Heat Bistro is a new restaurant in Rancho Penasquitos. It is family owned and run. The owner actually came up to our table! They have a new menu with reduced prices. It is very extensive. They will be serving dinner starting next week. As of this review they were only open for breakfast, brunch & lunch. The decor is beautifully designed. But the most important feature is their food. Very big portions and excellent choices. I highly recommend dining at Heat Bistro as it's a great addition to our community. I have eaten at Heat Bistro five times. The staff are so welcoming and have the best customer service. The owners have come out and introduced themselves as well. People have to realize that they are still in their soft opening phase after a several years delay for permits, etc. My friends and family have tried many items on the menu for breakfast and lunch always with the classic pot of herbal tea. None of us have ever been disappointed and we can't wait for the grand opening and dinner menu in the near future. Yes, the wait may be lengthy on the weekends, but it is worth the wait. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars! I'm usually not someone who likes trying new breakfast spots because I'm a very picky eater with sensitive taste buds. My sister-in-law, on the other hand, loves trying new places, so she convinced me to give this one a chance. When we first arrived, I was a little nervous because I'm always cautious about how food is prepared at new restaurants. But I have to say, I was genuinely impressed! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent customer service. The restaurant wasn't too busy, which made for a relaxed atmosphere. We went on a weekday for brunch, and it was pretty empty. We ordered the iced Dubai chocolate pistachio drink, and it was delicious. Even though it was $7.50, I felt like it was worth it for the size and uniqueness of the drink. For entrees, we ordered: -Stuffed French toast ($21): it had 3 pieces of brioche, strawberries, and bananas with a side of mascarpone cream and syrup. This was pretty tasty, and the presentation was quite striking with the red platter. -House omelette ($17) which came with ham, bacon, sausage, Swiss cheese, bell peppers, mushrooms, and caramelized onions. There was a choice of hash browns or herb roasted potatoes, and we chose to get hash browns. The hash browns came out diner style, and had a crispy top. Unfortunately, the omelette seemed slightly undercooked inside, and a bit more time would have helped the ingredients cook through more evenly. Our waiter, Evan, was great and we enjoyed talking with him. Overall, this is a solid brunch spot, though the omelette could use a bit more consistency in its preparation. read more

My friends and I met for breakfast before going to the movies. It's relatively new so not many people know about it. I believe it opened last May. Quiet place and has these unique wooden lamps mounted on the ceiling. I ordered their signature omelette with hash browns and coffee. It was tasty! The internal ingredients were warm and served quickly. I enjoyed the combination of meats, vegetables and cheese. Plenty of tables and chairs. Probably good for groups. My parents and I came here on a Tuesday morning since I wanted to try a new breakfast place, and we were seated right away by the male co-owner. This place has beautiful decor and is very comfortable. The male co-owner took our drink orders after seating us. My parents asked for coffee and I ordered the lavender tea. My dad's coffee was filled only halfway and my mom's coffee was lukewarm. Not too big of an issue since our server, Bianca, filled it up from a fresh pot. We ordered the house omelette and steak omelette for our breakfast entrees and were happy with our choices. The food took about 15 minutes to come out but it felt shorter since Bianca and co-owner, Sophia, came out to chat with us. I would recommend this place and would go back. read more

Just left Heat Bistro and thought about them my whole way home, which means something memorable and impressive happened, I know that opening and running a business is no small feat, and Heat Bistro has only been open for a little over seven weeks now. We came in this morning with our GTB brunch community, and it is rare that a place leaves me this much in my feels. But between the heart behind the business, the kindness of the team, the food, and the hospitality, this really was such a fantastic experience. Heat Bistro is a small, family-owned business that has clearly put so much care, courage, and intention into creating something wonderful. And especially in an area that does not have a ton of locally owned spots like this, it felt like such a gift to get to experience it. The team was incredibly kind, generous, and attentive with their hospitality. Truly, the service was 20/10. Hosting a larger group is not always easy, especially during brunch hours, but they handled everything with so much grace and care. The service felt personal, not rushed, and you could tell the whole team genuinely wanted everyone to have a great experience. The food was also super delicious. They have a wide array on the menu, which can