I've driven by this place so many times, each time noticed how busy it was. Finally stopped in for lunch and I can't believe it took this long for me to try it. Order at the counter, take a number, then seat yourself at any of the open tables. We got a jianbing, beef noodle soup, and the chili oil wontons. Food was great! Wontons were tasty and I liked that they weren't slippery and were easy to eat with the chopsticks. The Taylor Jianbing was sensory perfection! Light, refreshing, and flavorful. The crispy wonton wrapper inside is everything, and adds the perfect crunch. We also had the beef noodle soup; the beef was perfectly tender, and while I loved the taste the soup was a little salty for me towards the end and I couldn't finish it. I got the beef noodle soup, and while the noodles had a good texture and the meat was tender, the broth was underwhelming. As it was a duck broth I feel like it could have had a deeper more meaty flavor. My friends got the yo po mian with the pork belly. While the noodles themselves were good the sauce was lacking in flavor. They ended up adding the soy sauce from a different dish to add more flavor. I also thought that for the price the portions were a bit small. However, the staff were lovely and so helpful and the food came out quickly. Bing Mi has been consistently providing the yummiest food and kindest service ever since I first tried their food in ~2017-2018. Their jianbings always perfectly satisfy the craving: the softness of the crepe batter and scrambled egg in contrast to the crunchiness of the wonton crackers and fresh veggies, paired with your protein of choice (we've had duck, sausage, tofu, mushroom and can say they all have been delicious). We like them best spicy, but any other spice levels are good as well! Perfect bite for a quick meal on the go that packs a lot of flavor and provides you with your carbs, protein, and veggies. The service was quick and friendly. You do order at the bar and pick up at the bar when ready, but the staff is available to answer any questions you may have. We did go right at lunch time on a weekday, so we had no problems finding seating, but I can imagine it can be limited on the weekends. Next time you're in Portland, you need to try their Jianbings! My spouse recommended this spot after visiting the food cart previously. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this meal left me in awe. We split two loaded jianbings: the five spice beef and the roasted duck. Never in my life have I had anything like this. The crepe was thin and soft while the cracker (think wonton texture) gave it the best kind of crunch. The flavors complimented each other particularly well and the freshness of the veggies amplified the contrast between them and the richness of the protein. You grad a menu, order up front and find a seat where it's available. No table service at this location, you bus your own table. Our highlights included the pork and cabbage dumpling and the chili oil wontons. The pork and cabbage dumpling came out STEAMING and were 5/5 so delicious. We wished the chili oil wontons came out as hot as the dumplings, they were barely room temp, but the flavor was sooo good. There is limited seating inside, I could see the tables getting full fast! During the warmer months they do have outdoor seating. Bring your coat, the restaurant itself was kept on the chilly side during the winter. Street parking is available. I never stopped by their food cart so I was glad on my first visit here they were doing the jiang bings here due to the heat. A little bit of a wait since they make them fresh to order but I ordered a couple of flavors such as the bby pork, chinese sausage, roasted duck, and double cracker. I love the simplicity of the dish but the freshness with the veggies, crispiness of the pancake, and fattiness of the protein. It's a big portion you can save for two meals but once you start it's hard to stop. Great option for breakfast! I came another time and got to enjoy their san xian dumplings, roasted duck platter, yu po mian noodles. Overall service was quick and flavors were not too salty. I would have preferred some more sauce to add on top but it didn't feel oily which gives the canvas to add more as you please. We stopped here for a quick dinner and got the vegetarian loaded jiangbings one with tofu and other with mushrooms. They were size of a full meal, and absolutely delicious. The tofu was soft and the mushrooms were perfectly spiced. The medium level of spicy was alright. I think we could have gone for a more spicier level. I wish we got the option of other meats like chicken or seafood. We also got the vegan wontons in chili oil and they were absolutely divine! I only visited for their food cart (Jianbing). There were three staff members and the young man was the only waiter. It took a considerable amount of time to place my order. After securing the only available table, I had to clean up the mess left by the previous group by myself. You also get your water and bus the table yourself here. They seemed to be struggling, and I hope this is not a common occurrence. They forgot to put meat in my full-sized Jianbing as I didn't see any after eating half of it. They then provided me with some meat on the side to let me add it to my Jianbing myself. Got a full-sized roasted duck Jianbing next. It only had a few tiny strings of roasted duck in it and I couldn't taste them. Given that their Jianbings are already on the pricey side, I don't think the roasted duck one is worth the extra cost. I didn't have high expectations for their tea eggs to be freshly made and served hot. As expected, the eggs came out very cold like they had been pre-made and refrigerated. There is room for improvement in the taste of their tea eggs. If I were to return, I would only opt for the basic classic Jianbing and it is probably the best you can find in the Portland area. read more

The pork wonton chili oil is delish! I would give it 5 stars for that but we came here for the jianbing which was pretty disappointing. They're extremely skimpy with their fillings/sauce ( classic and loaded) which is probably the reason for the excessive fried wonton wrappers in it. I couldn't eat more than a third of it at the restaurant because of this so I finished the leftovers the next day. Prior to reheating, I unwrapped it to remove the fried wonton wrappers, and to my surprise it only had 3 slices of roasted mushroom, small piece of lettuce, a few pieces of green onion, and a thin layer egg that was attached to the crepe. The star of the jianbing should not be the fried wonton wrappers. I was expecting it to have more egg, sauce, mushrooms, green onion, cilantro, and zhacai. The duck filling was also minimal as well. If I ever do come back, it'll be for the dumplings. read more

We loved their Crepes at the food cart and decided that we wanted them for lunch one weekday but when we arrived at the Nob Hill food cart, the cart was gone. We were eventually able to find that it had moved to the old space of the industrial café and now had a permanent spot. We were able to grab a spot right away despite it being lunch hours. The orders are taken at the counter before being seated and the food is then delivered to the table. The food arrived promptly. In fact the weight was perhaps 10 minutes max . We started with the spicy peanuts and I got myself a passionfruit tea. I can't put in words how much I liked passionfruit flavor in that tea-it was mildly sweet and didn't feel artificial . The noodles were amazing, chewy and full of spice. The crêpe was as good as we remembered from our previous visits . I feel like the peanuts were the only thing that didn't hit the mark ,but I did enjoy the numbing pepper. Seating inside is limited but for the lunch hours, it felt OK . The service was so below average and they ask you to tip but you order at the counter and don't get to try the food beforehand, what? The only dish that was worth going back for is you po mian dish. This dish tops any other noodles I've had from similar Chinese restaurants. The noodles were fresh and a good combination of flavorful + spicy. I also enjoyed the wonton soup as it was filling. We had also gotten the chili oil wonton which was not warm one bit which was incredibly disappointing as this dish is typically my favorite from most Chinese restaurants. Shrimp, pork and chinese chives were decent but the best part was the fact that they were filling. The 5 spice beef platter was a cold plate which we hadn't been expecting -- it'd be nice if this was noted on the menu so we'd know what to expect. In fact, you seat yourself, get your own water and if need be get your own towel to clean the tables from the previous customer. Oh, and you bus your own table.
