Visited this diner for a soccer tournament in town. I saw it had a fairly high rating, so we decided to check it out! It was delicious and worth the visit! We arrived at 9am on Sunday which was good timing as it was busy, but their customer service and timing were impeccable. I ordered the Gateway breakfast as did my husband, and as soon as we ordered it, it was prepared for us in less than 10 minutes. The food was delicious but the home fries needed just a bit more cooking as did the onions on top. Other than that, you got your money's worth and walked out with a full belly. For two gateway breakfast meals, OJ, and coffee, we paid less than $35 dollars for the meal. Super clean and cute, great diner spot to visit if in town! Quality: 5/5 Customer service: 5/5 Value for cost: 5/5

Tried this diner for the first time today for lunch. My wife had a Reuben Panini, which was delicious and huge. She commented that the corned beef was tender so it didn't get pulled out of the roll when you were eating it. I had a salad with blue cheese dressing and the hamburger steak with brown gravy and onions from the senior menu along with some onion rings, which were an additional $1.99 charge. I ordered the hamburger steak, medium rare, and it did not come that way. It came medium/well, but it was so tasty that I didn't mind. My blue cheese salad was excellent also. Our server, Noah was very attentive and the service was excellent. The restaurant has an incredibly varied menu and everything on the menu is served all day long. The restaurant is clean and neat as are the restrooms. There are two display cases with a delicious display of desserts as you enter the diner. Lunch with soft drinks for two was $29 plus a 20% tip that we left. We definitely will be dining here again.

Having eaten at the Gateway Family Diner a couple of times, my experiences have always been very nice. I come to Gettysburg once a year for a big fundraising gala and it is the next morning that a whole group of us go for brunch here. The service is quick and efficient at getting he us seated with menus and coffee. They are good at informing us of any specials. And the food generally comes out for everyone at the same time. The food is plentiful, hardy and very tasty -so my husband and I typically don't eat again until dinner.

So, our 3rd time here and we still can't decide if we like it or not but ill explain. Place is normally clean, wasn't today, its very spacious, we'll lit and the menu has all your favorites. The first 2 visits were for breakfast which were mediocre. Eggs are cooked to death potatoes are ok, toast was cold, moving on, today I ordered a "Texas Hot" and a Rueben. A Texas Hot is supposed to be Hot Dog that originated in North Western New York which comes with raw onion, mustard and a Chilli sauce, this one doesn't come close, its just a Chili Dog, it has the right ingredients however the sauce is a very sweet Chilli and the bun was hard as a rock. Hard pass! The Rueben was good, all the right amount of ingredients but the bread was soggy. Being a retired resteraunt owner, there is a trick to perfect toasted rye bread. The fries were very good, nice crunch. Back to cleanliness, the table was dirty, floor was filthy and there were Gnats buzzing around our table. In the end, we will come back again, maybe we got them on Another bad day.

What quick service! Our very friendly and helpful waitress had our four orders back to us before one could use the restroom. And what a large selection, from bar food to a sit down dinner, the menu while vast did not offer much in the way of a kids menu. However, breakfast is served all day. The food was really good, the service was excellent, and the cakes and pies...oh my what a delight! So many to choose from and then you can take a huge (and I mean the size of your head!) strudels home to feed your entire family for breakfast. Definitely kid friendly (they can find something on the adult menu, it's ok), clean, and very welcoming. Finally, price. I paid about $75 for a family of four (3 adults and a child). That is about what I paid for McDonald in the way down here and $25 less than the hotel restaurant for more and better food (plus deserts). I would recommend Gateway Family Diner for anyone wanting good, right priced, quality food, in a family friendly setting.

A burger in one place is much the same as a burger in any other? Ha!…read more The Blue & Gray Bar & Grill, right in the center of historic Gettysburg, goes one better. We'd spent an entire day touring the battlefield, it's a Saturday, and the town is full of tourists. No surprise we had a thirty minute wait for a table. But once inside and seated, it was clear to us that the B & G was no ordinary bar & grill. The burgers are themed for generals, both Federal and Confederate, who took part in the battle. Each burger is characterized by the general it's named for. The General Buford, for example, is served with bleu cheese crumbles and horseradish (he's a cavalry officer, get it?) and the Robert E. Lee features a slab of Virginia ham. I ordered the General George Meade. Meade was a Pennsylvanian, so naturally this burger comes with a pile of Philly cheesesteak. A carnivore's delight, to be sure. No complaints here. And if I'm ever back this way, I'm curious to try the General Longstreet: it's served with carmelized onions and peanut butter. That's gotta be good.