sometimes make me a little nervous, but they executed everything beautifully. Everything we tried was well presented, full of flavor, and clearly made with intention. Personally, I got the shrimp eggs Benedict, and it is honestly now on a very short list of the most memorable Benedicts I've had in San Diego. It had a yuzu hollandaise that was light, bright, and refreshing, and it was topped with fresh dill, which was such a simple but standout detail. It really showed the thoughtfulness behind what they are creating. I also got to try the apricot croissant hot out of the oven, and it was completely divine. Truly one of those little "okay, wait, this is special" moments. It felt like the kind of place you could come for a casual brunch with friends, a cute date, breakfast before heading out to the Escondido wineries, lunch on your way back, dinner afterwards, or honestly just somewhere along the 15 when you want something that is not a chain conglomerate. I also really appreciated getting to hear a little bit of the owners' story. There is so much effort that goes into opening and running a restaurant, and it is clear Heat Bistro is putting a lot of care into creating something special for the community. I'm so grateful we got to visit, hear their story, taste their food, and enjoy such a lovely morning there. Truly such a hidden gem, and I am excited to see them continue to grow. I noticed this was a new place. The location is convenient and right off the freeway. Upon entering it's a very calm environment. Greeting was very friendly (I'm thinking he was part owner or husband of owner? Very nice gentleman.) My husband and I were seated easily. Good selection for brunch menu. Then I got a savory crepe (Turkey Pesto); moist, delicious & shredded turkey pieces - this really stood out to me, sometimes turkey can be dry but this was great and I was really impressed! My Husband got the Smoked Salmon Tartine and he loved it. (It came with some sort of avocado/ wasabi/ dill spread) - yes, delish. Over all, Friendly service. This was our first visit here and we left disappointed. We were seated as soon as we came in but that was the end of fast service. I really hope their service improves and their staff is trained better. Our waitress took my initial order and I let her know another member of our party was still deciding. She never came back after that. The food wait was about 30 minutes, but it seemed to be that long for everyone around us too. I wish there had at least been a "I'm so sorry, we're a little backed up right now." Instead we could all see the waiters and other staff talking or they'd all disappear. We were not checked on until I had to ask for the check. The food was alright, the eggs were a bit cold, but overall alright. Their prices were pretty average but a little on the higher end. I'd like to chalk my experience up to them being busy, but their staff was really underwhelming. Edit: The business owner is replying to reviews here and on Google, claiming any negative review is "fake". This is extremely unprofessional and distasteful as a business owner. Honestly, the menu offers a variety of items from around the world, including the delicious "Le Breakfast Burrito" I had for breakfast. The burrito was quite good. I liked that they put the burrito on the hoot griddle after rolling to firm and crisp it up. The burrito came with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, Mozzarella cheese, and tomatoes. It comes with a side of green salsa or pico de Gallo, but they gave me both. I think they should offer both because it looks very nice on the plate. The ingredients tasted very good. The eggs were well scrambled and seasoned. The bacon was great. I just wish that the hash-browns would have held their crispy texture. The green salsa that came with the burrito was very good. It offered a slight heat and a lot of good flavors. The service was good, but I did not like that they do not take cash. I hope they change the policy. One of the employees had to run across the street to find change for a $50 bill, so I could pay the exact amount in cash, plus the tip. Zero Service. Literally Zero. We drove almost 20 minutes specifically to try this place. My daughter had her heart set on the Ube pancakes and we were genuinely excited. What followed was one of the most frustrating dining experiences we've ever had, and we didn't even get to eat. We were seated immediately, no wait at all. The busboy brought waters quickly and was kind enough to answer my question about making the kids' pancake in Ube. That was the last interaction we had with any staff member. For 20 minutes we sat there, watching more than half the restaurant sit empty while the wait staff stood around talking to each other. Not one person came to our table. We've dealt with bad service plenty of times. But never NO service. Not a single "welcome" or "someone will be right with you." Nothing. On our way out, a man by the door cheerfully said "Thanks for coming!" We told him we had been sitting for 20 minutes without anyone waiting on us. He looked at us with a blank, shocked expression and just let us walk out. No apology, no effort to fix it. Super disappointed. My