First of all, I had a great time at this restaurant. I thought the ambience was perfect for a romantic date night. The server we had was amazing and volunteered to change our utensils and plates along with refill our water very often. The food was very good. The meat with the focaccia bread was delicious as the appetizer and the truffle fries were also very, very good. my favorite part of the dinner though was my pasta I ordered the gnocchi with pesto and I really liked it. That was my first time trying gnocchi, very delicious. Something I would 100% recommend everyone order if they dine here is the tiramisu. that tiramisu was so good. The mascarpone was very rich and fluffy and the lady fingers submerged in coffee were just perfect. It was the best tiramisu I've ever had and the serving size for the tiramisu is perfect for two people or even one person if you love tiramisu overall I would say this restaurant is the perfect fancy date night with the coolest most mysterious ambience not to mention how it's hidden in another restaurant. We were a party of 8 and we were told that any party of 5 or more requires a reservation. That's not the reason I'm giving this a 1 star. I'm giving this place a 1 star for the gentleman who was pretty rude when he turned us away. It's not like the place was packed. They could have easily accommodated 2 groups of 4, or even see if they had any availability later that night. Nothing of that sort. Just "you need to make a reservation...we only take reservations. Yea make one next time" while he pointed at their card. I didn't see this rule on their website and I am visited from California, so I wouldn't have access to their business card prior to my visit. Overall, won't be returning due to my first interaction with them. That can sometimes make or break the experience. I don't expect them to bent over backwards...but atleast offer to check if they have anything available for later or even the next day. read more

The Caesar was very pepper-forward, not too bad, the filet was excellent (up charged for sauces offered) and the short rib was not tender with a lot of unrendered fat...pretty bad. Wow this place was packed on a weeknight! Super cozy inside with comfy booths but sooooo loud. The service was very very slow and it seemed at times the servers forgot about us. I tried the Caesar salad which was crisp and fresh. Also tried the bucatini, a vegetarian version. The waitress said this was a bigger portion pasta but it was honestly pretty small. The sauce was also so spicy!! The flavor of the fresh tomatoes with the spices was good however, but nothing amazing. I also tried a bit of sea bass with purée which was better than my entree for sure. I would come back and try something else! I'm a bit hesitant to post a first review on this brand new Reston secret.... It's absolutely amazing and tucked away behind a hidden door in the one week old Open Road Distillery. Only open evenings. To be honest, I didn't know it was there until it suddenly popped up on Open Table this past week. The service was perfect given it's so new. Everyone was so professional and knowledgeable about the menu including the specialty drinks, entrees and desserts. I loved the Mai Tai's, Manicotti and the crispy layer potatoes. The Coconut Cream Pie Trifle was not exactly what I expected, but still very good. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. We came here because the menu looked great. However food was ok for what we ordered. The Service is something to be desired. There were employees around the host stand but no one greeted us. We stood there awkwardly for a while until someone finally came up to us. As for while we were at our table, we probably would have ordered more if our server came around more often and if it did not take over 10- 15 minutes to get a drink after ordering. Cocktails were good, I definitely recommend the sweet pea. Maybe sitting in the bar area would be better instead of sitting in a secluded room with other tables. read more

The waiters and waitresses are very attentive and seek to really make your time at Heirloom a truly pleasant time. The General Manager Samuel is a testament to how amazing his staff is, as I believe he is a leading example for quality customer service, he was out on the floor, greeting everyone and making sure everyone was satisfied. I had a reservation mixup for a party of 6 for a birthday occasion and he saw to it personally that this was addressed promptly, correctly, and going so far as to make sure I was satisfied with the outcome. Heirloom is a cute "speakeasy" meaning there is an unmarked door inside another restaurant. The decor and ambiance is so nice. The drinks are unique and beautiful and the food and service were great. I especially loved the gnocchi and the burrata. The appetizers are well worth the price but the entrees seem priced on the high side for the portion. I would give this place a 4.5 taking off .5 for price. I will be back again for sure. I would love a happy hour with discounted items if only 3-6. read more

