As I continue to search DC for some decent fried chicken I stumbled upon this place. With a name like Hen Quarter I thought this was a sure bet. Saw decent reviews so I ordered 12 piece chicken with greens a biscuits. The biscuits were delicious, the greens were good but, the chicken was the driest and flavorless chicken I have ever had no salt, no pepper or no seasoning. My guests complained and started to name better places to buy fried chicken. Most of the pieces were old and refried. I'll continue my search. This place was not it. But I would come back for the biscuits with honey dripping on it if they offered it as a side dish. read more

Very nice ambiance, friendly staff and the waiters provide good recommendations. We had specialty items for a special event, so I can't speak on the standard menu. Gauging from the steak and seafood options we had, they prepare food well with a good seasoned palette. Vallet parking available and there's a garage close by. This place was amazing! Came here for DC restaurant drink. Got there super early so I sat at the bar. The bartender was so nice and made some great espresso martinis. I dined at Hen Quarter Prime on its opening night. I ordered the Brussels Sprouts, Shrimp and Grits, Cheesecake, and a Peach Lemon Drop. The shrimp and grits were flavorful! Unfortunately, the entree and dessert took a long time to arrive, but my server was very apologetic. This might have been partly due to it being the first night. The restaurant offers metered street parking nearby, and there's a nice outdoor patio overlooking the water, though I chose to dine indoors due to the humidity. The interior is beautifully decorated and spacious, and I had the chance to tour some of the dedicated event space, which can accommodate up to 80 guests. The staff was hospitable. We came to the Hen Quarter Prime to try out their bottomless brunch. We decided to uber to this location because it is 1 mile from the metro and currently way too cold to walk, and we were unsure about parking in the area. The street is small and not much street parking, I also didn't see any garages nearby, so definitely keep this in mind if choosing to drive. They have a very large outdoor patio seating area overlooking the water that would be great to sit at during the warmer months. Once we were inside we were seated rather quickly and immediately served water. If you opt to do the bottomless drinks, you can rotate between the various options of mimosas, old fashioned, or wine. I love that they leave a full bottle of champagne with you for the mimosas so you don't have to wait around for a refill. The brunch itself is buffet style, except the omelets which that you place an order with your server. Some food items were better than others for example the waffles, prime rib, raw bar, deviled eggs, jambalaya, grits, and made to order omelet were all great. The fried chicken was over fried so a bit hard, and the Mac and cheese was a little runny so I knocked off a star for this. It is a bit pricey when compared to others in DC that offer a larger and wider food selection, but since they have only been open for a few months I would try the brunch again. This place has been alll the rave amongst social media influencers in the DMV. I was looking forward to this experience, especially with the high price tag. Other than 'unlimited' crab legs, I found myself a little confused about what made this brunch spread different from all the others. Shrimp/ grits, waffle station, Mac cheese ...very standard. So while the experience wasn't bad, it was standard dc brunch with nothing particular that stood out or memorable. I was here for a private bday party in the back room-- the room was spacious and worked out perfect for the birthday girl. Our server did her best managing the request of so many guest. read more

I had dinner last night with my cousin, who was visiting from New Orleans and craving good Southern cuisine. I figured this new spot would be worth a try, and overall, it didn't disappoint! The ambience is absolutely gorgeous. We went for dinner, but I can only imagine how stunning it must be during the day with the waterfront view. It's a great setting for catching up with family and friends. The food was really good and definitely reminded me of home. We started with oysters, corn, cornbread, and deviled eggs--all delicious. I also tried a pickled martini for the first time; while it wasn't my favorite, it was still an interesting experience. For dinner, we had the catfish and grits, chicken and waffles, and the hanger steak with fries. Everything was well-seasoned and flavorful. The service was solid--friendly and attentive. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that while everything was good, nothing completely blew me away. Once upon a time, there was a clothing store in Northern Virginia named SYM'S. My old school DMV folks will know what I'm talking about..LOL! Their slogan was super catchy and super profound "An educated Consumer is our best Customer" The opposite might be true in this case with Hen Quarter Prime. I literally fell for the banana in the tailpipe. After viewing their IG reel proclaiming to be the next best brunch spot in DC, I went to educate myself on their website. The unlimited brunch menu was extensive and it clearly included unlimited mimosas and Old Fashion's for $70. I thought that was pretty good, considering crab legs were on the menu. Once we were seated and viewed the menu which looked identical to the one on their website, there was one BIG difference. The in store menu had a $29 per person for the unlimited drink option, making our brunch $100 each before tax and tip. Once I brought the deception/discrepancy up to our server, you can tell he had heard this a time or two and quickly asked did we want to speak to a manager.. we declined and just told him to let management know what the deal is! Again, because I'm an educated consumer, the best brunch in the city in my opinion is Sequoia in Georgetown, which includes everything that Hen Quarter Prime has to offer and much more for $90 (With Mimosas and Bellinis). That said, the food was good, definitely above average especially the waffles! Moving right along, you're almost forced to valet because parking is scarce but luckily we were able to find street parking....timing is everything! There is a garage on the side where (The Point) is located but on Sundays something is telling me they have it restricted for regular use because the attendant told us it was full..hmmmmm. Hen Quarter Prime is a beautiful restaurant with a very nice sized outdoor dining area. We concluded it's really not set up for a brunch buffet because it's a little space where you will bump into somebody if you're not extra careful. I will give Hen Quarter Prime another shot for dinner just to see if my opinion changes because I'm a foodie and love new DC spots I just don't like being deceived :( read more