daughter left without her Ube pancakes and we left hungry. My 2nd visit here, 1st was lunch, 2nd was breakfast. Food was EXCELLENT, abundant & tasty. Beautifully presented. Service was also really attentive without being overbearing. We had a fantastic breakfast! From the moment we walked in, it felt like eating at a family member's house--warm, welcoming, and full of homemade comfort. We just found our new favorite aunt and uncle who happen to make incredible breakfast! We ordered the Brioche French Toast Tower with Bacon, Chilaquiles, and a Kids Breakfast, and every dish was outstanding. The French toast was thick, soft, and perfectly sweet. The chilaquiles were packed with flavor, topped with fresh avocado, perfectly cooked eggs, crema, and queso fresco, and served with delicious black beans and crispy breakfast potatoes. The Kids Breakfast was a huge hit too--the chocolate chip pancakes were fluffy, the scrambled eggs were perfect, and the sausage disappeared in no time. 5 out of 5 stars. This place is leagues above the rest right in sunny San Diego. The steak was cooked to perfection and flavor profile isn't with your standard seasoning, it had a nice Asian spice to it that made me pleasantly surprised and making me want to eat it more. The chicken piccata had such a well balance profile between creaminess and tartness, and the pasta on the side not only made it aesthetically pleasing to look at, but gave a different feel vs your standard chicken piccata. The service was also incredible. I watched the owners thoughtfully talk to every single person in the restaurant and bringing smiles to their faces. The rest of the staff is just world class. Our friends told us this place was having a soft opening, so we decided to try it out after church. For those of us old-time PQ residents who remember this spot as iHop, it's a pleasant surprise to see the spot resurrected so nicely! The interior is open, airy, and well-decorated with a nice French aesthetic. We learned they offer their breakfast/brunch menu all day on Sundays, so I had a prosciutto & oeuf tartine with fries and my wife had a chicken & Gouda omelette. They are still getting everything squared away, so we needed to get clarification on if fries or bread were included with the orders as it stated on the menu, but once we placed our order, multiple servers checked on us to make sure we were ok. The food was great-I loved my sandwich and my wife was happy with her omelette. The owner stopped by our table and apologized for us having to wait for our food as she said two of her cooks called in sick at 6:30am that morning, but we told her we hadn't waited long at all. She offered us two refreshers on the house, so my wife got a mango strawberry one and I got a lychee rose one. Prices were very reasonable and while they still need to dial in their processes, it's their soft opening and that's exactly what soft openings are for. We learned the owner used to live here in PQ and owns 3 other restaurants in Dubai, so nice to see it's a locally-owned place pop up here. She shared they had to navigate having 2 chefs call in sick this morning at 6:30am, so all told, they're doing pretty well in their first week. We got an assortment of breakfast items to try for our first visit. The ambiance and decor is nice and clean and the staff was very nice. The presentation of the food was lovely and the potatoes were great! I was satisfied with my strawberry french toast but we didn't realize the basic french toast would have syrup already on it and my guest wanted it plain. We thought it would be like the pancakes and not have any syrup until we pour it on. We didn't say anything because there's no way to fix it except re-making a fresh batch but it was within a half hour of closing and we didn't want to make a fuss. My guest scraped off the syrup but didn't eat much since she only wanted butter on it without syrup. I would give a higher rating if my guest had been as happy as me. I can't even say how the food is because we left. After waiting over 45 minutes to be seated we took off. The manager was so incredibly rude to everyone he spoke to. We assume the older white guy with the glasses was the manager. The place seems to be extremely understaffed. There were customers that had tried signaling to staff multiple times to checkout. Finally they got up and said they'd been waiting 45 minutes to leave and they still weren't helped right away. I've worked in several cafes and can say that they need more staff, better organization and management. I was looking forward to trying something but after this I don't think we'll try again. The ambiance was light and bright. They had lovely murals on the walls and it was well lit. Looks like they're still getting things set up outdoors as they had new plants and outdoor furniture that wasn't all together. First impressions I would go back...the interior is very well done, they have both full and half boots...4 stars...plenty of parking...4 stars...now for the food...I ordered the Turkey pesto crapes which came with a side of pesto sauce and topped with slices of avocado. They were very tasty, however they were very stingy with the turkey and "cream