I got the rocky burger and onion rings, and let me tell you the burger is large and in charge with American cheese and pepper jack cheese, then there's the bacon and jalapeños with lettuce tomato and onions. So darn good OMG. The onion rings are huge and made to order. I would definitely drive back here from Baton Rouge just for this burger and we'll you know the pepper jack boudin balls as well lol Sorry no picture, I only thought of it as I was half way through my burger read more

Found this gem on YELP after taking a wrong turn. They're working on a bigger building, but the tiny heat lamp counter in the gas station contains pure cajun heaven. The pepperjeck stuffed Boudin balls are the perfect combination of deep fried crispy outside, spicy sausage, and gooey cheesy goodness. Boudin pepperjack roll ups were super flavorful as well. Crawfish pie had airy, flakey crust, but the filling wasn't my preference. Must be an acquired taste. Highly Recommend!!! read more

Wow! This place was a true find. Thanks Yelp community for getting this place on the map. Don't be put off by the fact that this place is in the back of gas station. The place has been around a while, but the place is clean and the fried food can't be beat. We ordered a small bag of cracklin, just enough for a small snack, and man, was it delicious. Ordered the fried corn and threw a little Tony cacheres on it ---fried magic. My favorite was the chicken pistolette (fried, of course) and the boudin balls were definitely the biggest on the block ---maybe in Louisiana. Been there many a time.... I'm done. Slowest service ever that's say a lot for the state of Louisiana. The broken bathroom has been that way for months. Maybe because that's the last time they cleaned it. Needs some type of management that can make their system work. It does have passable fried foods and reasonable cracklins. We tried the cracklins and the boudin balls, pepper jack filled. The cracklins were so/so. I think maybe they'd been under the heating lamp too long. One of the several I tried was amazing, but the rest were dried out and hard to chew. However, the boudin balls were AMAZING!!! OMG were those things tasty! My boudin history is not very extensive, but I have it on good authority that this gas station / diner has the best boudin you can buy in Louisiana. On our drive from New Orleans to Dallas we stopped here to pick some up and based on the boudin ball I wolfed down in the parking lot and the 2 lbs. of sausage I smelled all the way to Texas I'd have to agree. You might be put off by the mangy cats in the parking lot and the sketchy convenience store vibe, but I think that only adds to the authenticity. read more

Don't let that deter you. People drive from all around to get a taste of the amazing Boudin. So we decided to take a 2 hr drive to get some boudin balls from Billy in Knotz Springs. It a gas station/ food joint on hwy 190 near the Atchafalaya Basin. This place is a hidden gem, the boudin balls ever, fried corn on the cob and cracklin ever. This place is worth the drive. Being that I am from the West of the Atchafalaya River, it is hard for me to find any boudin better then Billy's Boudin. I grew up eating Ray's boudin (which is the same), but when they introduced Billy's boudin, I have been stuck ever since. *Just for clarification: Ray's boudin has more rice and Billy's has more spice and meat. So every time we are either going home or coming from home, we have to stop and get boudin and boudin balls. Oh how could I forget about the cracklins. They are to die for. I had them at my wedding so that should tell you how much my husband an I loved them. We go there every time we're in town and if I can get them shipped here to DC I would. I'm still looking into that. The place is your regular country store gas station. There's a diner next door that serves a fuller menu. The food there is awesome as well. You can't expect 5 star decor but the ladies who made the food and served us were good people. Yep you are reading that right! 5 star gas station food and it's all because of Billy's Balls -- their Boudin Balls that is. My brother and sister had to go to Opelousas today and brought us home a box ( we are in Baton Rouge) and I swear we were like kids in Christmas when the box came in! Boudin Balls can be found all over Louisiana by these are just something truly special. They are not hard but soft pillowy balls packed full of spicy meat goodness. The do not have as much rice as some places, so if you like loads of rice these are not for you. Also, they are spicy! But it's a good burn!!! Nothing a little milk can't stop! I'm not a big cracklings eater but my sister swears there are the best. She never makes it all the way home with a whole bag. They eat them on the way! Billy's is def a place you need to try! Well I have loved the food here for several years and make it a point to pass by anytime I'm headed anywhere nearby. The food is so good in fact that it allows the servers to be snippy and they know you'll be back. Ive been wanting to try the grill since the new location opened and since they dont close until 11 we planned our return trip to pass by and try the burgers. Didnt see it posted anywhere (possible I just didn't see it) but apparently the grill closes at 8:30 even if you're in line at 8:20 and the cashiers are slow so you don't reach the counter until 8:32. NO EXCEPTIONS the mean old lady tells our cashier. Ok fine. I'll still be back because that's how good the cracklins and boudin balls are but I guess the grill wasnt meant to be read more

We drive all over Louisiana looking and taste testing boudin and this is by far our favorite. Best Boudin balls around! These things are seriously 3-4 inches in diameter and with all the Cajun flavor you could ask for! I sometimes steer clear of Cajun unless I specifically want something really spicy. These Boudin balls weren't seriously spicy, or even really peppery either - just full of flavor.
