The 2 stars are for the workers. I walked into this place hoping to foster, field trip foster, or maybe even adopt a dog in the near future. First walked in.... Weird looks my way by workers. No hello. No good afternoon. No "How can we be of help"?. NOTHING. I do look normal by the way so not sure why the "stares". Im hoping it is just "ME" and not everyone is treated this way. Toured parts of the facility where the dogs are kept, still no help or guidance. Found my way around alone. I have been to several animal shelters and NEVER have i experienced such a cold UNwelcoming. By the way...: no one was BUSY - i would totally understand and not be griping right now. I am from Hawaii and have opened my home to MANY puppy litters & newborn puppies that needed extra care and bottle feeding. I absolutely adore dogs. I came to this organization in hopes of contributing and helping out in anyway that i could. Im not sure what was the problem this day but MAYBE i'll give it another try after i get over this visit - i'll do it for the DOGS.

I adopted 2 kittens 9/25/24. One was very lethargic. I took him to the vet. After $748 I was told he might never get better. I had to give him meds daily. They gave him amoxicillin and pain shots Five days later the vet called. She recommended to take her to the shelter. That was Monday 10/7. I had to surrender her back to them. I asked if they could notify me when she was better. That would be 2-3 weeks. So I could adopt her again. Well I just saw they adopted her out. Has only been 6 days. I am upset The vet said the two viruses she had she got in the shelter!

We have a LARGE Male Cat 16#. Very sweet and loving, BUT he will just not leave his smaller sister cat alone. We are seniors and it breaks our hearts to give him up. But we cannot handle him any more. This is him as a kitten. LOOKING for a GREAT HOME for him. Any ideas are appreciated. We live in SCA Anthem. LV

I visited the animal shelter, hoping to look around and see the animals, especially since I heard there are many in need of adoption. My kids love animals, and while we weren't planning to adopt, we wanted to spend some time playing with them. Unfortunately, the staff informed us that this wouldn't be helpful and would waste their time. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I also noticed others on Yelp have mentioned the disapproval of the staff not acting kind so I know I'm not the only one who's encountered behavior from them like this. I feel they could be more proactively kind and professional in the future.

The sole survivor that they wanted to euthanize. They killed her entire litter. She looks dangerous.

Killers. They just euthanized 5 animals who could have been saved. 5 who could have had long, loving, rich and fulfilling lives. Because they couldn't be bothered to make a phone call. They couldn't be bothered to take notes from an actual rescue. 30 seconds to save 5 lives, but no. How tedious? Lazy. Shame on you. Worthless "animal caregiver" murderers for profit.

Got my two sweet adopted cats from here. The front desk staff and caretakers were great throughout the whole process. We went back to where the cats were (the place is split between the dogs and cats) which they called the "Cattery" and met the cats there. They seemed well take care of, and we were able to meet the cats in the "cat meeting room" which had some cardboard scratchers and shelves for them to climb and run on. The caretaker that was bringing the cats back to the meeting room for us to meet them was so helpful- she even gave us advice on adopting two cats at once and how to slowly get them acquainted with each other and how to get them used to the house- as new cat owners, the advice was extremely helpful for us. Including paper work, the process of adopting them didn't take long, maybe an hour. The shelter also provided top loading cardboard carriers to bring them home in, which proved useful for their first trip to the vet, since they were NOT having it with the front load carriers... Cats were both spayed, chipped, and had their vaccinations. Happy to give them a forever home, and thankful for the shelter for finding them and having taken good care of them.

There were only a few cats which was incredible, because so often they are full. The dogs, though, broke my heart. Their cages are clean and the animals were all healthy, just sad and lonely. We went to kennel after kennel and it was just heartbreaking to see so many sweet, beautiful, adorable, and needy dogs. It makes me want to beg all of Las Vegas to please go and adopt a sweet new dog, but I know that not everyone wants a dog or can have them for whatever reason. We don't even have dogs, but we do both love them. I just hope that the people who can adopt dogs will go to the animal foundation and help give an animal a forever home.

I've tried numerous times to inquire about a posted pet and by the time I get a response- either it was adopted or an organization came and took the pet. It would be nice to know before I go all the way to north Las Vegas what the availability is. I would hate to go there and it pet is adopted. I've also dropped off strays I've found here like 3x. It's such a loooooonnnggg tedious process! Like they make you wait so long for thier intake. I had at one point had to get staff to help us asap when 2 of the dogs didn't want to go in! It took forever! I'm just disappointed in this place. They are suppose to help these pets but they are so disorganized and they have become one of the biggest high kill organizations here in Vegas. How sad!

I was told on 23 NOV 2021 by the foster mom "I sent all your texts to the operator of the rescue I foster for and she's very happy with everything your doing to ensure Avalanche's arrival. Her only concern is if for whatever reason it doesn't work out and we have to come get him your all the way in Georgia and not that we're saying it won't work we just have to think of every possible scenario for Avalanche's safety is all. But you seem sincere and I've been talking to her about it." I then told the foster mom I would sign whatever needed that would require me to return him to Nevada. The foster mom and I then messaged everyday. I got all the things he would need and want. I got the food he was on, his favorite treats, toys, brush, leashes, collar, harness, toothbrush, shampoo, seat belt for his harness, bed, crate etc. I scheduled a vet appointment and two daycare evaluations locally as well as to meet with a professional trainer. Then on 06 DEC I was emailed that I cannot adopt him as I live out of state and that's their policy. This was the first I was told that policy. I've since offered to fly out there (I was going to have a rescue group transport him for me which I filled out all that paperwork) and rent a car and drive back myself (2,000 miles). I offered to do a FaceTime and have any other person they trusted that was local (from another rescue organization) to see my home as they require a home inspection. Now they are messaging me telling me "Please reach out to those rescues who will make exceptions. We will not make the exception. Thank you. We will no longer entertain ANY messages or emails from you as we have been clear on our end". I feel betrayed as I couldn't sleep the night they told me. I kept looking at everything I had ready for him and crying. I thought rescuing an animal was the right thing to do and instead I'm left with a broken heart. It's not okay what they did to me.

After I set an appointment, I received an email with instructions ands tips on how to prepare your pet before and on the day of the appointment. As a first time pet parent, I truly appreciatted that! From the moment we walked in to the time we picked up Oreo after her procedure, every single person we encountered was super kind! I had a million and one questions being that Oreo is my first pet and I was nervous about how the procedure will go. They answered every single question I had, explained everything thoroughly with patience and even asked if I had any more questions! While waiting in the lobby, we chatted with a family who was bringing in their 3rd pet and they let us know how great Heaven can wait is. We couldnt agree more! They do not overcharge (paid $230 for spay and microchip) and dont sell you things you dont need! I asked about a cone for Oreo and they explained why we may not necessarily need it! Being a non-profit, I thought maybe they try to get as much money as they can, but nope. I was expecting Oreo to be lethargic for like 3 days but she was back to her happy self like the 2nd day! I dont see a big scar on her belly like Ive seen in other dogs either. This is the place to bring your beloved pets if you want top notch care for a reasonable price.
