest version for just me and my wife, and it was a perfect size, tasty, and BEAUTIFUL. Everything they do here at Hearth is from local ingredients, which really helps the board shine. We also had the goat cheese pear salad. We were warned that it's not entree sized and it wasn't, really more of a small side salad, so in case your waiter/waitress doesn't tell you consider yourself warned. It was very tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. Same goes for their two takes on pizza, the Pig and Fig Bread and the Salita Pizza. The flavors were spot on. I was a little surprised they cooked the prosciutto on the Pig and Fig, but it tasted great nonetheless. The crust was a missed opportunity. Clearly hand made, with great flavor, but was lacking in the crisp factor. Just a little too soft for my liking. I've seen other reviews complaining about service, but ours was stellar tonight. We had multiple people check up on us, they gave us some samples of their oil and vinegar selections, all gratis. They took their time to explain the menu and everything that was on our charcuterie board. Really perfect. The only reason they're missing a star is the pizza crust. I wish I could give 4.5 because it wasn't a huge deal, but Hearth delivered a near perfect experience. I will be back. read more

We made reservations for 7:30pm snd we were seated right away. Ten minutes later, our water glasses were filled. Our waitress came another 15 mins later. We ordered a bottle of wine. Another 15 mins later, the waitress came back and said they were out of the wine. We ordered bar drinks and food at that time. She said she'd be right back to refill our water. No such luck. We had been there a full hour with no water refills and no bar drinks, so we left. As we left snd I told the hostess why we were leaving, another woman was also speaking to the hostess about the poor service. She had not received utensils or water in an hours time. We got the CHEF's tasting - literally the worst experience I have EVER had at a restaurant of this caliber. The owner was apparently out of town and "forgot" to put in the wine order (I shouldn't know this as a customer, waitress threw the owner under the bus). She proceeded to not know ANYTHING about the drink menu options and didn't have a menu. She said "what are you thinking?" And I said a red blend - she said she didn't drink wine and didn't know anything about it, couldn't help me. I told her a bottle of cab would work, she came back almost 30 minutes later with a bottle - didn't even know the price of the bottle. I got the duck main, Pasta was still hard and not cooked, duck was legitimately raw. The dumplings in my partner's meal were straight dough in the middle and I couldn't even stick a fork through the chicken it was so tough. - I paid $211 for a meal for two and legitimately, this is the worst meal I can remember having. I used to LOVE this place - service was horrible. I would recommend apple bees over here (and I haven't been there since college - so 100 years ago).
