First timer here. Came in since I was in the area after work. I was hungry and I wanted something fresh, clean eats and affordable. I wanted to check out bushfire since I've seen many ads about it in the past couple of months. BK has a good variety on their menu. Burgers, sandwiches, bowls and to plates and even snack items. I even saw they have a happy hour menu. I'm extremely happy that they have a good amount of gluten-free menu options!!! I ordered the Seabass special. It was a good portion size and it was a little bit on the higher end price of the menu, but it was great. The food came out hot and extremely flavorful. They have regular drinks, kombucha, even beer. Service was friendly and professional. All their locations are in the North County only. Carlsbad (LCC area) as well as Del Mar and now here in Rancho Bernardo. I rated this place for out of five stars because to be quite honest the AC was way too cold in there during the evening. Felt like it was 65°. read more

We went here for lunch on a weekday with friends. Parking is plentiful, but it was also very busy. You order at the counter and they give you a number and bring it to your table. I ordered the chicken curry Bowl with Jasmine rice and the roasted cauliflower, and a beef empanada. They gave me the Empanada right away, and it was nice when you want. I have to say I did really enjoy this, and the bread was nice and Flaky on the outside. The ground beef was plentiful and flavorful as well. As for the chicken curry Bowl I really was hoping to enjoy this more. It was fine, but nothing that really stood out. Maybe I should have gotten with the mixed vegetables instead of the cauliflower, but it just tasted like it was missing something. The roasted cauliflower was good, but the rice was just very mushy. There were parts of it on top that were fine but once I got into the bowl, it was like a gelatinous blob of rice. This kind of turned me off from it. Loved our experience here: the menu was extensive and the price point was very reasonable. It was very busy, but efficient for quick dining. The space is very clean with a good amount of seating. I really enjoyed the miso salmon special. It was prepared medium rare as recommended and the portions were perfectly sized. My friend built her own bowl and absolutely devoured her chicken and brussel sprouts. The cookies... yum! $3.50 a cookie; but worth it! I'm so glad to have discovered this place. I currently have a few dietary restrictions that started this year, and I felt very comfortable dining here knowing many dishes are soy and dairy-free. They have an extensive allergen guide that the staff were happy to share with me. I really enjoyed the Nashville chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. It had the perfect level of heat. The staff were helpful and attentive. There was also ample seating for our larger group. The prices were pretty reasonable as well, for the quality of the food. My friends wanted to meet my puppy, so we decided on this pet friendly restaurant. They have a large covered outdoor patio with lots of tables, perfect for our party of 4. I ordered the free range chicken bowl with garlic mashed potatoes and assorted roasted veggies. I enjoyed my bowl even though the veggies were more like steamed than roasted, which was fine by me. It was a tasty dish that was well seasoned and not salty. My friends got the miso salmon crunch bowl and curry chicken bowl. There were problems with both of these dishes. The salmon was too dry and the roasted broccoli were over roasted, too charred. The Jasmine rice in both bowls were all overly mushy. Whoever cooked the rice had added too much water. The consistency was more like rice pudding! Sadly, they didn't particularly enjoy their food. Properly cooked rice would've made a difference. We tried the Thai chicken curry bowl with roasted vegetables, the American burger, kids noodles with a side of tri-tip, and tri-tip plate. There are craft fountain drinks available along with flavored lemonades. We also ordered their empanada trio, discounted during happy hour (available from 2-5pm), which came with chicken, beef, and vegetable empanadas. It was nice to feel the breeze on the outside patio during dinner, although we did have to tune out the view of the oncoming traffic in the plaza. Not a big deal though. Lots of parking. I came back again after soft opening. This time I came with my parents to pick up takeout. We ordered a Caesar salad with tri-tip, a bbq chicken plate with broccoli and vegetables, and tri-tip plate with squash and broccoli. The salad without protein is about $18. Another $5 was added for the tri-tip. For $5, I expected more than 3 thin slices of meat. It was overcooked as well, very different from my previous experience. Oh, and they forgot something this time again. They forgot my salad dressing. The chicken in the plate was super tough. My dad didn't end up eating it because it was so dry even with all the sauces. This was my parents' first experience with Bushfire and they've already told me they don't want to go back. It's a shame because I know the food can be great. I got a beef empanadaba and it was very dry. None of the available tables had been bussed, staff were slow to take our order, and while our food came out relatively quickly we overhead them telling other customers it would be a half hour delay due to the kitchen. To their credit there's a surprisingly large amount of seating both inside and outside. The location in the shopping center makes for convenient parking. But $15 for a sandwich barely larger than sliders that wasn't even good felt like a stretch. read more

