Came here for the first time to try their Pistachio Strawberry Milk drink. I love that they use lactaid milk, so it's friendly for lactose intolerant people like me . My family and I visited Feng Cha in Milpitas around 1:15 p.m. today Aug 2nd, with our two young kids and my elderly dad. My husband and I ordered two dirty drinks the milk tea & the Thai, and we got our girls the Mango Fantasy. Unfortunately, as we were leaving, both of our daughters tried it and immediately said they didn't like it. Since the drink was over $7, my husband went right back inside to see if there was any way we could exchange it for something else so the kids would enjoy their drink (they just had a sip). The response was an immediate "there's nothing I can do." No empathy, no attempt to help, and no consideration that we were simply trying to get a drink our kids would actually enjoy. It felt like the only option was, "Just buy another one." I've worked in customer service for years, and I know that sometimes it's not about the cost of replacing a drink. It's about making your customers feel valued. A simple gesture of goodwill could have turned the entire experience around. Instead, we left feeling like our business didn't matter. Looking back, there were already a few things that stood out before this happened. When we walked in, I even asked my husband if we had been greeted because the customer after us received a warm "Welcome in!" We honestly couldn't tell if we had been acknowledged at all. The shop was very quiet with only a couple inside and us. There wasn't even any music playing, it was just pure quiet, which made the atmosphere feel a little awkward and uninviting. While we were ordering at the kiosk, I also noticed the employee on her phone. I completely understand working alone, but since it wasn't busy, it would've been nice to see some customer interaction--offering recommendations, checking in, or simply being more engaged instead of looking occupied by a phone. The most disappointing part is that we even left a tip, despite ordering ourselves through the kiosk and having very little interaction. We believe in tipping and supporting service workers, but it's frustrating when the service afterward leaves you feeling like you didn't matter. At the end of the day, this wasn't really about a $7 drink. It was about the experience. My girls were excited to try something new, and it ended up being a wasted purchase with no willingness to help make it right. Decent work spot but could be improved on the drinks front. This place has a really nice interior that has a decent amount of space to work. Free WiFi and outlets against the wall. The drinks are really hit or miss. The cookies and cream milk tea was decent. The lychee oolong and four seasons milk tea didn't quite have the tea flavor I would expect for a tea drink and also didn't have a strong taste either. Strawberry milk with real strawberry puree was delicious! They said they use lactose-friendly milk. Based on my experience I don't think it was completely lactose-free but less than regular milk. It was boba Tuesday so I decided to utilize my rewards and ordered on the app. The process was very easy. I pressed on order and it went through. What I wish the app would do is accept Apple Pay as a form of payment, but that's nitpicking. It said 10 minutes it would be ready and well it took me roughly 10 minutes and it was ready when I arrived which is nice. Feng Cha is one of the few boba places that serve food and drinks. It's nice to snack on something when I'm here for awhile. Feng Cha isn't my go-to place for boba but it's sometimes a prime location for kpop cupsleeve events which I will attend here and there. I used to really like their fruit teas but lately drinks haven't been hitting. I think I underestimate their base sweetness level so it ends up tasting a lot bitter than I'm used to at 25% sweetness. I also set my drinks at regular ice because I'm a slow sipper and I dislike it when my drinks get lukewarm fast, however, they been skimping on ice. My friend agreed with me on this too. I know some people prefer less ice to drink ratio but I need my drink to be cold throughout. Garlic fries were pretty decent. Not much garlic flavor but the battered fries are absolute my favorite since they become extra crispy. They give a good portion for the price as well. It was a hairy situation, not once but twice in my onion rings! I was shocked, as I was chowing down yesterday on my fried yummy goodness. They so graciously replaced my food, then as I was eating them again I found another hair. By this time I was disgusted, but still wanted onion rings. So I went a third time and said, "Listen this is pretty fucking gross, would you want to eat this, I know it's personally not your fault, but the person preparing my food back there, needs to be wearing a hairnet or a hat, so this doesn't happen."
