Stopped again twice this past week at the Heartland diner. Once for lunch and once for breakfast. For lunch, my wife and I both had the special luncheon fried cod basket that came with french fries fries, and coleslaw and two drinks. We really both had a hankering for some fish and this really hit the spot. And... Since it was a luncheon special, it was only $9.95. Service was good, the fish was excellent, the fries were very good, coleslaw was also quite nice. You can see some pictures of the meal that I posted along with this review. This morning we stopped again at the diner for breakfast. I had eggs Benedict, which I can give a solid B+ and my wife had a blueberry muffin. Again, we were both very satisfied with our food and service.

'Twas an overcast Saturday late morning in late April when I noted hunger pangs, fancied breakfast, and decided to visit the Heartland Diner. There were numerous cars parked in the spacious lot, yet I was almost immediately greeted, seated, provided with a menu, and had my beverage order taken (Before I forget, they have Pepsi products) I decided upon the Heartland Feast which consisted of 2 eggs, home fries, toast, sausage patty although they also serve links, and French Toast rather than pancakes. The serving size was epic (see my photo) and I'm glad I had brought a hearty diet to the Heartland Diner. The music was of my era (born the summer of '55), the price reasonable (see breakfast all day menu) and the service quite good. This would not be considered luxury dining, but is is great-tasting food in a great (for parking) location in this most historic and well-known borough. As Arnold would say, " I'll be back"!

We went for breakfast, since we are staying at the Bed part. Look for that review soon. The service was spot on. With a big smile. The food was plentiful. And no complaints. The place is a nice dinner with room for people. The place is clean and looks like it was recently updated. The booths are clean and no holes. Great sign.

Had high hopes for this new diner. Sadly it was a huge disappointment. We had two different steak dinners one ordered rare and the other medium rare. The rare came out well done at first and could hear the waitress having an attitude telling the kitchen we wanted it done rare. The medium rare came out rare if not raw. The "rare" second steak came out completely raw with not even any sear to it. The third dish was the fried fish and it was soggy as if it was microwaved. Overall terrible experience. The waitress was hard to track down and when we did get get to the table it was constant attitude even after explaining many times we know that the food isn't her fault and was very polite and patient with her. Won't be back.

Omg this place is much better than the reviews! It is so clean, very reasonably priced and everyone is so friendly. It's a mix of modern and a little old character. The portions are more than enough, for any appetite. We will be back, for sure.

Very hearty breakfast served by a kind and efficient waitress. The skillet breakfasts would feed two easily. Affordable prices too.

First off, service was dialed in: attentive without hovering, genuinely warm, and paced just right for a relaxed evening. Cocktails ("bespoke") can sometimes feel like an afterthought at places like this, but not here. The La Dulce Vida was excellent--balanced, not overly sweet, and actually worth ordering again (rare). We split the baby beet salad and honestly could've eaten two. Bright, fresh, and one of those dishes that makes you rethink how good something simple can be. Mains: duck à l'orange and steak frites. Both delivered. The duck had that perfect mix of richness and citrus, and the steak was cooked spot-on--though fair warning, it's a serious portion. The frites skip the usual cone presentation, but they're crispy and plentiful, so no real complaints. All in around $200 with tip for two, which felt fair given the quality across the board. This is the kind of place that doesn't try too hard--and gets almost everything right. Would come back.

The mussels and frites were amazing and honestly I could have just had that for dinner and been happy. Drinks were clever and well presented. I had the maple bacon old fashion and the S'mores old fashion. I did like the bacon one a smidge better. Service was ok, had to ask for silverware and our waters went empty. No big deal. Would return.

I can't tell you how many times that medium is what I usually get when requesting medium-rare at restaurants. There's a big difference between the two in terms of internal temperature, center color, and texture. This place knows how to properly cook a medium-rare burger, and for me, that's a sign of quality and sets it apart. The sidewinder fries are fab as are the homemade potato chips and either comes with burgers. The dressing on the coleslaw needs some seasoning, but the slaw itself is fresh and crunchy. The Maryland crab soup is pretty slammin', too. I favor the back dining room, not the bar (in front). These 2 areas have different vibes. The back room feels like the way a burger joint should be. The bar is, well, more bar-ish. One of the servers, Brody, provides exceptional service--a shout out to him. This establishment's name is playful and clearly informs the customer as to what their specialty is: hamburgers. I bought one of their T-shirts, perhaps that says it all.

He said that "You are transported back in time the moment you step into the place." He was not wrong. Though it was late evening, there were still tons of people waiting to get in. We were starving but figured the wait must mean the food was worth it and...it was! We chose first available and were seated at the bar in the corner. It was nice because we didn't wait long to be served and we had I nice view of the entire restaurant. A very rustic place that looked as I would imagine it did in 1863. My friend ordered a Caesar salad, fillet, and a baked potato. The salad came with a freshly baked yeast dinner roll. Fillet was cooked to perfection. I ordered the King's Soup which was French onion soup except with large chunks of tender beef in it. My entree was the Spring House Salad which was mixed greens, apples, walnuts, chipped smoked turkey, with herb dressing and it was divine. The sleeper of the meal was the datenut bread with cream cheese that came with my salad. A dark brown molasses bread with dried fruit and nuts. It was so chocked full of nuts and fruit while the dough was the most moist bread I've ever had. I couldn't eat both pieces after the meal so took it in a to go container. I ate it on the drive home and it was still moist and delicious.