The food is good but a bit pricey compared to others within the strip mall but still a great option when you're hungry. Clean dining area and friendly staff. Third visit to Bushfire Kitchen in Rancho Bernardo! This time I ordered from their "Happy Hour Shareables" menu... First off, their draft House IPA was surprisingly good! And 50% off for HH was an outstanding value. It was a nice pour in a real pint glass. I ordered the "Chicken Quesadilla" and it came out nicely presented. The menu describes it as grilled flour tortillas filled with cage-free chicken, pickled red onion, housemade jalapeno aioli and a blend of melted cheddar and jack cheeses, for $8.95. The first thing I noticed was that every seam was open and exposed making it difficult to pick up and eat neatly. The scant amount of shredded cheese was barely melted. The sauce was flavorful and abundant but an odd juxtaposition to an otherwise traditional quesadilla. Overall, I've had better quesadillas from Taco Bell. The only thing that set this one apart were the pickled red onions. I probably would not order this again. read more

Came here for dinner with my wife around 6:30-7pm on a Weds and the place was packed! Many tables to sit at inside and a few on the outside. I ordered the Tokyo Glazed Chicken Sandwich with parm fries ($18+tax). My wife got some steak sandwich and 3 cookies (~$25). So total was about $45-50. My wife's steak sandwich was very good. Well cooked with good flavor. The cookies were pretty good too. However, my chicken sandwich was a little bit undercooked. I let a staff know and they gladly made me another sandwich. The manager, Taylor, came out to apologize and offered us some empanadas and coupons. She brought out a ground beef empanada and a shredded chicken empanada. Both were good, I liked the beef one better. Wife had it the other day and said it was good. We came on Friday night. I got the tri-tip plate, and the steak was really tough, as if it had sat for a long time in the heating thing. It also didn't come out hot, which was a little odd. Everything, including the vegetables, was lukewarm at best, but the meat had definitely sat for a long time. Theyre still figuring out how to do some of it. The food was reasonable, and I would try it again, but I'm pretty surprised they would send out meat like that. If anyone has been to the Bushfire Kitchen in Del Mar, they just opened a new location in Rancho Bernardo! So much of their menu is GF! Most importantly, all of their fried food is GF, so their fryer is GF! My husband and eldest daughter both have celiac and they did not get glutened at either location. I got the salmon bowl which has a house made GF teriyaki sauce, my husband got the American burger and said it's one of the better GF buns he's had, and my kids had the crispy chicken strips and french fries. I love that it was so effortless, the staff are knowledgeable, and the menu is diverse. They also have a GF cookie which we didn't get this time but will be back often! read more

Like others have mentioned, very densely packed seating indoors and some seating outside in covered patio. The staff was friendly and helpful answering questions on the menu. I ordered a tri tip bowl with a delicious chimichurri sauce which comes with rice or roasted vegetables, a salmon bowl (well seasoned) with roasted butternut squash and chicken bowl (a bit dry) with roasted butternut squash and some beef empanadas (which were delicious). I also ordered a side of roasted Brussel sprouts. Prices are a bit on the higher side for the portions but food was tasty. Ambiance was family friendly. My wife mentioned that Bushfire Kitchen was finally opening today, so naturally we asked ourselves... what's the best thing to do? Go get dinner, of course. This was our first time trying Bushfire Kitchen and we were pretty excited to check it out. We decided to do takeout since we figured opening day was going to be busy. We browsed the menu online first, picked what we wanted, then headed over to the restaurant. As soon as we got there, there were already quite a few people standing around. At first we thought it was the dine-in crowd, but most were actually waiting on takeout orders. Definitely a sign people were eager to try the place. Inside From a quick count, there are around 10 to 12 tables in the main dining area, plus a few more near the registers. Even with the crowd, the space didn't feel too cramped. There's also outdoor seating available if you prefer eating outside. Food Since this was our first visit, we kept it simple and both ordered the Surf & Turf plate. My wife chose brown rice and Brussels sprouts for her sides, while I went with garlic mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts were easily my favorite part of the meal. Packed with flavor, especially that rich garlicky kick. The salmon was decent, though nothing that really stood out to me personally. The tri-tip, however, was solid and definitely the stronger half of the combo. We also tried the empanadas and honestly... those are an easy reorder for next time. Opening day was definitely a little hectic. I overheard a few customers mention missing items in their orders here and there, but considering they had just opened, it's understandable that the crew was still adjusting to the volume. What stood out to me though was seeing staff actively checking on customers and trying to make sure people were taken care of, which I appreciated. I actually gave this place three attempts. Each time I can hear the food has been not cooked great. The first time was the burger and under cooked. Second time I got the Nashville chicken sandwich and it came out cold. I had it sent back and still wasn't 100% the right temperature. And the gluten free chocolate chip cookie was inedible. The texture is a weird crunch almost like sand and the aftertaste was chemical... and small for $3.50. Stopped by a very busy Bushfire today. Looks like a lot of influencers and such were invited to check out this restaurant so the restaurant was quite busy but I ended up finding an empty table. I chose the piri piri chicken plate for my meal with a side of sweet potato fries and veggies. The food arrived in a couple of minutes. The grilled chicken breast was pre sliced with some piri piri sauce drizzled over it. I found the chicken to be cooked well, surprisingly moist and flavorful. The fries and veggies were also tasty. There are a number of tables in the restaurant so it shouldn't be hard to find a seat. It's also located in a large strip mall with plenty of parking, so that's not an issue either. Will be trying some of their other offerings the next time, including the seafood items. read more
