My old team invited me to join their lunch at Yanni Bar and Grill. Place is huge with seating indoors and on the patio. French bread had a thin crunchy layer. Loved the fresh baked aroma and flavor. Rice had a fresh mild flavor. Carrots were cooked with a tiny amount of pepper. Very mild flavor. Rack of lamb ordered medium was tender and moist. Suggested this place by a coworker and happy I stopped in. I was sat in the outdoor patio. Surprisingly inviting with fireplaces, lights and enclosed. Staff is friendly, attentive and patient. The experience was top notch. The dining room was AC cooled and tables and booths to suit your needs. Friendly young polite staff that took our orders quickly and knew the menu well. There were three of us in our party tonight plus a toddler. We were brought bread and oil and vinegar immediately. Our selections were the pasta carbonara, pesto angel hair, and the lamb canneloni. It's just very relaxed and I love that. Everything is delicious it's more homemade food. The last time I went was this past Saturday for lunch. In the patio was just lovely because it's covered and has a fountain. They don't rush you out so it's perfect for a visit and tons of parking! I love that part. Don't have to fight for parking like downtown. Haha. Anyway I started with a nice cool ouzo, shared a caprese salad, then had the RB Club. The RB club was so delicious. As for the food--it was a bit of a mixed bag. The pasta I tried reminded me a little too much of a can of Chef Boyardee, though I will say the noodles tasted fresh. The meat on our kebab was glazed a little heavier than I'd prefer, but I could see that being someone else's thing if they like that. The portion sizes were generous, definitely ideal if you're coming hungry. Service was friendly and prompt, and our server gave great recommendations with a smile. The menu has a wide variety, blending Greek, Mediterranean, and Italian dishes--so there's a little something for everyone. I was really excited to try this place, but ended up pretty disappointed. The portions are small and the food overall just doesn't have much flavor. The Frutti Di Mare was especially underwhelming. The sauce was very thin and watery, which made the whole dish feel kind of flat. I did appreciate that they include a side of bread though. I came here for the first time last night with a party of 16 celebrating my friend's wedding with her family. We were seated outdoors in their covered patio, and fortunately the weather was quite warm (and a little humid) in the evening. The tables and seating were well spaced - we had to add another table in and although it was unstable initially, the staff was quick to fix it for us. For appetizers we got a few orders of calamari, bread & oil, and a hummus/tzatziki veggie / pita platter to share across the table. I chose the Linguine frutti di mare with tomato sauce for my main dish, and for dessert I tried the tiramisu and a bite of their cheesecake. They have a wide selection of dishes to choose from, ranging from pasta bowls, salads, and sandwiches (up to 4pm). I don't believe their make their pasta from scratch (it felt too out of the box), but their sauces and seafood in my dish was fresh. Their main entrees included a rack of lamb, chicken, steak, and salmon. We shared a few bottles of wine across the table -- a 2018 cab from Paso Robles. Prices are on the more expensive side for a place that's casual but with a nice atmosphere. Fairly convenient location as it's right off the 15. Ample parking, although the lot can get pretty busy probably at prime meal hours. If the parking lot closest to the restaurant is full, it's possible that the spaces in front of the hotel and/or Chili's is open game. I thought their service was great, as everything came out in a timely manner. read more

Pleasantly surprised with our dinner at Yanni's on Saturday night. We used to frequent this restaurant with our office team for lunch, but since we moved to a work-from-home situation, we hadn't been back in 5 years. Our group was looking for a dinner spot in the area and when someone mentioned Yanni's reviews on Yelp, I immediately vouched for it knowing it would be great for a group (offering Italian + Greek fare with great outdoor seating). What surprised me most was the size of the room in the back and the outdoor seating situation with firepit in the back of the restaurant. Our work-lunches were always seated in the outdoor patio at the front of the restaurant. The waitstaff were very friendly and professional. They kept stopping by to refill our waters (even though the water bottles were on the table for us to self-pour). They were very attentive and answered all our questions. I felt like we were at a fine-dining restaurant (e.g. Marine Room in La Jolla), but still with a casual vibe. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Calamari Misto appetizer was a flavorful mix of fried calamari + veggies. I ordered the Linguine Mussels, which was garlicky and briney - the mussels were meaty. Yum! The 5 year old in our group devoured the kid's burger + half of his mom's Linguine Bolognese. :-) We loved the table they had for our party of 8 - it was a big square table (instead of a long one) so it felt cozy and everyone was able to hear each other and be involved in the conversation, instead of sitting at a long table where it's hard to hear each other from one end to the other. Their lunch sandwiches (offered until 4PM) are delicious, too, and their outdoor patio settings allow for the perfect casual yet upscale feel. It was jam packed Saturday night. Extremely disappointed in this place because it did not live up to the expectations that everyone was raving about. The service was slow. It took too long for our orders to get taken and then it took long for our mediocre food to come out. Prices were on the higher side for mediocre food. We didnt order