This business is not closed. Ross Henderson was at our house last night giving us an estimate on cabinet refacing. Seemed like a good guy.

They are definitely from the old school of doing things, which is one of the reasons I decided to have Grateful Floors redo our hard woods, because they don't cut corners! They are also about one of the only floor refinishers, in our area, that don't push the water based coatings like every other contractor, and instead prefer to use the original Swedish floor finishing products since they are more durable and outlast anything else on the market today. However, they also will use water based coatings when requested. Swedish floor finishing is more time consuming, labor intensive, and requires a three day process to apply, but the results are absolutely worth it if you don't want to redo your hardwoods every five years or less. Anytime you have your floors refinished it's a major inconvenience, but Dave and Ron were very careful to properly prepare our home for the refinishing process, including masking off areas of the house for dust and informing us of each step of the process as well as what time they would show up for work etc. They were always prompt, and true to their work with a high degree of attention to detail. I would highly recommend Grateful Floors to anyone looking to have their floors refinished both for the finished product as well as their costs which was very reasonable as well.

We experienced poor communication from the start. We had to initiate timing, scheduling, process, etc information. If I were not experienced with remodeling and project management I wonder how we would have known anything. Just as an example, Brad actually called us 2 days before the project was to start to tell us they wanted to start a day early. All the planning that went into preparing our home (emptying all bedrooms and closets and moving out of our house) needed to shift. Ha. Fortunately, he had actually already asked us a couple weeks earlier-he had forgotten! Communication did not improve. Then there was the mess they left. Our driveway was badly stained, trash was left in our yard, and handprints from floor-stain hands were left everywhere. When we brought this to Brad's attention (supported by photos) and asked what was spilled so we would know how to clean it up, he deflected and was insulting to us. Denying and then trying to blame it on other contractors (there were not any), our landscapers (not) and was combative. We scrubbed the stain ourself and paid for a professional pressure wash of driveway, yet the stains remain. We finally got tired of Brad, paid the second half of bill ($11K) and washed our hands of them.

Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that their white grout can have a tendency to turn yellow over time. I also later learned that many professional tile installers refuse to use Laticrete white epoxy grout because of this issue. Because epoxy grout cures as hard as cement, the problem was extremely difficult to fix. To make matters worse, the contractor who originally installed it refused to fix the problem. I spoke with several professionals and was told that the only options were either to remove and replace all of the tile or use a grinder to remove the yellowed grout, which could chip and damage the marble. After doing extensive research, including using ChatGPT, Sir Grout was recommended as the best company for the job. There was only one person at Sir Grout who had both the experience to remove Laticrete epoxy grout and the willingness to take on such a challenging project. His name is David, and he is awesome. Not a single tile was damaged during the process, and he used a different manufacturer's white grout that will not turn yellow. Sir Grout also provides a one-year written guarantee on the grout work. In addition, the white tile itself had begun to show yellow staining, and Sir Grout was able to remove almost all of those stains as well. Needless to say, I will be using Sir Grout enthusiastically for any and all future projects involving tile or grout. "$8,844.00 is paid to Sir Grout Seattle, LLC.
