The mover left tons of stuff behind. These 4 bottles are worth a hundred dollars and they left the water cooler itself behind as well as my clothes, computer pad and mouse, wall pictures. The movers also broke the monito I've spent more to move a living room and kitchen than Xxxx spent to move a larger house; and in response to damage (so far; they also broke 4 bookshelves because they tried to move them with the books inside) you didn't offer an apology. A helping hand in deed. Thank you Chris! I was moving from one unit in an apartment complex to the another unit 50 feet in the same complex. I only needed/wanted my a handful of stuff moved because it was on a second story. I called 13 different moving companies and they all told me they would not do anything less than 3 hours at the set price of around $200+/per hour. I could not justify $600+ for moving 50 feet. I explained my situation to all of them and no one wanted to listen, except for Chris. I am truly grateful for the compassion and understanding towards my situation. Him and his crew came, all wearing masks and social distancing with my wife and I. We were able to move quite a bit in the time frame and they were very professional and took care of our possessions with care. They waited and didn't even give me a 24 hour notice and told me they had a bigger job and it disregarding my job. I had Chris, Eric, and Jessie for my move. Had a pod of 7x7 into a 5x10 storage. They did the move in about 1.5 hours or less. Chris was very kind and understanding since my pod delivery time was 'estimated'. I just kept updating Chris about the status and he was very nice about it. They did not bring just the muscle - but also had common sense in regards to where to put the items and what not. They are a great team! I just told them where I wanted to put the items. I had to rearrange a few items - but they were very understanding and helped me rearrange several times! I highly recommend them as your movers. I haven't moved in a long time, and forgot about how difficult it is calculating moving costs with all the additional fees most companies have-but not this one! They gave me a flat rate so it was easy to calculate. All the men were very respectful with my belongings and everything got home safely. I am embarrassed that I waited so long to post this review. Yelp won't let me give this moving company more than five stars, but they truly deserve ten! We moved from a house to an apartment a year ago, and Chris and crew were so professional, friendly, fast, and extremely careful with our belongings. They made multiple trips, carried boxes up a flight of stairs, put my furniture exactly where I wanted it (and even moved it around a couple of times!), put my beds together, hauled off unwanted items, and cleaned up the yard of debris. So you know how some people go onto craigslist's "casual encounters" looking for someone who looks like Angelina Jolie and end up getting someone who looks like Sandra Bernhard? Yeah, well... that happened to me while looking for movers in the "services" section. I found Chris (562-252-5852) and Eric (562-343-0014) on craigslist while looking for movers to help my husband and I move into our new apartment. They sounded really nice and professional, plus they named their truck "Wilma" which seemed like a sweet touch. We exchanged a few e-mails, agreed on a rate, and I agreed to rent a U-Haul since "Wilma" had an accident and couldn't make it. The last e-mail I sent them looked like this: "You are very welcome Eric, thanks to you and Chris for helping us out! See you two at 10am on Thursday morning, I'll have a lot of waters ready for you guys and am happy to provide coffee as well if you'd like :) If you have a utility dolly or anything that would be awesome! :D Let me know what equipment you'd suggest I should rent from UHaul if anything, thanks again! Take care, Ivy" All I wanted them to do was help me move stuff into the U-Haul. At 10am on Tuesday morning I waited... and waited... and waited. I called... and called... and called. At noon they finally called back. Hung over. Apparently they'd partied too hard the night before but could totally leave now and would be there in two or three hours, would that be okay? Um, no. I'm sorry Chris and Eric. You may have sounded like nice guys and I'm sure your truck Wilma is very cute, but I expected two movers at 10am to help me move my crap into a U-Haul and I can't wait around 5+ hours for you as you try and sober up. My husband and I ended up moving everything ourselves. Fun. From our experience, Chris and Eric of Helping Hands Move were totally unprofessional and unreliable. Don't make a commitment unless you can keep it guys, it's just bad business. UPDATE 7/22/2010: Since I posted this review, I've been contacted by Chris (who was professional in his demeanor) and Eric (who was verbally abusive, threatening and threw a verbal tantrum via yelp private messaging under the fake name "Robert C." but signed it "Eric" - really bright, buddy) separately. WARNING: Eric appears extremely emotionally unstable, especially given his language in his message to me. If you are concerned about what he wrote please send me a message; I don't feel comfortable posting it here. Since I wrote my original review, it appears there have been several other reviewers who have noted the tendency for Helping Hands Moving and Hauling to be late for their scheduled appointments. Eric, I suggest you take this as helpful feedback and use it to improve yourself and your responsibility to whatever poor customers may hire you instead of raging about and privately attacking and harrassing a customer who you screwed over.
