As a tea-lover, I applaud this, and I enjoy discussing tea culture with them. The owners run the shop in colder weather, when people forget they offer special hot drinks, and hot teas, caffè lattes, and Vietnamese coffee. In the hotter months, the staff expands. The decor is subtle, the music never interferes with thought or speech, good amount of outside light. The tea mocktails are some of my favorites, usually juices or purées with green tea, sometimes jasmine green. I'd love some Moroccan tea, made with gunpowder green tea and fresh spearmint (peppermint is too strong), but it's not from Asia. Drink sizes are 16 (hot and cold) or 24 (cold only) oz. There's teaware, full leaf teas found on the menu (we love ancient black at home for iced tea), baked mochi treats, and tea jellies. We bring our own tea tumblers, more rigid than the plastic cups they use. There are often tea "barista" classes on weekends before they open for customers, should you like to learn something more exotic. On weekends and Mondays, they open at noon, otherwise it's 11am.

I ended up ordering the 3 Guys, their signature milk tea with bubbles, pudding, and grass jelly. Hubby went with the Strawberry Candy Pop. The place is decently large with a good amount of seating. While we waited, we sat down and tried some of the buns we had just picked up a few stores down. Things got a little awkward when our drinks were ready. Hubby didn't grab the receipt from the kiosk, so when they called out a number, we weren't sure if it was ours. I told the employee what we had ordered, and he said it must be our order. However, when he mentioned it to the other person working there, who may have been the manager or owner, he seemed skeptical. I explained that we didn't get the receipt, but he grabbed the strawberry drink back, which felt a little odd, and then walked away to do something else. The 3 Guys drink itself was okay, and I do think their specials are a really good value. Unfortunately, the interaction at the end was a little off-putting and left us feeling uncomfortable. They have some good deals and an interesting drink selection, but based on this experience, I'm not sure we'd be back.

Honestly, my friends and I always preferred the quality of the milk teas at this location anywho. Fantasia looks exactly the same as I remember it from years ago. Clean, large menu, and lots of seating. I usually prefer the jasmine milk tea at Fantasia, but this time around I ordered their oolong milk tea. The staff was nice and my drink was ready right away. The lack of wait is probably because it was so empty inside. I encourage more people to go to Fantasia since they serve classic milk tea that always hits the spot!

Initially, the bright truck and painted characters caught my eye, and then I was a little taken aback at the $5+ for a drink with boba in it. Boba cravings took over, and I went with the oolong milk tea with boba. Price included tax, so a flat $5 was okay for convenience. I will say that it did take a while to get the boba, but I peered inside and saw that they were figuring things out and even had to hand-cut the tops of the seals for the cups. The boba itself tasted great on a warm San Jose day, and I had finished 2/3 of the cup before I got back to my desk. The milk tea was not powdery, although I'd probably prefer ice cubes over crushed ice, since the crushed ice melts faster making the tea more liquid-y, and can get up the straw, making trying to chew the boba have a crunch in the mouth... Overall, the convenience and taste won me over, and I'm sure they'll only improve once they're a bit more established.
