It's been a while because I don't live in the area anymore but I stopped in today to get a white hot with everything. I was disappointed. I always thought that this place was the best for garbage plate and especially their sauce. But I guess things have changed. Let's talk about the price $7.02 for a hot dog. I figured the food would be the same or similar to the previous owners of Henrietta hots... located down the way on West Henrietta rd. Unfortunately it's not the same for me. The locals have told this Hoosier boy I have to have the "Garbage Plate" it's a Rochester original that dates back to when you were done drinking for the night you needed something to eat and this "plate" covers all the food groups and then some. I ordered mine with a burger & bbq pork. It automatically comes with: hash brown potatoes, macaroni salad, a special meat sauce and a vegetable ( I did grilled onions). It comes with bread to "mop up the grease". I could not eat it all. The service here is great and NY hospitality for sure. Bottled drinks, nothing on tap. The dining room gives that old world flair and is quiet and warm/cozy. The menu board is digital but everything in the back of the house is made from scratch. This was a totally spur of the moment choice. I had an appointment in Henrietta and wanted a grilled cheese, and decided to go all in and make it as unhealthy as possible. :) I ordered online (which I absolutely love to do) and it was ready when I got there. For a garbage plate place, it was very clean and nice inside. I normally wouldn't sit at one of these, but this one would have been fine. They also had a nice condiment bar, and I got some mayo and pickles. I don't like pickles, but I saw the reviews on here, so I grabbed some for my husband. It had two grilled cheeses, and I liked the round bread. They were both good. The fries were also good, and so was the macaroni salad. I got mayo and ranch on it, and honestly, that was a little much for me. I like things plain, and I just dip my fries, so it was just too much to have it all over it. Who knew that a slop of mess of food in a to-go box would be so delicious. We got hot dogs And cheeseburgers on ours and also added some extras like mac and cheese and nacho cheese and onions to it. They called us like garbage plate which makes sense because it's just piled full of everything and anything and it really is delicious. You can customize your plates or get it as is like they're special or you can get something completely. Not garbage plate related but we only ordered the garbage plate so we can't speak to all the other food. The meat sauce was not super spicy, it was just an average spice. The macaroni salad was not overly wet or overly dry. A nice combination of dressing to noodles. The bread and butter was delicious too. One can use it to clean up the slop on the plate, or if you're really adventurous, dip it right into the greasy meat sauce. Or you could just eat the bread and butter by itself to help wash down everything. Just know you might need a Tums or two after eating this because I mean it is exactly what it is a garbage plate. I'm not sure why this place doesn't have better reviews. We stopped here passing through town and loved the fact that their "plates" were a bit of a "choose your favorites" layout. We tried two options and the server made a point of assuring my husband tried the meat sauce (noting it was the best part). They were spicy (in a good way) and huge portions!! They do the garbage plates right! We ordered here twice after visiting the Rochester Dome Arena. They answered the phone quickly and took our order in a quick abs organized fashion. It was a fast turn around on both occasions. They got our order perfect. The pick up and payment was also pretty seamless. I loved that they had Apple Pay because it just makes things so simple. We had a long drive home so we asked for the "hot sauce" on the side. They wrapped it up in foil so it wouldn't leak and it was still leak free by the time we got home. The plates were delicious. A pool of grease and soggy gross hash browns and soggy noodles just covered in mayo with no flavor. Flavorless gray meat and bland chili sauce. Gross! They charged us extra for extra cheese and they didn't give it to us. We said no mustard and they put a ton on it. I went up to the counter to bring it to the rude older lady's attention at the counter and she looked at me and then never helped me she just ignored me. My husband and I stopped in spur of the moment after an appointment in Henrietta. We both ordered the bacon cheeseburger value plate - mine with lettuce, tomato and sauteed mushrooms, his with lettuce, tomato, jalapenos and the meat hot sauce. As a self-proclaimed garbage plate enthusiast, I feel I may have the chops to analyze any plate but in front of me. The standard plate at Henrietta Hots is very good - closer in feel and taste to the original, rather than some of the more modern offerings. Meat sauce was the highlight, and the home fries had the perfect amount of crisp. Food came out very quickly and the portion was also a good size. I used to live in Rochester while I was a student at RIT. This is my go to place. I'm a picky eater and never thought to eat food like this. Until a friend of mine got me drunk then convinced me to eat this... I was a big fan. Big enough that I eat there frequently while sober. Their garbage plate is AMAZING. I was bummed having moved to downtown because it's far away. Knowing Rochester is famous for Garbage Plate, there were many different restaurants that also makes it. After attending the Lilac Festival, my step-daughter wanted to experience a genuine garbage plate for the first time. Having grown up in Rochester, I know that they were invented at Nick Tahou's. That said, I have always thought Henrietta Hots made the best plate in town. I had not been here since the COVID-19 outbreak and was really pleased with their new location. It was extremely clean and lacked the run-down look of the old place (which I never minded). The have seating inside and a small patio outside with tables and umbrellas. The counter is immediately in front of you when you walk in with staff that all wore masks. The menu boards are well designed and I give them credit for the garbage plate cheat sheets for newbies. My step-daughter enjoyed a less traditional plate with cheese sauce and mayo as toppings (hot sauce on the side). She loved it! I devoured a traditional plate consisting of a red hot & cheeseburger over mac salad and fries with hot sauce, mustard and onions. It was so big I could not finish it. As a final note, I love the homemade pickles they make here. I was concerned that they would not have them given COVID-19. I was so excited to see that they they had them pre-portioned, in lieu of the large pickle container with tongs. Had the opportunity to swing by here as my Junior attended an open house at RIT. It was, of course, snowing ... because Rochester. IN ANY CASE, I asked for advice for where to go for the best garbage plate while I was on campus and learned that this is a very controversial question ... but was nevertheless directed here since it was close to campus. We were not disappointed. Nor were we able to finish our plates. What can I say? The staff was friendly, the menu was clear, the food was delicious. That said, I'll echo the reviews that said the mac salad was watery... but I didn't feel like that detracted from anything. Oh! And of course since this was my first time ordering a garbage plate in Rochester, I screwed up. Totally whiffed on adding any starch so I went back to the counter to see if they could add home fries after they'd already sent the order to the kitchen. I always enjoyed a plate here but seems things have gone way down hill since they moved to the new location. Just NOT good. New owners? Tasted nothing like I remembered. Quality was horrible, Mac salad was a bit slimy, Homefries were undercooked, hot sauce was watery, burgers had to be of the lowest quality you could buy. And wow! Instead of putting the sauces in the sandwich, and the wrap, they poured it all over the top of the sandwiches, and the onion rings.
