Suggested this place by a coworker and happy I stopped in. I was sat in the outdoor patio. Surprisingly inviting with fireplaces, lights and enclosed. Staff is friendly, attentive and patient. Ordered a glass of wine and champagne with the shrimp pasta. Enjoyed the complimentary bread and oil and the pasta was made fresh. Food came out quickly, flavorful and each bite drew me back in for more. I truly enjoyed this dining experience. The cozy ambience, delicious food and well poured wine made for a relaxing evening.

It should be obvious by all the reviews that this place does not disappoint. With plenty of parking, outdoor dining as well as a special event patio, Yanni's got you covered. The experience was top notch. The dining room was AC cooled and tables and booths to suit your needs. Friendly young polite staff that took our orders quickly and knew the menu well. There were three of us in our party tonight plus a toddler. We were brought bread and oil and vinegar immediately. Our selections were the pasta carbonara, pesto angel hair, and the lamb canneloni. Each of us had a bite of the others and were happy with our choices. So happy to have had a wonderful first visit to Yanni's. Can't wait to go back

I am fr Maryland and really love Greek food so while visiting our friend here in SanDiego July 13 2026 we enjoyed a really fabulous meal. The 3 of us started with the Saganaki -appetizer which came with fresh bread- the Greek cheese was flavored well and melted. Next we shared the Mediterranean salad -which included lettuce, roasted eggplant and lots of olives. For mains: try the Frutti di mare the sauce was flavorful and perfect-I asked for spicy, and it included shrimp, salmon, mussels, clams, and calamari on pasta. Definitely a do again and lots left over to take home. The second entrée was the lamb kebab which was served with Pita and rice and green beans and fresh vegetables Lamb was very tender and also flavored well. Third entrée was the lamb Cannelloni , kind of like an enchilada, a pasta tube filled with ground lamb, spinach pine nuts and spices topped with cheese and baked. Hugo really took care of us, his service was prompt, efficient, and he even surprised us with a sample of their delicious chocolate dessert! We will be back again soon!

I did realize I haven't reviewed Yanni's before?! I love Yanni's. It's been here for so long and has been consistently very good, very nice service, and nice ambiance. It's just very relaxed and I love that. Everything is delicious it's more homemade food. The last time I went was this past Saturday for lunch. In the patio was just lovely because it's covered and has a fountain. They don't rush you out so it's perfect for a visit and tons of parking! I love that part. Don't have to fight for parking like downtown. Haha. Anyway I started with a nice cool ouzo, shared a caprese salad, then had the RB Club. The RB club was so delicious. I like that they use chicken instead of turkey.

Food was good. It came in a reasonable amount of time. The issue was after the dessert menus were dropped off we were ghosted. I had to ask somebody else to give us the bill.

Yanni's Bar and Grill has a charming atmosphere that feels perfect for a casual date night or a group dinner. The inside is cute, cozy, and has great lighting that really sets the mood. I appreciated the thoughtful touches in the decor which made it feel a little upscale without being stuffy. The heated patio looked inviting too, especially for any chilly San Diego evenings. As for the food--it was a bit of a mixed bag. The pasta I tried reminded me a little too much of a can of Chef Boyardee, though I will say the noodles tasted fresh. The meat on our kebab was glazed a little heavier than I'd prefer, but I could see that being someone else's thing if they like that. The portion sizes were generous, definitely ideal if you're coming hungry. Service was friendly and prompt, and our server gave great recommendations with a smile. The menu has a wide variety, blending Greek, Mediterranean, and Italian dishes--so there's a little something for everyone. All in all, I wouldn't say it blew me away, but it definitely had its charms. I'd come back for the ambiance, maybe skip the pasta next time, and try more of the other options instead.

Pleasantly surprised with our dinner at Yanni's on Saturday night. We used to frequent this restaurant with our office team for lunch, but since we moved to a work-from-home situation, we hadn't been back in 5 years. Our group was looking for a dinner spot in the area and when someone mentioned Yanni's reviews on Yelp, I immediately vouched for it knowing it would be great for a group (offering Italian + Greek fare with great outdoor seating). What surprised me most was the size of the room in the back and the outdoor seating situation with firepit in the back of the restaurant. Our work-lunches were always seated in the outdoor patio at the front of the restaurant. The waitstaff were very friendly and professional. They kept stopping by to refill our waters (even though the water bottles were on the table for us to self-pour). They were very attentive and answered all our questions. I felt like we were at a fine-dining restaurant (e.g. Marine Room in La Jolla), but still with a casual vibe. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Calamari Misto appetizer was a flavorful mix of fried calamari + veggies. I ordered the Linguine Mussels, which was garlicky and briney - the mussels were meaty. Yum! The 5 year old in our group devoured the kid's burger + half of his mom's Linguine Bolognese. :-) We loved the table they had for our party of 8 - it was a big square table (instead of a long one) so it felt cozy and everyone was able to hear each other and be involved in the conversation, instead of sitting at a long table where it's hard to hear each other from one end to the other. Their lunch sandwiches (offered until 4PM) are delicious, too, and their outdoor patio settings allow for the perfect casual yet upscale feel. It was jam packed Saturday night. This neighborhood knows a gem when they find one!

We are outside which was perfect with a baby. It was so cute and we were seated next to a fountain. The staff was beyond nice and accommodating. The pasta was okay, I ordered the seafood one with white sauce but the eggplant chicken parm was really good!