I came here for the first time yesterday and the restaurant was just Beautiful. We asked the manager i believe her name was Ana if there was Happy Hour and i let her know that this was my first time there, she showed so much great service and there was a Dj present as well foe a wonderful evening after work. After we were seated our Server Brian was the best the Peach Lemon Drop was the best! Brian was very patient with us and knowledgeable in regards to the whole menu! An absolute disappointment! This brunch was on par with the Hampton Inn or any other basic hotel weekend spread. I was duped by an IG post that made this place look like a superior spot for a fun and lavish Sunday Brunch. Nope! Completely underwhelmed. Arrived 30 minutes after opening and the place was empty - so naturally we were seated as far from the water views as possible on a makeshift rickety "table" with no view. How about the food? Well, a hotel waffle iron was the perk, along with an ice sculpture... axe the sculpture and maybe knock down your outrageous prices. Cap that off with some greasy limp bacon and crappy oysters and tiny crab legs and you've got yourself a $200 bill. Being seated at the one of the worst tables in a nearly empty restaurant after an incredibly awful week when all I was looking forward to was a nice brunch, so shout out to the hostess on Sunday June 8th - she was a cherry on top to a terrible week. This brunch is lacking $70 in flavor and quality and I am no stranger to extravagant buffet brunches. You are paying for the location. The chicken and waffles and crab were the best but honesly didn't even stay for any of the dessert. Recently visited Hen Quarter Prime for a friend's Birthday. We were seated in a private room, which housed around 15 guests. The service was great, from start to finish, all servers were very attentive. The Ambiance was nice, and comfortable for the guests. There were some favorites with a few of the appetizers and some not so great. I had to try the chicken, as it seems this may be their specialty? Service was good. The ambiance was fantastic, the restaurant was beautiful - right on the water. Another plus,valet parking, although not cheap. We went for the Saturday brunch. The food was wonderful. Mostly regular brunch fare with a Southern AND seafood focus. Unlike some seafood buffets, the seafood selection was plentiful and pretty tasty. There was the standard carving station - another love of mine. Omelets, eggs, French toast, and I believe pancakes were made to order from your table and brought out by your waitress. That was nice. My only criticism is that some of the dishes were a little too salty for my taste, and the dessert table could have had a better selection. But then again, I stuffed myself with macarons, which I LOVE! Maybe I just missed the other desserts... I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Hen Quarter Prime! I came here on a Sunday for their brunch and it really was a 10/10 experience. When my husband and I walked in we were immediately greeted. Literally immediately. Right after, I informed the front desk staff that we had a reservation and we were seated with no wait time. Our waitress then came up to us right after we got settled and got us started on our amazing brunch experience. The restaurant itself is VERY cute! Definitely the perfect place for a date night or a girls brunch! The food itself was actually really good. I did find the prime rib to be a little salty, and the bacon to be soggy - but other than that I really enjoyed everything. The waffle was amazing, the fried chicken was great, my omelette was STUFFED with topping and made the order, and the French toast was good! My husband really enjoyed the raw bar and kept going back for more and more oysters. I'll start by saying 10 out of 10 definitely recommend! I love a good Sunday brunch and as I've gotten older what I look for in that has changed as well. I was once someone who would frequent the likes of Park on 14th or Focus for brunch but now as a wife and mother I was looking for something that still had a Sunday funday feel but a more mature crowd and this hit all the checks. Ashley our server was the best ! She was friendly , personable and made sure you felt welcomed. Now let's get into the food . Everything was yummy! The grits had a smoked Gouda cheese in them which was great the waffle was light and fluffy and the chicken had a nice crunch ( my goodness I'm getting hungry again going this lol ) overall I can't wait to come back and I even want to try the crab legs special on Fridays! Have you stayed in a 5-star hotel over seas? If you have then you've likely had brunch at Hen Quarter Prime. It was good, don't get me wrong, but unless you're willing to spend at least 200$ on your meal, this ain't the place for you. Service was good considering you get the food yourself. IMO it took a little too long to get my mimosa to my table, if I'm paying 29$ for bottomless, that should be ready to go. I would not come back to this place unless the dropped the prices significantly. I can go to much better food and drink places in NOVA for at least 100$ cheaper. TLDR- don't come here unless you want to pay at least 200$ for brunch that would be better somewhere else. read more

What an amazing Sunday Brunch at Hen Quarter. My sister selected Hen Quarter for a pre-birthday brunch celebration and we all had a great time. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the manager and one of the hostesses and both ladies were lovely. Our reservation was honored on time and we were seated at a nice table. Soon after, our waitress came over to say hello and share details about the brunch experience. We were excited, grabbed our plates and were ready for the feast. What I loved about the buffet was how smooth it was. No long lines, overcrowding or confusion. The brunch set-up was nice, spacious and food was replenished quickly. The staff were also very kind and nice. Everyone was helpful and wanted you to be taken good care of. I'm a huge fan of good hospitality. Our favorites included the Belgium waffles, collard greens, fried chicken, Mac & Cheese, home fries and chicken sausage. To be honest with you, everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. Our drinks were also on point. The entire experience was wonderful. A few tips: Make a reservation; Valet/Street and Garage Parking is available and Rideshare is also an option.
