The crusts were so good and the dressing on the salad was so fresh and zingy! And the cake.... I wish I would've bought an entire one to take home. The food is consistently amazing, the service is excellent and friendly, and the beautiful old house that encapsulates the restaurant is charming and well maintained. The front porch is my favorite place to eat when I go because it has the best view of the musicians who play there every Thursday night through Sunday night. Oh! Heather's is an amazing find! We were staying in Snowmass, but most of the places around us are closed during off-season and we are a little tired of the overly pretentious vibe of Aspen! So, we decided to check out Basalt. We were lucky to find Heather's. The place has a great cozy vibe. Our servers were very friendly and welcoming. The food was simply fantastic! We enjoyed everything we had. Starting with their delicious Wild Mushroom Soup, then a very fresh and tasty Garden Salad, next we split a Chicken Pot Pie and the Stuffed Pork Chop entrees! That stuffed pork chop had a wonderful mushroom risotto accompanying it and was stuffed with a delicious gruyere cheese and a nicely done asparagus. So good! We arrived looking for a good meal after being at the river. The host called us 1 minute before our reservation to get details on our reservation, and was very kind and accommodating. Hopes were high. We got sat and were delivered water promptly after sitting. Our server approached our table around 5 minutes after seating, beverages were delivered timely, and then our server disappeared. Our server became almost too attentive as the rest of our party arrived, asking for drinks before we could open the menu. Our appetizers/"tapas" took quite some time to arrive. Before we could enjoy the course we were just delivered, we were instructed to order our entrees. We ordered a lot, in accordance to our servers timing. Entrees came, and a majority of our table's entrees were cold, far below anything we could ingest. The middle of our pies were cold, insinuating the dishes were prepared from frozen. The next time our table was interacted with was from a support staff member, far after we decided we were unhappy with our food. We understood the uncomfortability of this issue, but it almost seemed like we became abandoned. Our exact dishes were re-prepaired timely, but obviously the same dishes we were served, only this time, they were delivered visibly burnt and flakey. We felt bad for having to send our dishes back, but it was apparent the server became embarrassed for the food she had to serve. There was no accommodations delivered to us, not that that was ever an expectation, but it felt embarrassing for everyone involved. This place came highly recommending to us, and we were very optimistic, but left very disappointed. read more

Excellent lunch. Wasn't sure how this was going to go at first because it took a minute to have someone take our order, but then it all fell into place and the meal was well worth it. I had the turkey, cranberry, and brie panini with cole slaw. Both were delicious. My guy had the jerk chicken quesadilla and he said it was delicious - nice and crisp with mango salsa. Went to a lunch with 8. I ordered the Veggie Pot Pie and was very disappointed. I took 3-4 bites to explore the flavors and textures. It just was not worth eating. It was dry. Kind of like a scrambled egg inside. The "cheddar biscuit topping was a dry burnt blob. The other pies at the table looked equally unappealing. The server never came to check on us. At the end of the meal she asked if I would like it wrapped to go. I said "no thank you it wasn't very good". She had no response and bill was not adjusted. Side salad was good. The mash potatoes were creamy and the lamb was mouthwatering. It paired so well with the cheesy bread that they gave us. Service: 5/5 If I could give this more than I five I would. All of the servers were so sweet and helpful. We had a seat at the bar and was quickly greeted by Nora. She is the best and truly made our experience. She shared so many of her stories and experiences and chatting to her made out night. Ambiance: 5/5 There was live music in this restaurant but it was not overpowering. It was mellow and smooth and we even recognized some of the songs they played. It brought out a wonderful lively crowd to this sleepy little town. We visited Heathers in Basalt and while the staff was genuinely welcoming and very sweet, the food just wasn't great. Parking is also tough since there's none nearby. We ordered the chicken pot pie, which was very tiny for the price, and it unfortunately had canned vegetables. We also ordered the pot roast, a salad, soup and stuffed mushrooms that were watery. Even the pies we tried were dry. For two people the bill was over $200, which made the quality even more disappointing. Overall, I'd give it a 4/10. Our party of four was sat outside, right near the live music which was lovely (and not too loud)! We started with a round of drinks - I got the blackberry smash which was way too boozy for me (one of the reasons I'm not giving a five star). Food - our table started with the Brie appetizer which was very tasty! Each couple got the pot roast and chicken pot pie to share. Our salad came early and was really tasty, I loved the light basil vinaigrette. The pot roast then came out before the pies (pies take 20 minutes to make once ordering) and it was delicious! We agreed one of the most tender roast we've ever had. I loved the underlying taste of rosemary. The carrots and onions were fall apart delicious. The service was OK - our server was obviously very busy but we didn't feel like a priority (lots of affluent older people at the restaurant were being catered to more). I had the Pulled Pork Tamale pie. It was delicious. It came with a house salad, I loved the dressing! My dad had the Chicken Pot Pie, and that is a must try. The flavors of everything blended perfectly. I just wanted more of the yummy crust! My mom had the tuna wrap and thought it was great. My boys were happy with their noodles with butter and cheese. We came in armed with Yelp research and everything amazing that you have read about this place is true. I had the wild mushroom soup. Insane. But the basil vinaigrette on the house salad was refreshing and so flavorful that we devoured those spring vegetables like they were chocolate. We had the warm Brie appetizer as well. Both were absolutely incredible. All dishes were clean by now. Somehow we had room for dessert. After a careful review of the dessert case, we decided upon the pear and raspberry cobbler. We didn't think we could fit the punishment of any icing, but the pistachio and carrot cake was highly recommended.
