    Brussel Sprouts

We are new to the area and tried Hearth for the first time this past Saturday. My daughter ordered a veggie burger and Fries. Her veggie burger was bland and her fries were very greasy and soggy. Her strawberry margarita was quite delicious though. I had the Brussel sprouts with Hollandaise sauce. The sprouts were delicious...some of the best I have ever had. My only issue was the bland hollandaise sauce. It lacked the acidity and seasoning that I like...I also had the New England clam chowder which was meh...and it was luke warm. Clam chowder is generally made with cream and I am not sure if there was even dairy in it at all. It didn't taste like clam chowder to me and there was not much flavor to it. I also had the burrata caprese and that was quite nice. My husband had the Godfather pizza and that was delicious. The sauce was perfectly seasoned and the meats were delish and reminiscent of a real New York pizza. All in all, the service is good, the ambiance is nice but the food is meh. We would go again to try other things but, my daughter was so disappointed that she doesn't want to go again. Prices are decent for what you get. Not the best place we have been to since moving to Severance in March.

They are known for great pizza but the rest of the menu goes just as hard....so try something out of the ordinary! That said, pizza is outstanding. Their gluten free crust is unrivaled for those living GF. Regular crust is epic too...just the right amount of chew. Nice views of the lake and appealing location near the Windsor Mill building. They also have patio seating that is worth the wait when the weather is even remotely nice. Service is hit or miss. We've had A+ hospitality but occasionally a B-. Never colossally bad...but sometimes a bit less attentive than desired. Still this is one of the very best restaurants in Windsor and worth the drive from other points in NoCo.

For being such a high ceiling, open space it is surprisingly NOT loud, even when full. The patio has stunning views of the lake, too cold for us tonight for it to be opened. The only bummer, was my drink unfortunately had very little flavor and seemed rather watered down. Our food, was delicious!!! The variety of textures and flavors in each dish, kept us eating almost past the full point! My husband did stop and take the rest of his pork home. I had thought, for some reason, it was spätzle and walnuts with braised cabbage. Not to critique a chef, that I am NOT, but walnuts would be a wonderful added crunchy texture! I wanted to lick my plate after my roast chicken was gone. Creamy and cheesy grits, brussel sprouts and crispy bacon accompanying a perfectly roasted half chicken...get this, with only ONE bone! Vanilla bean creme brulee was the perfect ending. Katie our waitress was an absolute delight! We will be back, and bring friends!

We were offered indoor or outdoor seating and we opted for outdoors on this balmy 80-degree evening. Wife N started with a mocktail: Summer Crush. Delicious and we didn't miss the normally included liquors in the spirited version. She ordered a make it yourself burger: just the bun, patty, some ketchup and mayo. Medium. Side of fries. Her way. Burger perfect medium. Fries were crispy, above average. I ordered the Mushroom Avocado burger, also medium. Burger was juicy, flavorful, and the tempura avocados were an interesting twist on the un-fried norm. First couple bites had some crisp but mostly the avocados got soggy halfway through. Not sold on the tempura frying but the sandwich on the whole was great. Got some local draft on the side. Well taken care of, food was great, will return.

It is a fairly noisy place so I feel the upstairs was a little quieter and I was glad not to have been seated in one of several booths near the entrance with so many people standing and waiting on seating. Our server was nice and attentive, and the food came out rather quickly. I had an pleasant DC Oakes IPA and the Bomb Diggity hamburger with sweet potato fries. The burger was very tasty (a fat bomb) and with the fries was a substantial amount of food - I was only able to eat about half of it all. However, that burger had to be the saltiest burger I've ever eaten. Curious, I went to the DC Oakes website to find nutritional information about my meal and there is no nutritional information. A third-party website (Marcos.menu) offered the following on the Bomb Diggity: Calories: 1200; Protein: 50g; Carbs: 55g; Fat: 85g. Nothing about sodium. My wife is on a sodium-restricted diet and she knows not to order anything like this burger. But still, nutritional information would be nice to know. When do you plan on putting this information on your menu for your customers? I will return to sample more of their beer and food selections.

Second time we splurged & ordered 2 of the Colorado Ribeyes. When you order a steak medium rare and you get it well done AND pay $29 it doesn't promote a lot of confidence in the kitchen staff! Had ordered the artichoke spinach dip that came with rock hard pita chips that could break concrete! No problem, we'll eat the celery & carrots that also came with it. NEGATIVE! Carrots were so dried out they were cracking, and the celery was rotted! So much for the appetizer! They offered to remake the steaks, comped the appetizer & offered us free dessert. Round 2...steaks were AGAIN cooked well done! This was a re-do so one would think extra effort would have been made...NOT! It was Saturday evening and by the time we had sat down to eat again it was 9:00. Called them back but they were already closed. Okay...so we'll take them back Sunday...NO CAN DO, closed on Sunday! Doesn't open until 4pm Monday. Husband takes them back for a REFUND this time only to be told "they've done all they can do" REALLY? I don't think you even came close! If you're going to charge people $29 for a steak THEN hire kitchen staff that knows how to cook them as the paying customer requests! There's a HUGE difference between MR & WD and if you can't cook it accordingly then you should not have steak on your menu!! Since you find yourself in the position of "doing all you can do" then you leave me no choice to "do all I can do" and that will be to dispute the charge with my financial institution! For a business that operates in the food industry, hospitality & customer service Monroe's needs a refresher course ASAP! Staff was pleasant but whoever made the decision to not do the right thing and refund the steaks that weren't edible after the second time & the steaks were brought back to you uneaten, then I'll do the honors of exercising my opinion on every social media platform I can. Would NOT recommend this restaurant! If you want a great steak, frequent a good steakhouse!

Instead, I accidentally took her to intermittent fasting with table service. We both ordered bowls. She got the Pineapple Bowl ($21), and I got the Lazy Dog Bowl ($20). When they arrived, we honestly thought maybe the rest of the meal was still coming. Nope. That was the whole production. Each bowl featured what appeared to be half of a chicken breast. Not "about" half. I mean it genuinely looked like one chicken made the ultimate sacrifice so two entrées could exist. Somewhere in the kitchen a chef is holding a ruler saying, "Easy... if anyone gets an extra bite, corporate loses twelve cents." I've had Costco samples with more commitment. The best part was watching my wife try to convince herself she was full because she didn't want to ruin date night. That's when you know you're in trouble. When your spouse starts chewing slower because she's hoping time will create calories. You know how sometimes you get annoyed when the waiter or manager keeps coming by asking how your meal is and if everything is alright? The good news was that Lazy Dog definitely doesn't have this issue: Nobody asked how the food was. Not our server. Not a manager. Not a passing employee. Not even the emotional support dog I assume inspired the restaurant's name. It was almost as if everyone already knew the answer. The only thing that arrived promptly and confidently was the bill. For over $40, I wasn't expecting to leave stuffed, but I was hoping to leave without wondering whether we should split a cheeseburger at the drive-thru on the way home. I've seen airport salads with a stronger sense of abundance. The food wasn't bad. That's almost what makes it worse. It tasted good enough that I wished there had been... more than six bites of it. Lazy Dog, I came hoping to impress my wife. Instead, you gave us a memorable evening, a shared chicken breast, and the strongest argument we've ever had for eating before we go out.
