You can see her sitting right next to my sister who adopted her
    Kim M.

Hi older sister lost her cat to kidney issues. Her cat was 17 years old. She was truly devastated and said she did not want to get another pet that will out last her because she is in her 70s. She decided that if she did get a cat, she wanted it to be a senior cat at least nine or 10 years old and she wanted a black cat. I checked a few rescue places and came up upon homeward bound cat rescue. We went clear across town to visit and we're really happy that we did. We spent some time visiting with one of their senior cats. I don't know how someone passed her up. She is very friendly. She did hiss a couple of times at homeward bound, but I think it was because she was afraid and didn't know us ...but you could tell that she had a good demeanor as she started to warm up after we spent a good 45 minutrs or more there with her. She came and sat right next to my sister. She actually then crawled up onto my lap. We knew that she had picked us as her new humans. She will come when you call her name and she has litter box trained. She will also come give you a little head but to tell you, she loves you. She is friendly with me and my husband. The intake form said she was a little nervous with other people coming into the house, but we've had several people interact with her now and she's never had that issue. I don't think it was a cat issue. I think it was the people issue. We're really happy we found homeward bound cat rescue. The facility is very clean. They do have quite a few cats. They have their own rooms and some of them have a couple of cats together so that they have a friend or they're bonding, but I love the fact that they weren't all sitting in cages having such high stress like you see at some of the adoptions at the pet stores or PetSmart, etc. It is truly a wonderful place and the ladies there are exceptional. The intake form was really not that long. I don't know what other people on the reviews are saying that it was a difficult process, but I would hope that they would be selective and talk to each person and get some information and have you sign adoption papers so they're doing everything the right way. Even If you don't need a cat at this time, at least go to their website and make a donation.

Homeward Bound is a wonderful, well-run place with a genial and helpful staff where I found my new friend, Kali. On their website, they post clear pictures of the cats so you can get an idea of which ones you'd be interested in before you visit. The cats are in rooms instead of cages, so you can visit with them for a while, and this extra level of care ensures they are more relaxed than if they were caged. Kittens are also available. The reasonable donations they ask for help to cover some of the costs to take care of them.

I am very disappointed in myself for just now remembering to write a review for Homeward Bound, truly I cannot say enough about this shelter wonderful place with amazing people working and volunteering for it. My spouse and I were in there what feels like a lifetime ago but was probably September of 2024 to adopt our now cat B.B. (formally known as Gordita at Homeward Bound). While I would love to gush about what an amazing cat she is and how just pampered, spoiled, and loved she is in this home the review is for the shelter not for B.B. so I will settle with posting a couple pictures of one of their cutest alum. Homeward Bound is an amazing shelter and they are doing amazing work, from the moment we stepped foot into the door you could tell how much the staff and volunteers truly love and care for the animals that pass through there. What I like most about the shelter is that they have open area rooms where they house the cats, with the exception of the kittens due to quarantining until they are able to receive their adult vaccines, rather than the single cubby that most shelters use. Besides being good for the cats as it allows them to socialize, exercise, climb, perch, and move around it keeps them socialized to humans and allows people to meet them in a much more relaxed way. Shelters are high stress environments for all animals but especially for cats and from experience the cat adopts the human as much as we adopt them. Allowing them to be in as natural and comfortable environment as possible allows you to meet them on their terms and get a more realistic idea of their personality than meeting them one on one in a small cube. The rooms are all well furnished with hides and climbs, they are clean, the animals are all well cared for, and it really makes for a very special moment meeting your new family member. The staff and volunteers are all so kind here and clearly have a shared love for felines, they were very patient and helpful with allowing me the time to find the cat that was meant for us. I am terrible with decision making and probably asked some odd questions and kept changing which cat was mine for far to long but they were always very kind and understanding. The adoption process itself was seamless, they gave the history they had on B.B. and was provided all of the records needed for her vet and a vaccine record. The adoption fee (at the time $100.00 for an adult and $150.00 for a kitten) was very reasonable and lower than many of the county shelters. I really cannot understate how much I appreciate the work this company does and truly cannot think of anything negative to say. The one drawback of the shelter is as beautiful as it is on the inside the outside if very understated and located in a mostly abandoned shopping center. Unless you know where you are going it is unlikely you would notice it from foot traffic which is unfortunate because this is probably the best cat adoption shelter in the city. Truly Las Vegas is lucky to have such an amazing organization to help the kitties who need a new home.

Such an amazing shelter! I adopted my sweet girl Bella here and the employees were very nice, answered all of my questions, and made the adoption process very smooth. The cats also seem very well taken care of, as they live in large rooms with each other rather than small crates. The shelter also provided me with all of her vet records, medication, and even some free items to take home with me! Great experience.

Me & my boyfriend we're looking all day to adopt a new kitten. We went to homeward bound and left with one after 30 minutes or so! The staff was super friendly and helpful answering all of my questions. I was concerned about adding a new kitten while already having an older cat and the staff was very reassuring with the way they took my concerns seriously. The kitten we got was already litter box trained, had all of her shots, and was spayed which was a great relief. We got to leave with a bunch of free new goodies for both cats and I couldn't be happier. I would adopt from here again and would suggest everyone does too. All of the cats were very well looked after.

Over the holiday weekend I knew I wanted to come here and to the animal foundation, I went there first - they don't let you meet any young kittens, but I adopted two while they were getting their lady surgery. While I waited for them to recover, I came here and I was amazed at how happy all the cats were! ALL OF THEM! They had a hallway of spacious rooms with about 4-5 cats in each room- they had toys and stuff to climb on and all that a cat could want. It was VERY clean also! I went to the kitten room and there were three kittens - 2 sisters and a brother. I got two - a sister and her brother, they were so precious! (Still are!) I dropped them off at home to my boyfriend and went to the AF to get the other two. The first photo shows the bro and sis (still trying to get the perfect names for them) and the second shows day two of all four in one big kitten pile! They are a happy family already! So much purring and grooming and playing! Thank you so much for our babies!

Leona just patiently answered so many of our meow related questions and I am so excited about heading over to the website and signing up to volunteer. Cat lovers unite!

We heard about Homeward Bound from Fox 5 news when one of their anchors adopted their cats from there. Having recently lost our 19 year old kitty, we had expensive prescription diet left over, and hoped Homeward Bound could use it (which they did need it). After stopping in that time, we decided that when we were ready to adopt again this was the place to go. Having followed their website, we saw an 8 month old kitten we wanted to meet. As we have other pets in the house, this would not have worked out unfortunately, but we DID come home with two 2-month-olds and have not regretted it. This wonderful organization does everything it can to help both cats and kittens find their furr-ever homes. We will continue to do what we can to support this fantastic organization.

In October last year we came home with two tuxedo cats from the same litter and couldn't be happier! They let us go from room to room to meet all the cats and make sure we were making the right decision. Once the decision was made, they made sure we knew everything we needed to continue medication etc so we felt prepared to take it from there. We're a happy pack and we know where to direct anyone else looking to rescue.

This is my Zazu. I met him while volunteering at Homeward Bound Cat Addoptions. I just couldn't resist his worried looking eyes! He is such

There were only a few cats which was incredible, because so often they are full. The dogs, though, broke my heart. Their cages are clean and the animals were all healthy, just sad and lonely. We went to kennel after kennel and it was just heartbreaking to see so many sweet, beautiful, adorable, and needy dogs. It makes me want to beg all of Las Vegas to please go and adopt a sweet new dog, but I know that not everyone wants a dog or can have them for whatever reason. We don't even have dogs, but we do both love them. I just hope that the people who can adopt dogs will go to the animal foundation and help give an animal a forever home.
