Been wanting to try the matcha here. It's located next to an apartment complex. There's barely any street parking. The map took me to de rome drive where I found limited street parking. It's behind the tea shop and apartment. The sign said there's retail parking though. I wanted to try the guava matcha. They had 2 types one with a guava cream top or guava puréed. Once you go in, you need to order at the kiosk like typical drink spots, and wait accordingly. When I went on a Wednesday morning, it was pretty empty, which might be great since it does have some tables to work from home and do homework! It is also bit on the quiet side, which is another pro. , The first time I went to Haiku, I did not enjoy the drink I got (which I do not remember what it was), but the second time I went, my friend and I ordered an Obsidian Hojicha latte and their Banana cream top hojicha, and it was amazing! Their hojichas have a very deep flavor profile that I have not experienced with other shops yet, and I would be interested to know what powders they have used. Though there is no street parking, there is a massive plaza nearby and a nearby parking structure that make accessing this spot pretty doable, even during busier times of day. I came here to study, and was lucky to find a table, as it is a very small space and the seating options are limited. I had a black sesame hojicha latte, and I also tried the black sesame latte (with espresso), both of which were strong on the black sesame flavor. I did find the hojicha in my latte a little weak, and the sweetness is really strong, even at 50%. I think ordering 0% or 25% sweetness would be best. That said, I did enjoy the drink. Today I got the Matcha Cookie Butter Cream Top and I was unfortunately displeased. I've came here twice before and enjoyed this drink so this is usually my go to when I come here. I hate to make this review but I was very unsatisfied with my matcha today. I got 100% sweet and with straus whole milk but my matcha came out tasting bitter and unpleasant. They are very inconsistent with making the matcha here, as my friend's matcha (he got 75% sweet with the lactose free milk) tasted sweeter and more delicious. Im very disappointed since I drove a pretty decent amount to get here :( and paid almost $9 dollars for my drink. My friend also tried my drink and said that there was a huge difference between the two. Im thinking either the labels on our drinks were switched or I had gotten very unlucky today with my drink. Strong tea flavor, with a slightly bitter aftertaste that Iron Goddess oolong in particular is known for. Not quite as floral as a jasmine milk tea from Molly tea, but I do prefer oolong if it's done right. Once we tasted how good this tea flavor was, we knew we can trust the other drinks here too. Hoping they'll have other oolong varieties in the future. Boba topping: so chewy and yummy. I usually don't get toppings unless it's good - and it's good here. Even in the fridge overnight, it didn't get hard like with other places. Corn Einspanner: I don't see corn drinks very often (only at Bopomofo in SoCal) so I just HAD to try it here! It's nice and air conditioned especially on a hot day when I went. They do offer Wi-Fi and it is a quiet space. When you walk in you order on their tablet, I got the Matcha Einspanner and they offer an option to add more Matcha to make it more strong. They give you options of three different milk alternatives and I chose oat milk. The house made cream top was really enjoyable and the Matcha had a very good flavor and it was not too sweet. Came here with a couple of co-workers during our lunch break since we had a training in San Jose looking for matcha drinks and happened to see this one fairly close to our location. Parking was relatively easy since there's a large parking garage directly next to the shop so it was an easy walk. I wanted to try the Matcha Pistachio Cream Top with boba since the menu said it was a seasonal drink for $8. Drink was great and had the right amount of matcha, although once we were driving out, I realized the boba was completely missing. The label even said to include boba. The Obsidian Hojicha which comes from Kagoshima, Japan has the most gorgeous dark brown color. Upon tasting, one would note a strong chocolate flavor, and a roasted profile as well. Their Boba was soft and flavored with poison oak honey. Don't be afraid of the name. It's just a marketing gimmick ;) the taste is really good and not too sweet as the traditional honey. Although I have a disclaimer. I get my Boba drinks nowadays with 10% or no sweetener at all. I like the clean bathroom too. What can I say? I look at those things now.
