Bill and Jamie. Be sure to ask for them by name. I have to deduct a star for Clark's front office operation, however. They were the destination warehouse for my Door-to-Door move and several calls to them were not returned. The expeditor told me this is unusual, so hopefully a temporary problem.

Initially, I really liked the sales team that came and did the estimate. However, they sent a few very unprofessional members to move our apartment and they did not respect our stuff at all. Throwing boxes around, fooling around with our stuff, not taking care for valuable items. We ended up with many damaged items. Also, in agreement with the commenter below, it's very much a bait and switch. As with many movers, they charm you with the initial prices and personality, but they don't represent how the process will go well at all. I was told many times how much space my stuff would take up and then they spread all my stuff out to take up more space and charge me more. My entire apartment fit in 1/2 a small truck (there was another load in there already) and when it arrived at my destination they spread it out into a whole truck worth of space and the last crate has a couple boxes on the floor. No support from their parent company Mayflower either. It sounds like maybe a small move worked for people, but don't trust them with big moves. Their equipment was also old and they don't offer any "extras" included in the deal like boxes, packing supplies, etc. There are so many movers in the area that friends had better luck with, go somewhere else.

I searched Google reviews for movers who also offered packing services, and reached out to Pony Express right away. I said that my scheduled movers may not be able to move me anymore, and asked about availability. I received a response from Mike almost immediately, who told me he could absolutely help me out before the end of September, and we made plans to communicate the next day. It turns out that my original mover was able to make a miracle happen and I didn't need to use Pony Express after all, but I was so impressed by Mike's service and help. They showed up at 3:45 and unloaded an entire cargo van worth of stuff in just about 2 hours. Tom and his crew all wore masks and saved us the strain of lugging furniture up 3 flights of stairs. The entire crew was polite and followed direction well when I asked that certain boxes be placed in specific rooms. The second time we used Tom's service was just as great. We fell in love with some furniture at Home Goods in Latham but their delivery services were astronomically overpriced. Tom quoted us a much better number. He picked up our pieces from Home Goods the same day and delivered them to our apartment the next morning. Everything was in excellent condition. Tom kept me updated as to the fact that he had picked up our stuff and as to his ETA to our home. We paid Tom via venmo and I accidentally overpaid Tom by 100 dollars. I texted Tom immediately and let him know about my error. He assured me it would be taken care of, and a partial refund was given to me later that morning. I'm beyond impressed with Tom's punctuality and professionalism. I would absolutely recommend his services to anyone who needed a dependable set of movers in the capital region.

However there are now gouges and scrapes on the edges of all my tables and the frame fell off the glass from the bottom door of the barrister bookcase. When I contacted the owner as stated in his contract for damaged furniture, he said he was sorry I felt this way , they did a great job and to send him the court date.

Lamana's knows what they are doing. We packed our personal items, so the crew only had to move the furniture & boxes. They just needed us to direct them as to placement in our new house. In all, the entire process took about 5 hours. We should note my husband is immune compromised and all staff took precautions when it came to pandemic precautions. We are grateful for their professionalism and concern, in this regard. There was a GREAT article about Lamana's in the Albany Times Union on 9/2/20, this is a multigenerational family run business and they deserve the high praise and recognition. I've already passed them on to another friend who will be moving in the near future and to our realtor. I do recommend calling & booking as soon as you have a closing date. When the guys came down, it was a week after the big blizzard in NYC, so getting around was a bit rough, but these guys didn't blink. We also probably had about 10-20% more than we thought we did and the guys just kept at it. Seeing them pack the truck was like watching a real life tetris game. After the drive up, they loaded everything into our living room per our request, took a well deserved beer break (it was the least we could offer) and they even gave us some recommendations on where to get some dinner. They…read moredidn't bother wrapping my furniture properly--my couch cushions were literally falling off as they carried it and were put into the truck completely unwrapped. The movers also kept complaining about heavy items, which made the whole process feel uncomfortable and unprofessional. They also caused damage and then tried to hide. They broke a leg off my bed, said nothing, and left the broken leg on the floor under the bed as if I wouldn't notice. They also dropped a fragile box down the stairs and later insisted they "checked everything" and nothing was broken, which was simply untrue. Their solution to fixing the bed was even more unacceptable. They sent someone out to put epoxy on a part that had previously been soldered, which didn't work at all. Now I'm left with a damaged bed, a box of shards of glass that was previously worth hundreds and a terrible overall experience.
