I ordered some wings through Grub Hub from Heavenly Buffalo at 1807 W. Markham St. Durham. They gave the driver wings w/a receipt listing the flavor I ordered but when I opened the box they had the wrong wings. I called them and this great customer service rep and he apologized and took my name, number and address and told me that I could come in and get a replacement. When I called the next day to notify them that I was coming to get my wings, the young lady named Ava told me that she couldn't find any notes stating I would be compensated. Then she told me that it was grub hubs fault. I explained that they had to hand the driver the food because the receipt had all of my info on it. She then proceeded to say that she didn't know who worked last night. I told her to look on the schedule. I asked to speak to her manager and she put him on the phone and he yelled what she said is the bottom line. I asked his name and he said it was Micah or Micheal then hung on me. They don't have a buzzer system or a way to text you when your order is ready-should definitely invest in that since orders take 20-40 minutes and no one wants to keep checking back on their food. The lady at the counter suggested the Sweet Thai for me to try, after I asked her what was good. I wasn't too enthused about the nuts, but I figured I could just pick them off if I didn't like them. Maybe they added some flavor? Lol! I sat on a bench and waited for my order. Numerous customers pulled up, paid and left. If I was a local I would've done the same. Either way, it wasn't long before I had my wings. I dashed off to my car and opened the box. I shoved a few fries in my mouth while snapping my pics, then tossed my phone aside to take a bite. Yeah- Durhamers, Durhamites, (or whatever you all are called)....how very lucky you guys are! I've been to a few of the top wing places in Charlotte, and was left scratching my head about why those places were voted the best. Honestly, one would think with e being a vegetarian I would t enjoy heavenly buffaloes. And I am someone who believes vegetarian food should not have to be meat-inspired food for them to be tasty and can and have shined beautifully on their own as far as food goes. But heavenly buffaloes makes darn good vegan nuggets that are delicious. And it's the one exception I make. I almost always call ahead for pick up so I've never had issues with waiting. This brightly colored building has a small window where you can order up your wings sauced, with dry rub, bone-in, boneless and vegetarian. Along with an option of fries, that's about it. So we order up three of their specialty flavors and hang out on the porch. There are some picnic tables on the side but we head on over to Dain's Place and hang out at the bar there with our lunch. The wings are well fried and tasty, we've got three of the special sauces (can't remember the names) and they ranged from tangy to sweet to savory, good stuff. What as most impressive was the large side of waffle fries we got. Perfectly fried, tender potato crunch, you could feed four people off this app, huge! If you're in Durham and haven't stopped by Heavenly Buffaloes....not sure what you're doing with your life. The wings here are deeeeelicious! Love the variety of sauces and rubs you can choose to put on your wings (boneless or not). Their waffle fries are a nice addition to your saucy chicken-y meal as well. The half pound of boneless wings is more than enough food for me so it's a good portion for what you pay. I've tried a couple of their sauces but one I'd HIGHLY recommend to try is the Jamaican Jerk, especially if you like spicy. It's the perfect blend of sweet, tangy, and a great kick of spice (keep a side of ranch handy). I appreciate that they throw in some celery sticks with your order too...kind of makes you feel better for bingeing on chicken and fries. It's really cool that they deliver--I'd totally take advantage of that if I was sticking around in Durham for a while longer. The guys and gals working there are really friendly too and your order is up pretty quickly. There isn't a whole lot of seating outside so I'd suggest picking it up to go. Great food, service, and location. We chose this restaurant since it was near Bull City Escape and because they have vegan and non-vegan options. Our order was made quickly and accurately. We tried various chicken wings and vegan wings. Overall, the hot wings and the vegan garlic Parmesan wings were favorites. The vegan nuggets are a little chewy but the seasoning is delicious. I love celery and bleu cheese so I was excited to see that these accompanied each of our wing orders. The pop and juice are sold in glass containers so that was also a plus. I can't say enough good things about Heavenly Buffaloes! My friend first introduced me to their delicious food a couple years ago, and I've been obsessed ever since. I'm vegetarian, and was delighted to see that they offer vegan "wings". My favorite sauce is the hot vegan Buffalo, but all their other sauces are wonderful as well. The waffle fries are to die for. This is the only place we go to eat at in Durham now. Just be sure to double check your bag if you order additional ranch/blue cheese dressing. They've either forgotten to include them or added the wrong dressing on multiple occasions.
