Stopped again twice this past week at the Heartland diner. Once for lunch and once for breakfast. For lunch, my wife and I both had the special luncheon fried cod basket that came with french fries fries, and coleslaw and two drinks. We really both had a hankering for some fish and this really hit the spot. And... Since it was a luncheon special, it was only $9.95. Service was good, the fish was excellent, the fries were very good, coleslaw was also quite nice. You can see some pictures of the meal that I posted along with this review. This morning we stopped again at the diner for breakfast. I had eggs Benedict, which I can give a solid B+ and my wife had a blueberry muffin. Again, we were both very satisfied with our food and service.

'Twas an overcast Saturday late morning in late April when I noted hunger pangs, fancied breakfast, and decided to visit the Heartland Diner. There were numerous cars parked in the spacious lot, yet I was almost immediately greeted, seated, provided with a menu, and had my beverage order taken (Before I forget, they have Pepsi products) I decided upon the Heartland Feast which consisted of 2 eggs, home fries, toast, sausage patty although they also serve links, and French Toast rather than pancakes. The serving size was epic (see my photo) and I'm glad I had brought a hearty diet to the Heartland Diner. The music was of my era (born the summer of '55), the price reasonable (see breakfast all day menu) and the service quite good. This would not be considered luxury dining, but is is great-tasting food in a great (for parking) location in this most historic and well-known borough. As Arnold would say, " I'll be back"!

We went for breakfast, since we are staying at the Bed part. Look for that review soon. The service was spot on. With a big smile. The food was plentiful. And no complaints. The place is a nice dinner with room for people. The place is clean and looks like it was recently updated. The booths are clean and no holes. Great sign.

Had high hopes for this new diner. Sadly it was a huge disappointment. We had two different steak dinners one ordered rare and the other medium rare. The rare came out well done at first and could hear the waitress having an attitude telling the kitchen we wanted it done rare. The medium rare came out rare if not raw. The "rare" second steak came out completely raw with not even any sear to it. The third dish was the fried fish and it was soggy as if it was microwaved. Overall terrible experience. The waitress was hard to track down and when we did get get to the table it was constant attitude even after explaining many times we know that the food isn't her fault and was very polite and patient with her. Won't be back.

Omg this place is much better than the reviews! It is so clean, very reasonably priced and everyone is so friendly. It's a mix of modern and a little old character. The portions are more than enough, for any appetite. We will be back, for sure.

We'd spent an entire day touring the battlefield, it's a Saturday, and the town is full of tourists. No surprise we had a thirty minute wait for a table. But once inside and seated, it was clear to us that the B & G was no ordinary bar & grill. The burgers are themed for generals, both Federal and Confederate, who took part in the battle. Each burger is characterized by the general it's named for. The General Buford, for example, is served with bleu cheese crumbles and horseradish (he's a cavalry officer, get it?) and the Robert E. Lee features a slab of Virginia ham. I ordered the General George Meade. Meade was a Pennsylvanian, so naturally this burger comes with a pile of Philly cheesesteak. A carnivore's delight, to be sure. No complaints here. And if I'm ever back this way, I'm curious to try the General Longstreet: it's served with carmelized onions and peanut butter. That's gotta be good.

Lots of different wing choices too. Very little choices for entrées. More like an afterthought. Our waitress, bless her heart looked overwhelmed. I asked for a specific type of beer. "Oh im a girl, I dont know beers" say what? Then hands me a hand written list of beers to choose from. Also she totally forgot to put in one of the orders, for a table of 7. Yea, how do you miss a whole meal??? I asked for a medium burger, got medium rare. Along with cold fries. Who eats rare burgers??? The burger was delicious, but too rare for me (got the blue cheese one, named after some general) Overall I wouldn't recommend this place unless all you want is burgers and wings. Cause thats all they have. Oh and expect to wait in line with everyone else for a table. The place is smaller than it looks.

