This was a worst-case scenario. The installation used very expensive white marble from Ann Sacks with white epoxy grout from a company called Laticrete. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that their white grout can have a tendency to turn yellow over time. I also later learned that many professional tile installers refuse to use Laticrete white epoxy grout because of this issue. Because epoxy grout cures as hard as cement, the problem was extremely difficult to fix. To make matters worse, the contractor who originally installed it refused to fix the problem. I spoke with several professionals and was told that the only options were either to remove and replace all of the tile or use a grinder to remove the yellowed grout, which could chip and damage the marble. After doing extensive research, including using ChatGPT, Sir Grout was recommended as the best company for the job. There was only one person at Sir Grout who had both the experience to remove Laticrete epoxy grout and the willingness to take on such a challenging project. His name is David, and he is awesome. Not a single tile was damaged during the process, and he used a different manufacturer's white grout that will not turn yellow. Sir Grout also provides a one-year written guarantee on the grout work. In addition, the white tile itself had begun to show yellow staining, and Sir Grout was able to remove almost all of those stains as well. They Did Good Work, but.... The work appears, so far, to have been done well, but we didn't appreciate the business approach used. The Sir Grout estimator looked at the tile & grout areas we wanted cleaned and sealed. He proposed the work he felt we should do. We asked him about adding grout on the river rock shower floor and he advised against it, saying the extra grout layer would be thin and likely to crack. He also said the work needed to be scheduled during a couple days of no rain. He gave us an estimate and we signed an agreement. The two person crew arrived and immediately attempted to upsell each of the work areas, e.g., proposing to add color match grout instead of clear seal, including on the shower floor. We pointed out that the estimator recommended against that. The technician suggested the estimator didn't understand. That approach allows the estimator to low ball the work rather than describing all options available. The crew's attempt to upsell took time away from their doing the work, resulting in a later finish time. Two negotiations about the work wasted our time. Yes, we might have learned of alternate approaches to the work had we obtained multiple bids before signing a contract. Lesson learned. At completion of the work, the crew asked if the it "looked good." However, they didn't offer to do a walk through to explain when each area could be used and how to care for each area. That would have been appreciated. I called Sir Grout the next day to ask if rain that had fallen on the outdoor decks overnight might have damaged the sealant. I was told a tech would call back, but they never did. read more

The guy who is no longer with Sir Grout was not reliable after giving me a quote. I wanted a new quote on regrouting instead of restoration but couldn't get ahold of him through email. Then the next day I called the office requesting him to give me a call. He did call me in a few hours and promised he would give me another quote. Ghosted. A man so he called himself the owner, it's a franchise looked at my bathroom shower I explained what I was looking for and he said he would e mail me with a quote. I confirmed he had my e mail. My experience with Sir Grout was great. I scheduled an estimate online and Ethan confirmed and showed up on time and we discussed options for restoring the grout in the master shower, republishing the marble vanity and re-caulking the backsplash. He also looked at the caulking and backsplash in the kitchen. The quote came the next day and they had a cancellation so the work was done 2 days after the estimate. David was the technician and he did a great job. The shower was a bit tricky as the floor has dark tile and dark grout. He made the repairs, did an acid wash, completed the epoxy grout in the corners and sealed everything. Looks awesome. Matched the existing grout color very well. He brought the shine back to the dark marble vanity and it looks better than it did when first installed. The kitchen was pretty straight forward and also looks good. Did OK job for tile and countertop refurbish. Wall painting and tub refurbish was done by other companies. For a $1200.00 job with Sir Grout, I was excepting a better result. But I understand that every refurbish project comes with its limitations. The lack of sharp contrast may due to the nature of this project. More magical effects may show on other projects. read more