Updated review: After leaving my review of our first visit to Heirloom, the restaurant reached out to invite us to give them another shot. Last night we took them up on that and made our second trip there for dinner with friends. From the start of dinner, the staff were very welcoming and attentive. Two members of management stopped by during the meal to make sure we were taken care of, and it was clear that they were determined to improve upon our experience of the first visit. As for the food and drinks, everything we had was fantastic. We tried a few different cocktails, including items on their signature, seasonal, and classics lists. All were well executed and flavorful. The wine list also offered some fun and interesting options, and we landed on a bottle of Barolo that was a great accompaniment to the food. We ordered several dishes for the table, and I can honestly say there wasn't a single miss. All in all, we tried: the Focaccia and ham, Burrata, Baked Shrimp, House Made Rigatoni, the Porterhouse, Roasted Mushrooms, Broccoli Rabe, Apple Tarte Tatin, and the Chocolate Hazelnut Dome. As mentioned, all were delicious, but some of the table favorites were the Burrata, Rigatoni, Porterhouse, and the Apple tart. The only minor setback we had was that they were out of a side dish that we ordered and a dessert we intended to order, but we were able to find alternatives. Like the first visit, the ambiance was great. It's lively without being loud, and dim without being dark. The service was a huge step up from our initial visit, and I can say that they definitely followed through with improving our experience as promised. On a quiet Wednesday evening, decided to check out this relatively new place in Reston Town Center. What a pleasant surprise to find this diamond in the rough behind a door in what is essentially a brew pub "Open Road" in front and cool cocktail bar with delicious interpretations of appetizers and entree in back. To start the cocktails are foo-foo high end style, house liquor or your choice. The Old Fashioned was just right. Not sweet or over muddled... Just block of ice bourbon and dash of bitters, olive garnished.. White wine served in tall stemware crisp and refreshing. And then the belly satisfying delights arrived.. Buratta was to die for.. Shrimp, in "beurre blanc" outstanding! As if that wasnt satisfying enough, we decided to go all out and order more goodies.. Pan roasted scallops.. oh what a delight and the crescendo seafood "Cioppino" Simply heaven.. For desert, sorbet and coconut cream trifle, satisfied the sweet tooth all the way. The staff was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. The mood lighting may be extreme for some, however on date night with that special person, the atmosphere is conducive to romance. Parking for Reston Town Center is just across the street and most convenient to the toll road or 267 Fairfax County Parkway. As this was the first toe dip in the water and the water was fine.. I so wanted to love this restaurant/ speakeasy, BUT...it was too LOUD on Saturday night at 7:30pm. From the moment we stepped through the rose adorned door, it was an onslaught of chatter. Since our table wasn't ready yet, we opted to leave and wait out in the Open Road Distilling Co. area that was quieter. We were notified via text that our table was ready and seated in the small room off the main entry. Hoping for a quieter setting, we were sadly disappointed when the nearby table of 6 decided not to use their inside voices through their entire one hour dessert course. Noticeably quieter once they left, but the music was too loud, it was forcing people to speak louder. So, you can't choose your dining mates, how about the staff? The hostess was not friendly, not rude either, just indifferent. Our waiter was also not friendly or rude and very difficult to hear. He was just meh. The only redeeming thing was the food. We ordered: focaccia starter , gnocchi pasta to share, sea bass for my husband, and scallops for me. Full disclosure: I had previously decided I am not a scallops girl, but past photos & reviews had me second guessing that. I ate half of each of the 4 scallops on the plate and it tasted like they were not fully cooked and had a slight off smell. The cauliflower seemed undercooked as well. The other 3 dishes were fantastic though, like wanting to order seconds of each. The gnocchi was melt in your mouth as it should be and the sea bass had the most perfect sear on it. The flavor combinations of the other 3 dishes were spot on. It saddens me to not write a stellar review, but it was our honest opinion.