For nearly 11 years we've resided in delightful Gettysburg and have been enjoying Li's for most of that time ever since it was converted from a karate studio to a Chinese restaurant, although the majority has been take out over the last 6-7 years. Tonight i was hungry after a 4 hour drive home and decided upon this reliable dining establishment. I was immediately greeted and seated by a young and affable woman named "Abby" who spoke little English (and I speak zero mandarin!) I arrived at 4pm on a Monday which was the dinner buffet (see photo). There was only one other couple when I was immediately seated, however within 15 minutes there were about a dozen people and a seemingly consistent take-out business. I filled my plate and after enjoying that chose about 8 assorted sushi bites. My beverage was hot tea which was brought to my table within a minute of my arrival. Everything was fresh and tasty. My appetite mostly assuaged, I went back up for some dessert pickings (see photo) I also enjoyed a cup of wonton soup, freshly prepared. (pic attached). The bill for me came to $20.09 plus a tip which I happily included because my pleasant server was so accommodating, smiled a lot, hustled, and evidently tried her best. I brought my own hand sanitizer and really think that they should be available since people touch all sort of nasty things and then touch the utensils at the buffet bar. If a tourist to our historic and charming town, check it out rather than visiting a national burger franchise. If a local as am I, order from here and support a local business, whether dining in or take out you walnt be disappointed. Oh, as if 4:30 pm as I'm wrapping up my review, there are about 18-20 people here, still with loads of seating available!

We came in about an hour before closing, and our server Aedan was absolutely wonderful. She was energetic, sweet and attentive, and never made us feel rushed. Easily some of the best service we've had in a long time. We started with the Supreme Nachos, and these are definitely meant to SHARE! They were HUGE and absolutely loaded. The housemade chips were incredibly crispy, and I loved the addition of banana peppers. They added a tangy bite and different kind of heat alongside the jalapeños. Some of the best nachos we've had outside of a Mexican restaurant, and our table of four still only finished about half! My mother-in-law got the Reuben with onion rings and said it was the BEST Reuben she's ever had. That says a lot because it's one of her usual orders when eating out. She especially loved how flavorful and tender the corned beef was. My husband got the Tuesday special of 3 steak tacos for $10. The steak was tender and tasted like quality cuts of beef. His only criticism was that it could use more seasoning and that a housemade spicy ranch or signature sauce could really take the tacos to the next level. I got the fish and chips, and the haddock was MASSIVE! The thin, crispy batter stayed perfectly attached, and the fish was hot, flaky and tender. The very thin tail end was slightly dry, but it was such a small portion that it didn't take away from the meal. The biggest surprise was their housemade tartar sauce. Creamy, tangy and slightly sweet from the relish. Hands down my favorite tartar sauce I've had! The seasoned battered waffle fries were also delicious, and they give you a TON. The coleslaw wasn't personally my preferred style since I like a finely minced, sweeter and juicier slaw, while theirs was longer shredded and drier, but that's completely personal preference. Portions here are HUGE, so several meals could easily be shared or give you plenty of leftovers. We also loved the cozy neighborhood pub atmosphere with exposed brick, dark wood, baseball and Eddie Plank memorabilia, and moodier lighting. Between the food, atmosphere, huge portions and especially Aedan's wonderful service, Gettysburg Eddie's has officially earned a spot in our Gettysburg rotation. We can't wait to come back!

We were there on a busy Saturday; they were clearly slammed and probably understaffed, and it took a bit over 20 minutes after ordering to get our food. Other than the wait for the kitchen, the service at the table was very good. It felt a bit pricey at about $62 for two with tip. Cheesesteaks were good but on the small side for $17 and $19 (the latter on a gluten‑free bun), and a little light on the Cheese Whiz. That, plus a cider and a Coke, left the overall experience somewhat underwhelming.

First, half the tables were empty and there was still like a half hour wait. It just seemed not staffed enough, but once you're here (they don't take reservations) there's not a lot of places nearby to change your mind to. There is a small merch shop to browse as you wait. The tables are nicely spaced out. The Bavarian pretzels were great, but they only come with mustard and cheese is an upcharge, which I've never seen as a pretz connoisseur. It was an interesting thicker cream cheese-ish dip which required spreading with the knife. The website lists a "weekly steak special" but none was to be found when we went. So we got the gyro which was decent and the Philly cheesesteak which was extremely salty to the point of being almost inevitable. The homemade chips (the only non upcharge size) were thick and crunchy. Both sandwiches were around $20 which felt overpriced for the quality. Other sides were available for an upcharge, which seemed not worth it on the existing bill. The service was good, the bathrooms were nice, and there was plenty of parking. The food was just disappointing. If you're more of a drinker, you may be able to overlook that.