anything fancy but I felt like it was overpriced. The meals that my kids had were way below average. They are not picky but they didn't enjoy the food. I was hoping it was going to be a great place because its close to home and its just nice to add another restaurant to our frequently visited restaurants but yanni's is not for us. Omg! I've passed by this place so many times but never went there until last night. Let me tell you, the food was awesome! On point and the portions are right for the price. When I say that, I don't need to bring a magnifying glass. Sometimes they put the food in a smaller plate to make the food look like it's overflowing. I had their special last night. The flavor transcended me back to Italy and Greece at the same time. I had the lamb shank Oso Buco on a bed of fettuccine. It was the best thing that I ever had. The place was pretty busy on a Friday night. Food was great. What we got Lamb Skewer with mashed potatoes. Came with bell peppers, onions, carrots, green beans and pita and tzatziki. I loved it. Lamb wasn't over cooked. Tasted great. Was a big portion for me. Pork Chop came with rice and carrots. Bf loved it. Said it tasted good. Made reservations to come here for mother's day. It was my gf's mom's birthday as well and they gave her a free chocolate dessert. They even held the cake for us in the fridge while we ate and put in candles for us to take pictures and cut the cake for us too. I was a little bummed that their normal menu wasn't available for mother's day as I was craving linguine carbonara. I opted for the ravioli sauce instead and it was still really delicious! My gf kept stealing bites from my ravioli lol. I was bummed that I had no leftovers for tomorrow. My gf ordered the scallops with mashed potatoes and I had a bite of that also and it was delicious. I truly enjoyed the overall experience at this restaurant. We were seated in the patio area which was a lovely setting for a summer night. The waitress was very kind and attentive to our table the entire time. There were plentiful menu options that all sounded delicious from pastas, seafood, salads, and skewers. I decided to go with the chicken saltimbocca served with mash potatoes and freshly steamed vegetables. The plates were generous in portions and the prices were very fair. I am fr Maryland and really love Greek food so while visiting our friend here in SanDiego July 13 2026 we enjoyed a really fabulous meal. The 3 of us started with the Saganaki -appetizer which came with fresh bread- the Greek cheese was flavored well and melted. Next we shared the Mediterranean salad -which included lettuce, roasted eggplant and lots of olives. For mains: try the Frutti di mare the sauce was flavorful and perfect-I asked for spicy, and it included shrimp, salmon, mussels, clams, and calamari on pasta. Definitely a do again and lots left over to take home. The second entrée was the lamb kebab which was served with Pita and rice and green beans and fresh vegetables Lamb was very tender and also flavored well. Third entrée was the lamb Cannelloni , kind of like an enchilada, a pasta tube filled with ground lamb, spinach pine nuts and spices topped with cheese and baked. Found a nice "little" date-night spot. There's indoor seating as well as two outdoor patios with heated seating. We chose the outdoor seating, and were pleased with the atmosphere. Plenty of heaters, vine-covered lattice all around, and nice bubbling water fountains distract from the buzzing freeway just around the corner. The server was helpful, attentive and patient with us as we weighed our options. Ultimately we started with the smoked salmon pita, and a couple drinks; Yanni's Mai tai and a bourbon old fashioned. Both drinks were well made, and the old fashioned actually came with a nice giant block of ice. The Salmon pita was inspiring! For the main course, we had the linguini with white Mexican shrimp, and the lamb cannelloni. The pastas were cooked perfectly; firm enough to hold form, but not too hard. The sauces flavorful, rich and smooth, and the meats cooked to perfection. Tiramisu for dessert was heavenly. Dusted with rich cocoa, and had just the slightest aftertaste of spirit. Im sure the alcohol had cooked off, but the blend of flavors and light airy textures were amazing. Took my mother to Yanni's for her birthday and Mother's day celebration! I made reservations and we got seated quickly by the host. They sat us on the outside patio and it was pretty cute since they have a bunch of plants hanging as well. I brought a cake for my mom and they were able to put it in the fridge for me while we ate. I ordered the Scallops and i believe my mom ordered Salmon! The scallops were a 10/10 and i would definitely get it again! It consisted of Toasted Pastrami, Feta, Mozzarella, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado, Red Onion, Mayo, Dijon Mustard. I really enjoyed the pita bread version. This came with your choice of Caesar salad, soup or fries. I opted for the Caesar salad. It was a very filling sandwich loaded with pastrami. We had great service! What can I say... I decided to stop by for lunch around 2 PM. The restaurant was nearly empty, but several tables were still dirty from previous guests. Employees were either on their phones or wandering around. When I walked in, no one acknowledged me. I stood at the entrance for about three minutes while a few employees looked at me but said nothing. After another couple of minutes, one server finally said "hi" -- then walked away without offering a menu or seating. I decided to seat myself, but no one came over, even though around 3 workers saw me at that point. Employees just continued to scroll on their phones. After waiting another five minutes, I got up and left. I'm very disappointed. I work only ten minutes away, but after this experience, neither I nor my coworkers will be coming here. read more
