Love this place. It is one of my new regulars. Everything here so far is good. The fried calamari is great, comes with 3 dipping sauces (all so good!). It's fresh and crispy, not at all rubbery. GOD I love it. I am a lobster bisque snob. This lobster bisque is really tasty. It's the real deal. The service is great, the staff is very friendly. We'll continue to eat dinner here. Food is always very good here. The only reason I really do not go more often is because of their cocktails price. Here and brass rail, their martinis, patrons are $18. Higher than Bryant Cooper's, Morton's, etc. They really need to adjust their drink prices. It's truly higher than anywhere around... read more

We were excited to dine here after hearing so many great things. Alas, the experience for me was subpar at best. I really cannot understand all the great reviews. I ordered the endive salad and it was literally the same color as the plate - white. There was ONLY sliced up yellow endive - no other salad accoutrements except white, flavorless cheese, i.e. there could've been nuts, pickled onions, fresh herbs, croutons, it was SO BAD. The dressing was non-existent - didn't taste like anything. And cost $13?? Simply unacceptable. Please remove this item from the menu forever. If there were ingredients that were supposed to be in the salad, but for whatever reason was out of stock, they should've just said something to that effect. My husband ordered the oysters on the half shell and paella. He enjoyed his meal. For dessert, we ordered the carrot cake. It was good, not great. Flavor was good, but texture was mushy/wet, not like cake at all. The best thing I ordered here was the Acqua Panna water. Kudos for carrying that. read more

One of our favorite Long Island restaurants, Heirloom Tavern doesn't look like much from the outside (it shares a parking lot with the Glen Head train station...), but inside it's a gem. The outdoor garden has been beautifully appointed with palm trees and large umbrellas -- a great escape, especially during COVID-19. Food wise, we love the lobster tacos (one of several modestly priced bar plates) to start, and for entrees, try the shrimp scampi, or the horseradish crusted salmon. The menu changes, but in the past I've also enjoyed the duck with cherries. I personally love side dishes, and so I'm thankful that Heirloom Tavern gives you the opportunity to select any two with most entrees. My personal favorites are the grilled asparagus, mushroom risotto, mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. As a bonus, the bread they serve with the meal is delicious, and comes from St. Rocco's bakery in Glen Cove (another local gem). While I prefer to dine-in, the family dinners they started offering during COVID are a good deal and serve around 4 people for just $60-75, including entree, salad, sides and cookies. I'm not sure if they're still offering this, but I loved this option for take-out. read more

This is by far my favorite restaurant around. Went today with my family for brunch and it was amazing. Had the fall salad special and shrimp and grits. We ate here last Friday night, and the whole experience was fantastic. We walked in and our table was waiting right on time. The cocktails are great, the octopus appetizer and the mushroom risotto were fantastic. For my main course I split the French onion burger, with a seafood paella that was a special, and both were delicious, but the burger was exceptionally yummy. A hidden gem in the Glen Head LIRR parking lot. My husband and I were holiday shopping and wanted to go to a small pub for a late lunch. I checked Yelp and this seemed like the best. What an amazing surprise. It doesnt look inviting from the outside but when you go inside, it's like being in a small European pub. I ordered a feta salad and sides my husband ordered the blackened chicken sandwich which came with thin crispy sweet potato fries. It all was so delish. The waiter Andy was amazing, friendly and attentive even though he was waiting on many tables all at once. The bar was like an antique looking pub. I would definitely recommend this tavern if you want a quaint place with delicious fresh food! Would have given it 5 stars but thought the prices of some items were a little high. Restaurant Week LI. 5 of us mid-afternoon on Sunday. We had choice of ala-carte, brunch or restaurant week menu. We all had the 3 course restaurant week menu ($28.95). We started with the mussels, duck confit and a salad. The mussels were cooked just to fineness. Tomato base sauce. Very fresh. Duck confit was a little tough for my taste and a bit bland. Ahi tuna for my girls and the boys and I had the hanger steak for entrees. Ahi tuna we asked for seared but it was completely well done. Still good but not as ordered. The hanger steak however was cooked exactly as requested. Rare, it was perfect. Side of mushroom gravy on top of purée carrots with a touch of vanilla. Very good. Dessert was apple pie, profiteroles and sorbet. The desserts were not too sweet. Pie and profiteroles was served with vanilla ice cream. Yum! The service was good but a bit slow, it was not very crowded at that time, at one point we were the only patrons. 3 stars for the ahi order and took a bit long in between courses. I don't leave reviews too often but I must say heirloom tavern deserves all the positive reviews. At first glance it may seem a bit stuffy but the environment quickly becomes romantic and inviting once you settle in. I got the duck quesadilla as an appetizer which was very tender and fresh. It was delicious. As my main I got the horseradish crusted salmon with mushroom risotto and kimchee zucchini. It was honestly a 10/10 meal and I do not say that often. The kimchee zucchini was incredible, the mushroom risotto was prepared perfectly and the salmon was fresh and cooked to perfection. The dish came out hot and steaming but still a great temperature to eat. My date got the French dip sandwich with the truffle fries and I tried the fries which were also fantastic. Fries are easily an overlooked side at most establishments but these fries definitely stand alone perfectly. The fries were well seasoned, crispy, fresh, definitely not frozen and the seasoning ea perfect and not too salty. My date complimented the French dip sandwich and said it was easily one of the best he's ever had. We shared the beignets for dessert which were fluffy and warm and the ice cream was also light and not overly sweet. Delicious. I tried the lychee sangria which was interesting in a good way and my date got the Scottish alp beer which was light and oaky and very pleasant. He also got the new old fashioned which is not my typical drink so I passed on that but he enjoyed it and mentioned it was very elevated and I got the espresso as well which was delicious. Made a reservation for Heirloom Sunday morning, and to my surprise, they didn't need my name or number. When we got to the restaurant, the almost deserted and empty town explained why. We felt very skeptical about the restaurant at first since we were the only customers there. However, service was friendly and welcoming during our entire meal. For the appetizer, we ordered the veal ravioli. Portion size was on the smaller side with only 3 raviolis. The presentation was nice though. The trio combination of the moist ground veal inside the ravioli pockets, rich and flavorful pesto sauce, and the appetizing tomato sauce all worked superbly well together. The entrees were bigger in size and I would say it was definitely worth the price. The Pan-Roasted Long Island Duck Breast was cooked to perfection at medium-rare. It was tender and flavorful. The addition of the grand marnier sauce really paired well with the duck and made it succulent. It also came with your choice of two sides, which was neat. The grilled asparagus was grilled well but the seasoning could have been distributed more evenly, and of course, the more truffle the better! The mushroom risotto was soft, creamy, but not too heavy either. The meal was really satisfying. I also tried a bite of my mom's Pan-Seared Red Snapper. It had a really nice crunchy crust and the flesh was tender. Definitely try this restaurant out, even if it seems like no one eats there! read more