Came here with a group of friends. We were pretty loud laughing over stories we were telling. Service was a little slow in the beginning. Seems like it took awhile to take our order. The place was pretty busy on a Friday night. Food was great. What we got Lamb Skewer with mashed potatoes. Came with bell peppers, onions, carrots, green beans and pita and tzatziki. I loved it. Lamb wasn't over cooked. Tasted great. Was a big portion for me. Pork Chop came with rice and carrots. Bf loved it. Said it tasted good. Mediterranean Sundae which was gelato with some crunch cookie thing on the bottom. Soo yummy. Loved the bread and oil and balsamic vinegar to dip the bread in. We will be back to try other things.

Made reservations to come here for mother's day. It was my gf's mom's birthday as well and they gave her a free chocolate dessert. They even held the cake for us in the fridge while we ate and put in candles for us to take pictures and cut the cake for us too. I was a little bummed that their normal menu wasn't available for mother's day as I was craving linguine carbonara. I opted for the ravioli sauce instead and it was still really delicious! My gf kept stealing bites from my ravioli lol. I was bummed that I had no leftovers for tomorrow. My gf ordered the scallops with mashed potatoes and I had a bite of that also and it was delicious. My gf's brother and his wife ordered the chicken lasagna and the linguine pesto with chicken. We also got the calamari as a starter. There were no leftovers at our table. We were seated outside and the patio area is so cute! It's also dog friendly. Our server was so sweet and offered to take pictures for us, so we're really grateful!

Came in for a happy hour with my girlfriends to celebrate belated birthdays and liked it so much, that decided to take my family there the very next week for dinner. I liked everything about this place: the food, the service, the ambience. It was an excellent experience. The service was impeccable. In fact, my husband and I discussed how relaxed it made us feel and how items were appearing and disappearing from the table, as if they could read our minds! Even my teenage child liked it there. Thanks so much to all your team for the experience, and yes, we will come back!!

I truly enjoyed the overall experience at this restaurant. We were seated in the patio area which was a lovely setting for a summer night. The waitress was very kind and attentive to our table the entire time. There were plentiful menu options that all sounded delicious from pastas, seafood, salads, and skewers. I decided to go with the chicken saltimbocca served with mash potatoes and freshly steamed vegetables. The plates were generous in portions and the prices were very fair. The taste, quality, and presentation of their food was amazing. I was very pleased with the meal and would definitely return here again. Since we were celebrating multiple birthdays that night, they also were very kind to bring us personal chocolate desserts which was a very nice treat. 5 stars for this gem of a restaurant!

I picked up a chocolate bodino to go. It is one of the best desserts I have ever had in my life. It is the dessert you dream about. The perfect crust is topped with the smoothest chocolate mousse and creamy filling with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings. The whipped cream is definitely homemade. Get this dessert if you don't get anything else. Absolutely amazing.

We probably arrived around 8:30 or so. The restaurant was just under half full. We were given a choice of tables and chose a table just a bit closer to the back, as it was a bit chilly to eat outside and the front area didn't give us as much space. We were seated, given water and menus, and were greeted by our server. The menu was vast and took a long time to study. There were several traditional Greek items on the menu, as well as many less traditional items. I enjoy ouzo and wondered if there were any ouzo cocktails. Our server told us about the Cucumber Ouzito, which was a take on a mojito. We each ordered one, as well as the saganaki (flaming Greek cheese) to start. Our drinks and cheese were brought out. The food runner who brought the cheese was friendly and joked with us when we all yelled "Opa" with the flames. The ouzo gave the mojito drink a fun kick. Unfortunately, out server didn't return. We were sitting for a long time, so much that we joked about leaving to get our main course elsewhere. We had pretty much finished the drinks and cheese and hadn't even ordered yet, not to mention that I also had questions about the menu that I hadn't had the opportunity to ask. I finally caught a food runner and requested he bring our server, which he did. After a few questions, I found that the meze of the day was taramsalata ( a salted roe spread that I love). I ordered that along with the octopus. My husband ordered the stuffed salmon. Luckily, after that, the food did not take too long to come out. The taramasalata was good, but not great. I'm used to it having a bit softer texture, which is perhaps a personal preference. The octopus was pretty bad... chewy and had a flavor I didn't care for. The stuffed salmon was stuffed with white cheese and spinach and was quite good. The salmon was well-cooked. All in all, the restaurant is beautiful. Our service that night started off great, but then dwindled. The food we had was hit or miss. I would probably not return to meze, and instead go to a more traditional Greek restaurant with more reliable food and service.

The gyro meat itself was very salty which lead me to reach for water throughout my meal. The rice pilaf was flavorful and ended up being my favorite part of the plate. The cafe is quaint and the walls are covered in beautiful photos of Greece, as well as appreciation plaques from the community. This is the only Greek restaurant that I will visit here in San Diego.

I've been coming to Alexi's for years--honestly close to a decade by now. I came most recently last…read morenight, and I hadn't been in quite a while. Everything was as I remembered. The owner is extremely friendly. The food is classic Greek cafe/diner food. My friend and I ordered a gyro pita sandwich, a small Greek salad, and a chicken kabob with a side of tzatziki. Everything was awesome! The meats were seasoned and flavorful, the salad super fresh, and the tzatziki was incredibly well-crafted. This is a low-key, no-frills Greek joint in the heart of an overly gentrified area, but it holds its own and has for years. The interior isn't going to wow you, but it will transport you back to the 90s and make you feel like you're at home and welcome. Definitely come by and try out some of the items! The baklava is really good here as well.
