I took the first of a new type of class and way of painting. The studio lighting was low with candles on the stations next to our easels. The class was a contemporary painting that included new to me techniques and was inspired with a guided meditation. First we traced "Sacred Geometry" or a flower of life on the blank canvas for healing and transformation. Then a base color for grounding and next a guided meditation (my mom came through) then we to painted blind folded. It was a great experience. Timree is a genius and intentional without being stuffy or strict. I'm a long term paint club member it's great value and this class was priceless for me.

The holy grail of pottery…read more While I haven't attended a class at Costa Mesa Ceramics just yet, I visited their storefront for a pop-up artist showcase. They used both the indoor rooms and the back patio space to highlight their students work, as well as other local creators. There was a huge selection of handcrafted mugs, bowls, jewelry dishes creative knick-knacks, and more. There was a selection of other handmade art, including jewelry, leather, and screen printed goodies. I loved that they brought in a coffee and taco vendor, keeping attendees well fed and happy. I ended up purchasing a number of items, including the most beautiful ceramic chime to hang outside. Overly impressed by this little pottery store, would love to return for a future hands on class.

She was incredibly flexible with scheduling and working with me on the event planning. The location was easy to get to in Newport and the studio itself had the perfect amount of space for my group of 7 people. Be aware that you will have to pay for parking, but it's relatively inexpensive and done via app. During the event itself, Jeniece was patient and made jokes which we were very grateful for given that many of us hadn't painted or attempted visual art since high school. She provided the final product options and we voted on which we'd all complete. She was very attentive in the lesson -- she both demonstrated and walked around the class to see how we were progressing. She was incredibly positive with her feedback. I would recommend Jeniece and Art + Soul to anyone doing a work team event. Her flexibility and positivity were exactly what we needed!

We came during the week around midday, so parking was easy to find, but if you're coming on a weekend or in the evening, I'd recommend arriving early since parking is limited. Our instructor, Sage, was incredibly friendly and helpful, guiding us through the entire pottery-making process and making it feel approachable even for beginners. We made two pieces total--one hand-built and one thrown on the wheel--which was really fun and exciting to try. The whole experience was creative, relaxing, and unique. The instructors are all experienced in their respective areas and you can even see their photos and bios on the main wall when you enter the studio. They are always available at the end of class to go over what was covered in class and to answer any questions from parents as well. I am 27 years old, I'd say the class ranges from 17-70! There is about 10-ish people in the class. Each person works on their own piece- meaning she is NOT up in the front giving instructions while everyone paints the same dang thing. This is not the type of class. The classes are intimate, and very relaxed. She has everything you need to start your first masterpiece. Really, you don't need to bring a thing! You can choose any medium in the adult class- oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, ceramics, and probably even more. It's is SUCH a great place for a beginner, because you can try all the different mediums until you find one right for you, with no investment in supplies! This is rare. Sher really is a wonderful woman. She is as hands on or hands off as you need. If you need her to sit by you and walk you through every step, she's there. If you want to do you own thing she'll stop by with once or twice with encouragement and her two cents! Most students in the adult class have been going to her for years and doing their own thing, so she's always able to give extra attention to newbies. She is very chatty, it seems like everyone in the class is old friends. She has great stories to tell. I'm a bit quieter while I'm painting, but I do not find the chatter among the class distracting at all. Even though I've painted most my life, i was a bit nervous coming into a new studio- NO NEED! This is the most relaxed, kind group of people I've found. No artsy egos, no judgment, no pressure. Lastly, her children's classes and art camps seem to be super popular. Some of the parents are now in the adult class because they were jealous of how much fun the kids were having. How cool is that!
