Great asian spot in the heart of the Heights! Although our waiter's english was very rough, we were very happy to have dinner club here and enjoy some really great Chinese/Chinese-American style dishes without having to go to SW Houston. Loved the hot mame & salt & pepper tofu! Met friends for a casual dinner. Our waiter was delightful.. his interaction was warm & he was very attentive during our entire stay. We enjoyed a long after dinner conversation & he never made us feel like we were overstaying our welcome. The place was full of other patrons with very few open tables. Pretty goo Americanized Chinese food. Normally, I don't go for this kind of cuisine, but every now and then I get a craving for it. It's a good value and the service is really quick and friendly. Tonight I had the wonton soup (4/5), which has lots of wontons, but is a bit heavy on msg. The chicken wings (3/5)were a little bit tough, but the honey sauce was tasty. We also had orange chicken (4/5), which was nice and flavorful. The tofu lo mien (5/5) was a nice change of pace because it was actually light enough to eat directly. Often you see this kind of fish too heavily sauces and salted for the Chinese palate to tolerate without dilution with more noodles or rice. We got sautéed vegetables (4/5) to round out the meal, which were fresh and mostly still crunchy, they way they are supposed to be. read more

I've been a patron of this restaurant for some time. I was there today. The meal was fantastic. It is a stand alone building, charming inside, and situated in a good location in the Houston Heights. It is such a treat with Asian cuisine to receive your order hot right out of the wok. We ordered General Tso's beef, chicken, and shrimp, which we shared. In addition, we had Vietnamese egg roles and dumplings, both fried and steamed. Texture and taste were wonderful. We had to allow the egg roles to cool a moment before we could eat them. I believe this is a family run restaurant and the service is excellent. Everyone there is friendly, kind and attentive to your needs. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The worse experience ever! The lady behind the counter literally gave me trouble over an additional hot sauce that I had requested for TWO SEPARATE orders... She was rude and very demeaning. Can't believe they would allow someone like her to work the front counter. Lady needs to improve her customer service before she engages with any of the customers. First time here! When I'm in the Houston Heights area I know I have a new go-to for: *Ample napkins *Full size Siracha and hoisin sauce without requesting it *Salt shakers on every table! The service was amazing and so was the food! I ordered a vegetarian dish and I make it a point to to try a restaurants tofu when I can. Their Tofu Pho was excellent! First visit. We haven't really found a good Chinese/Asian food place in the Houston area that competes with our faves from home (the Dallas area) but this is my favorite so far. Dropped by for a to-go lunch one day and front desk person was super nice and friendly. Tried the pad thai and it was a nice version and the shrimp were flavorful and not the tiny kind you might expect. Enjoyed the egg rolls - they were thinner than a lot of egg rolls but I think that makes them easier to eat. So that's fine. Shared the won-ton soup with my hubby that night. He proclaimed the cilantro aspect of the soup "genius" and I have to agree. Not really sure why you can get the other soups as part of the lunch special but if you substitute won-ton you have to pay the full price. But I'll still get won-ton next time, too.