sauce" which made them a little dry...3 stars. The coffee per wifey was medium quality...3 stars and the woman's restroom ran out of toilet seat covers...2 stars. I understand it's a holiday weekend, but the bare minimum service was not even given. We also arrived when it wasn't even super busy. We waited 20+ minutes to get our order taken and the only reason they took our order was because my husband got up to complain. Who knows how much longer it would've been if we didn't say anything. When our food arrived, they didn't automatically provide utensils. We had to ask for it and I saw this same issue with the other tables around us. The table behind us didn't even get their coffee until they were paying the check and they ended up taking it to go. We also had to get up to ask for to go boxes and for our check because no one came by. So yes it's a holiday weekend but make sure you are properly staffed for the crowds and that your employees are also trained. If you want to try this place be prepared to wait and to get up from your table to get anything that you need. Aloha gang! I was happy to see Heat Bistro finally opened because I've been looking for a new breakfast spot to visit. The decor was well done and the vibe was comfy and casual. We were greeted immediately and presented with menus. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful with questions and recommendations. I knew exactly what I wanted on the menu, Steak and Eggs. I also orde6r their specialty drink, a Dubai Chocolate and Pistachio Cream iced coffee. The owner came to the table to welcome us and encourage us to provide any feedback regarding our meals and drink. She told us that she wanted to make sure everything was to our liking. We ordered two versions of the steak and egg breakfast. One with herb roasted potatoes and the other with hash browns. I'm telling you, both plates were excellent. The steaks were cooked as ordered. (medium rare) and the plate included grilled roma tomatoes and sides of steak seasoning and, olive oil. This was a hearty and savory meal. The Dubai Chocolate and Pistachio Cream iced coffee was a rich and delicious treat. It was a specialty drink that I've never seen on a menu before and well worth a try. The owners daughter was our server and she was so attentive and made us feel special and we were also visited by the chef who asked if we were happy with the meals and that he would make sure we were satisfied. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for brunch. They have so much to offer, a wonderful staff and great food and beverages. If you're in the area, stop by and try it for yourself. Three words: O.M.G! I've been waiting for this place to open for what seems to be two years now. Formerly an IHOP, I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but WOW was this place worth the wait! The decor inside is completely new, tasteful, and clean. It is clear that this is a family owned and run business because staff went out of their way to check on us and were so personable. At the end of our meal, one of the chefs came out to ask about our meal and ask if there is anything the can improve upon- loved the personal touch! As for the food, I had the Banana Bourbon pancakes and they were about the best I've ever had. I don't even like bananas all that much, but these were prepared perfect! My girlfriend had the avocado tartine with a poached egg and left satisfied. They give you more bread with the steak and eggs, and we loved sopping up the yolk with the soft, toasty crunchy bread. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare the way we asked, seasoned lightly with a side of rosemary infused olive oil and salt & pepper. The banana pancakes were amazing- there are bananas in the batter and bananas on top, with a bourbon infused syrup and almonds for a nice crunch. So fluffy and delicious. I understand that restaurants can get busy, especially on holidays or weekends, but the experience here was still very disappointing. The service felt disorganized, and basic things like taking orders, bringing food, providing utensils, and checking on the table took much longer than they should have. It felt like we had to constantly ask for things instead of being properly served. What made the experience worse was how the restaurant seemed to handle customer complaints. Instead of responding professionally, the owner's replies to negative reviews came across as rude, dismissive, and insulting toward customers. A long wait or busy day is understandable, but being blamed or talked down to for bringing up valid concerns is not. Overall, the food was not enough to make up for the poor service and unprofessional attitude. I would not feel comfortable coming back or recommending this restaurant. read more

I would say 3.5. I'm hoping their service improves over time. They seem like they need more help. The food was fine. Nothing to rave about. Fun menu choices. I'm glad I tried it. The staff is nice and helpful. They're just understaffed for the amount of people. I did really like the breakfast potatoes. The pancakes are somewhat dry. Not moist enough. My cousin and I split our meals. The bacon was nicely done. read more
