Pork Steam Soup Dumplings XLB(8)-X1 猪肉小笼包(8)

Our new favorite dumpling place! The food at Hengry was absolutely incredible!! We had a small hodgepodge of shareable plates and left nothing but crumbs! The green beans were so packed with flavor and some of the best spring rolls in the city! The soup dumplings were perfect, but our overall consensus was that the Wonton in Chili oil stole the show. The place was very clean and food came out quick. Service was friendly and prompt. Already can't wait to come back!

Want amazing food and very reasonable prices? Check this place out! I had a craving for dumplings and found this incredible place! Tried the honey walnut shrimp and the crispy pork dumplings. Insanely tasty, especially the shrimp. Really hit the spot! Parking is street parking but if you don't mind walking a little, its easy to find. I will be back to try more! So perfect!

Very good dumpling house in portland. Probably the best one. It was a saturday afternoon and not too busy so we got sat and the food quickly. it is family owned and the food blew my mind. it was so flavorful and filled us perfectly with these 3 dishes. would come back!

I'm not sure why I've never seen this place be featured on any social media platform. They have some of the best food I've ever had! Stopped by on a whim as I was in the area and was craving some dumplings. Note that they only have (free) street parking. It was pretty empty when we walked in so we were seated quickly and the staff was friendly. You are then handed a paper which serves as both their menu and your ordering ticket. We ended up ordering their cucumber salad, honey walnut shrimp, rice, wonton in chili oil, pork steam soup dumplings, pork crispy deep fried dumplings, and garlic spareribs. Out of everything I ordered, I think the cucumber salad was mid. Everything else was so comforting and delicious. I'm sure I ordered way too much food for 2 people, but that left us with some delicious leftovers! The honey walnut shrimp is to die for!!!! If I were to recommend one item on their menu, it would definitely be that!! I've been here 3 or 4 times and typically order the same thing. It has never disappointed! I have them on my list of go-to places.

With the abundance of Asian places in Portland (yay!) this spot has quickly risen to be one of my favorites. 5/5 - cucumber salad has lots of flavor, garlic and a really big portion 5/5 - egg soup. Perfectly seasoned. 5/5 - chili wontons. Perfect. Meat tender, not too spicy I came in solo on a Tuesday for a quick lunch. The woman working had to deal with two unhinged individuals. One left without making a scene, the other started yelling at her, at customers, and started making a mess, throwing things. She called 911 and he finally left. It's really sad these local establishments have to suffer, daily. I say this to encourage readers to keep showing up for your local restaurants, even if something like this happens. You'll be ok.

Ordered a ton of dishes, well over $125 and pretty much enjoyed everything. Here is how it scored: Fish dumplings with basil 5/5 way better than DTF Walnut Shrimp with Pineapple 5/5 never one of my fav's but great here Spicy Fried Chicken 5/5 XLB 4/5 Cucumber Salad 4/5 Shu Mai 4/5 Panfried Pork Dumpling 4/5 Har Gow 3/5 Honestly, this is one of the best dumpling venues in PDX. Service is good and the venue clean and modern. Check it out!

I was running errands near Hengry Dumpling and decided to stop in for some takeout. I ordered a lot with the idea of having leftovers for my partner and I to eat this week when we don't have much time to cook. I got: Shrimp har gow (comes with 4) Pork shumai (comes with 4) Kung pao chicken dumplings (comes with 6) Steam veggie dumplings (comes with 8 - only thing I wouldn't order again) Salt & pepper tofu (lots of onion! yum!) It's helpful they list the # of items in each order. I enjoyed almost everything and they packaged it well for takeout. If dining in, interior has larger communal tables and some clutter, as well as beer taps.

Soup dumplings, Szechuan popcorn chicken, green onion pancake, and dumplings in chili oil. Recommend!!!

I am always on the lookout for authentic dim sum and Szechuan cuisine. This place has them both.

It was my first visit and wow. The service is sparkling! The people are nice, informative and knowledgeable. The seating is long tables, like family style. It wasn't crowded so we were by ourselves. Could have been weird if we were bunched up. The food was outstanding! So many flavors bursting in my mouth. The dumplings are made fresh and the freshness comes through in every bite. I also tried the garlic broccoli, it was the best broccoli I've had in years. I will be a return customer.

This place has been on our list for a bit. Then, FoodFaithandInterviews highlighted them, and the food looked amazing! I'm not a big popcorn chicken girl, but it just looked so good! So that's what I ordered. My partner got the noodles, and we ordered XLB and pork dumplings. We were going to eat the XLB in the car but somehow we forgot the plan. So I'm going to refrain from commenting on the dumplings as I think it would be an unfair review. XLB is meant to be eaten immediately after serving, not a half hour car ride home. They were tasty though, don't get me wrong! My popcorn chicken was yummy! I'm a big spicy fan so I didn't find it spicy, but I can see how others might. It had great flavor though. I would definitely get it again! The noodles were tasty too. And the staff were so friendly!!

For those who work 12hr shifts or get off at 7:30pm, this place was a HIT! Not a lot of options when you're looking for a place to eat, especially after work. Since it was only down the road- we were able to find a quick spot to park and walk in. It wasn't super busy. Lots of big seating options and there's also the bar section as well. We were greeted and provided with a menu where you write down what you want to order. Almost like din tai fung, but the portions were much larger and worth every penny! I didn't get to take a picture of all the food. We definitely should have asked how big the portions were because we ordered as if we were eating at DTF. We got to try a variety of things which was nice. XLB - nice subtle broth to it. Curry dumplings - nothing too special, just their dumplings with a Japanese curry on top Sweet heat dumplings - has to be my next fave here. We were debating between this and the chili oil one, but settled with this one and was not disappointed. Definitely sweet when you take that first bite and then followed by a nice hint of heat. Eggplant - hands down will order over and over again. Deep fried shrimp - big portion! And very flavorful I can't even remember what else we had. But overall the food was amazing and we will definitely be back!

The space is not very large, and there are not many tables. I ended up having to sit at the bar. Probably ordered too much for 2 people! The dumplings are handmade in house, I witnessed it :) Their filling is good--it is tender, not dense or hard, and not full of vegetable filler. Dumpling skin is also good, not too thick. Sautéed string beans were hot, delicious, and crispy. Good portion. The reason I took off a star is because 1) pan fried dumplings were not very fried, in fact, I thought they were steamed until I remembered we'd ordered pan fried! However, the sweet heat dumplings were very nicely pan fried, crispy and brown on the bottom, so I know they can do it right! Sweet heat dumplings were delicious and flavorful, with a pretty mild kick of spice. 2) the XLB did not have much soup in them!!

First time I came here was yesterday for lunch, and got a seat at the counter. I ended up ordering the chili oil wonton and the pork soup dumplings. Both were reasonably priced and comparable to Duck House in terms of quality and deliciousness. Everything is made in house; the whole time I was there there was an employee sitting there making dumplings for the dinner service. My server was plesent and showed up at the right times. I was initially concerned when I came in because there were no other customers at what should have been the start of the lunch rush. No other customers came in during my meal. My server said that most people come for dinner. When my meal came all my concern was allayed because it was delicious. It remains a mystery why this place isnt popular for lunch because its fast, affordable and delicious.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

We came to Teardrop Cocktail Lounge while visiting Portland and were genuinely impressed…read more The cocktails were excellent -- thoughtful, well-balanced, and clearly made by people who know what they're doing. One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
