It took a week and they set up an appointment, which got cancelled the night before. The worker could no longer help us. They called a week later to say its hard to find a worker for 3 hours a day 5 days a week that most of our care givers want full time. We haven't heard from them since. When I called today they felt when they said that its hard to find someone for 3 hours that meant they were done helping us. We would have been open to 4 hours less days it didn't come up. It stressful enough to have an aging parent but then this is how were dealt with.

We had gone through a lot with my dad before he passed away and so we knew what we wanted and what we didn't. Unfortunately, the informal network we used for my dad didn't have women caregivers so we were back to to square one. After doing a lot of research with the local senior center and online we called For Papa's Sake, which is based out of the town next to where my mom lives. From the very first phone call I suspected we had gotten lucky. After a couple of calls and some group discussion between me, my mom and a For Papa's Sake senior person we decided we'd try them out. And am I glad we did. They listened to my mom's and my requests, likes, dislikes, deal-breakers etc. and they never batted an eye. They did say it might take a bit longer than usual (given our needs) to find the right care giver, but they called back in less than 5 days and we had a care giver within 10 days to 2 weeks of that 1st main discussion. That care giver has worked out so well. It has really improved our lives and I can go days without worrying about my mom...what a relief. That's what For Papa's Sake provides: relief! If you are looking for an alternative to a nursing home or aged care facility or whatever you want to call it, For Papa's Sake really cares and I would encourage you to give them a call. They have worked out great for us and I would not recommend them for something so important if they weren't doing a great job.

I am a current resident who's been at Bella Terra Wheeling for a little more than thirteen months. I have seen Mike, Kandi, Nikki, Yesenia, Jocelyn, Fran, and Michelle work very hard to keep this facility running. Many of the nurses and CNAs provide good support to care for the patients at this nursing/rehabilitation home. I have seen the staff as a team handle multiple situations to provide care and comfort for the patients. I also want to say that I am impressed with the Activity and Receptionist team members as they provide more layers of assistance and cohesiveness to help form a strong employee base. One of the benefits of living and recuperating at this facility is that the meals are decent. I lived at another home before transferring here and the food is actually much better. I get meals with chicken as the main course far more than I used to at the previous rehab center. And I get fresh salads more often as well. Bella Terra Wheeling also has staff members in place to help with setting up doctor appointments and transportation. For an independent person like myself, I don't utilize all of the services available but I am very glad that many residents do have access to these benefits. I want to close out my review with a huge thank you to each and every staff member for being patient and understanding with me and many of the residents as caring for us can be quite challenging at times. I was so hesitant on leaving her at Bella Terra as I did not know anything about her condition which was Dementia and Bella Terra. I had no clue how to take care of my mom as she was uncontrollable and hard to reason with. I am also a really hard person to deal with as I fight for every living breath for my family and try to prolong their life as much as I can. I want to say Thank you to Angelina, my lovely angel nurse Daisy, nurse Raj and many more nurses and CNAs that took care of my mom. Daisy you of all people I owe a huge apology to by not cooperating with you especially. You guys saw my mom slipping away to cancer and dementia and I tried to fight for her life and I was wrong. Hospice gave her freedom and relief from her pain and I tried to hold on and gave grief to you and Angelina. You guys were angels to put up with me. God bless you both as you truly are beautiful people inside and out. Daisy I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care onf my mom. Bella Terra not only cares for their patients , their nurses go above and beyond for caring for people with dementia and help bring their life to reality. Every visit I saw big involvement with patients from care, food service, entertaintment, physical therapy. These patients would not have a life at home the way they get cared for at Bella Terra. These are my parting words. The care you will receive will be exceptional and the nurses they have here deserve pay of a celebrity with the care they provide for patients with severe mental and physical disabilities. My mother is at Lee Manor now receiving care. My family's experience has been a mix of good but…read moremostly bad. The first month my mother was at Lee Manor, she was on the 1st floor. This floor is clean and welcoming it is staff appropriate number of residents to staff for the most part. She was later moved to the 4th floor due to her medical coverage would no longer cover 1st floor care. My mom was sent to Medicaid floor. Our family understood as we didn't have the money to cover the co-pay $$$$for 1st floor. The 4th floor is dirty, and smells of urine and poop once you step out of the elevator. Residents are left in dinning hall for hours at a time. Some are slouched over in tables asleep or falling out of chairs. When my mom presses the call button it can take up to 2 and a half hours for a response from staff. Staff can be rude and incentive. We have to be present to get my mom the attention she needs and physical go get a CNA or nurse to assist with care after an hour of having pressed call button. I do not recommend this facility for your loved one's unless.... They are getting care or residency on the 1st floor.

My husband was transferred from Lutheran General to Lee Manor for rehab. for 2 weeks…read more He stayed on the 1st floor and he was alone in his room. We liked the fact that the place was clean, it didn't smell of urine at all, his room was clean ,the cleaning crew came daily to pick up the garbage ,change the sheets and cleaned his room several times a week as well as his bathroom. We also liked the fact that he was picked up 5 days a week to the exercise room to work on his major problems. They also gave him a bath twice a week. The entire staff was very nice and helpful, both medical and office. I don't know what's going on the other floors or the long term care situations? I can only emphasis on our experience. Yes, the food could be a little better and the response when one press the call button could improve!