Holy cow Batman! I luv luv luv this place! Everything every time awesome! Tonight my mom and I share Mahi Mahi and the Diver scallops they spilt the entrees and played them both as two mini entrees on two plates super duper looser good! Heirloom Tavern is my kind of place. Nice mix of tapas and traditional menu. My wife and I checked them out last saturday night. Popular place and the first open table reservation available was 9:45. We arrived at 9pm and were planning to sit at the bar for a drink but the hostess was able to seat us right away. Two's are a bit squeezed in this place but nothing like you'd experience at a hotspot in the East Village, just a bit more crowded in than you'd expect for a long island restaurant. Enough of my blathering, lets talk food. Small plates - they're not that small, for the prices, i expected far less quantity. Quality was impressive as well, fried mozz was a very nice homemade job, duck spring rolls the same. Salads - house salad and Caesar were both delicious, fresh and crisp with tasty homemade dressings. Would have gone with 5 stars but just felt that the service was a bit slow, it was about 45 min before our first small plate hit the table. I'm all for a "dining" experience but that was a bit long. I searched Yelp for a good restaurant and opted to have brunch here based on the positive reviews. It was early in the afternoon and the restaurant was deserted. We were the only patrons at the restaurant. We ordered the french toast and crab cakes eggs benedict. The toast was fluffy and crispy on the outside while the bread was so soft. There were dices of apples on top with raisins. There is also a side of bacon, sausages and home fries. This was definitely a good choice. Meanwhile the crab cakes were also delicious but slightly on the salty side. We ordered a lobster taco but was slightly disappointed there were only two piece of lobster. It was okay. Overall, the brunch experience was good slightly above average but not amazing. This review is 3.5 stars. read more

Quaint little place with great food and service. I am a big fan of this place after just one visit. We came here on a Monday evening and fortunately it was not crowded. We got a nice table in the back of the restaurant and were greeted quickly after being sat by our server. Once we got our drinks we ordered a couple of bar plates to start - duck spring rolls and the lobster taco. I enjoyed both dishes. Each had a good distinct flavor. I then took it one step further and got the Lobster bisque. Again, good flavor with nice chunks of lobster mixed in. For my entree I went with the Rib eye special and man oh man was that tasty! It was smothered with grilled onions and mushrooms with a side of garlic mashies. My wife got the branzino and she found that to be delicious as well. We finished it all off with someoii beignets topped with ice cream, which were good but would perhaps try something else next time. First during our delightful outdoor dinning in late summer I can honestly say I found nothing lacking. Great parking because the location is by a LIRR station. Walking around back was easy and I encumbered. The tables were separated by ample space. All wait staff never had their masks below their noses. The menu was ample for a liking and prices reasonable. The food presentation was fine. I had the swordfish which was grilled to my taste. Bar drinks had a nice selection. Go with the flourless chocolate cake one of the best we ever had.