Lots of different wing choices too. Very little choices for entrées. More like an afterthought. Our waitress, bless her heart looked overwhelmed. I asked for a specific type of beer. "Oh im a girl, I dont know beers" say what? Then hands me a hand written list of beers to choose from. Also she totally forgot to put in one of the orders, for a table of 7. Yea, how do you miss a whole meal??? I asked for a medium burger, got medium rare. Along with cold fries. Who eats rare burgers??? The burger was delicious, but too rare for me (got the blue cheese one, named after some general) Overall I wouldn't recommend this place unless all you want is burgers and wings. Cause thats all they have. Oh and expect to wait in line with everyone else for a table. The place is smaller than it looks.

We all shared a fried pickle app. Fried pickles were standard with a house made dill type dip. Dip was good but portion could be a bit larger. Poutine was ok. I'm not a fan of cornstarch dusted fries-so there's that. The short rib was tender and plentiful. Oddly, though the short rib and the gravy didn't have a very beefy flavor. So the poutine was sadly underwhelming in my point of view. The portion is large enough to definitely share. My daughter's chicken thigh sandwich was good. She thought it was flavorful the sauce on. It was nothing to write home about. The house made chips were OK. My mom's cheeseburger looks really good. It was cooked just as she ordered. She said it was very tasty. It came with like a barbecue sauce on it, but she said overall was very good. They have a rather large drink menu with products from their distillery. The prices were not crazy. That skillet of poutine was $16. Total bill for three of us with fountain sodas an iced tea, our bill was $82. They have a bar it is somewhat kid friendly so give it a try.

We came in about an hour before closing, and our server Aedan was absolutely wonderful. She was energetic, sweet and attentive, and never made us feel rushed. Easily some of the best service we've had in a long time. We started with the Supreme Nachos, and these are definitely meant to SHARE! They were HUGE and absolutely loaded. The housemade chips were incredibly crispy, and I loved the addition of banana peppers. They added a tangy bite and different kind of heat alongside the jalapeños. Some of the best nachos we've had outside of a Mexican restaurant, and our table of four still only finished about half! My mother-in-law got the Reuben with onion rings and said it was the BEST Reuben she's ever had. That says a lot because it's one of her usual orders when eating out. She especially loved how flavorful and tender the corned beef was. My husband got the Tuesday special of 3 steak tacos for $10. The steak was tender and tasted like quality cuts of beef. His only criticism was that it could use more seasoning and that a housemade spicy ranch or signature sauce could really take the tacos to the next level. I got the fish and chips, and the haddock was MASSIVE! The thin, crispy batter stayed perfectly attached, and the fish was hot, flaky and tender. The very thin tail end was slightly dry, but it was such a small portion that it didn't take away from the meal. The biggest surprise was their housemade tartar sauce. Creamy, tangy and slightly sweet from the relish. Hands down my favorite tartar sauce I've had! The seasoned battered waffle fries were also delicious, and they give you a TON. The coleslaw wasn't personally my preferred style since I like a finely minced, sweeter and juicier slaw, while theirs was longer shredded and drier, but that's completely personal preference. Portions here are HUGE, so several meals could easily be shared or give you plenty of leftovers. We also loved the cozy neighborhood pub atmosphere with exposed brick, dark wood, baseball and Eddie Plank memorabilia, and moodier lighting. Between the food, atmosphere, huge portions and especially Aedan's wonderful service, Gettysburg Eddie's has officially earned a spot in our Gettysburg rotation. We can't wait to come back!

We were there on a busy Saturday; they were clearly slammed and probably understaffed, and it took a bit over 20 minutes after ordering to get our food. Other than the wait for the kitchen, the service at the table was very good. It felt a bit pricey at about $62 for two with tip. Cheesesteaks were good but on the small side for $17 and $19 (the latter on a gluten‑free bun), and a little light on the Cheese Whiz. That, plus a cider and a Coke, left the overall experience somewhat underwhelming.

I can't tell you how many times that medium is what I usually get when requesting medium-rare at restaurants. There's a big difference between the two in terms of internal temperature, center color, and texture. This place knows how to properly cook a medium-rare burger, and for me, that's a sign of quality and sets it apart. The sidewinder fries are fab as are the homemade potato chips and either comes with burgers. The dressing on the coleslaw needs some seasoning, but the slaw itself is fresh and crunchy. The Maryland crab soup is pretty slammin', too. I favor the back dining room, not the bar (in front). These 2 areas have different vibes. The back room feels like the way a burger joint should be. The bar is, well, more bar-ish. One of the servers, Brody, provides exceptional service--a shout out to him.
