When the Goat wants donuts on his birthday.. he loves the donut holes and cinnamon rolls. Winston knows good donuts!

3 Stars. Decent donut place. It has been getting a little pricey since the COVID shutdowns. The ham and cheese croissant is good sized and nice, but I don't know if it is worth over six dollars. I went in for a plain muffin today. $3.50 for the muffin. This is basically a grab and go, takeout place. Very limited seating, but ample parking as this is located in a small strip mall on the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Muirlands. Strip mall contains a Jack In the Box (not recommended), a 99 Cents store, a closed down MiMis Cafe and a few other stores (including Advance Auto Parts). If the line is long and you are in a hurry, there is another coffee shop called The Java Bakery Cafe at the far end of the parking lot (overlooking the intersection of Muirlands and Lake Forest Drive), as well as a bakery called Brio Brio (across from the Advance Auto Store, next to an eyeglass place). I am not a fan of Brio Brio. It has rather unusual menu items, but some people I know like it.

I had breakfast at Henry's Donuts 22641 Lake Forest Dr. in Lake Forest. Even thought it was raining most of the day the place was nice and clean. The cashier was nice and friendly. For my Appetizer: I had; Ham & Cheese Croissant; It was cooked fresh that day. It was hot, juicy and flavorful! I drank a large hot cup of coffee that was freshly brewed. Delish! My Entrée was; Chicken Tamales; They had just been freshly steamed; They were Tender, fresh and tasty! For dessert: Heart Shaped Donuts; One had pink frosting and the other one was white with sprinkles. Soft and savory! Then I took an outside photo and drove off for my next review. Robert H.

Cronuts are excellent here and only $1.25 and really the highlight of Henry's donuts. Service was very friendly and prices great, we spent $8 on 8 items. Love the buttermilk bats, but pretty much everything is great here. Worth checking out while in the area!

Pork tamale is one of the best I've had in a long time. Just like homemade.

This place is the best. They have super fresh donuts in the mornings, and make the best croissant sandwiches.

Jen went with the roast beef and I ordered a submarine. They unfortunately were out of capicola, so I took their suggestion and substituted it with regular ham. For our donut choices, Jen went with a sugar donut and I had a chocolate/chocolate cake donut. Both the donut and sandwich were as good as I remembered. Bread was fresh, crisp on the outside with a chewy inside. Loaded with meat and plenty of vegetables. The donut was quite moist for a cake donut and I enjoyed the guilty pleasure. I don't go out for sandwiches or donuts that often, but this is still a top choice when I do.

We stopped by just last week and it was the most sub-par and definitive experience, unfortunately. Ordered the large potato salad, along with 3 large sandwiches and 3 chips, but they forgot to charge for the potato salad (not a problem). When packing up the whole order, they said they were not going to charge me for the potato salad separately because I didn't have cash on me and they "didn't want to pay the fee" from needing to charge credit. I get it, but also: I had just made a huge order, I had my card ready and was willing to wait the extra 3 minutes for the potato salad. I was not expecting for the guy to basically say: we're not going to sell you the potato salad. He said, "next time" to which I responded, "what do you mean next time? As in, the next time I come back you will sell me the potato salad then?" His answer: "yes" It was an awkward and weird exchange that did not feel great after years of my patronage to their small business. "Good sandwich" did not hold up to the name. 3 stars for the overall polite family that work there and their quick service. It would've been 5 had it not been for the potato salad.

With this commie inflation caused by the over spending politicians who could care less if they spend your grandkids money, it's great to see a small business like this make it through these difficult times. What really got me is after I paid the owner wrapped up an apple fritter and put it on top of the box and said "this one's for the teacher." I thought that was so special. What a great way to show your customers that you care. I highly recommend this establishment.

My big complaint today tho - I got a ham and cheese croissant and it tasted old. Like the smell of the store got soaked up into it *gag*. I was wondering why when I asked for a ham and cheese croissant, it was already in a bag in the case, ready to go. Probably got bagged at end of day yesterday and they were trying to get rid of it today before all of the other freshly made ones. If the owner see this, please don't serve old pastries. It doesn't taste good. Or at least label them as old and price at a lower price than the $6.00 that they are. On top of that, the dude behind the counter wasn't the friendliest with customer service. I don't know if he was trying to avoid using a box, but if I order a bunch of pastries, instead of bagging each and every one and handing them to me in a big pile, he could have just put them in a box. Which I ended up asking for, and he then did, begrudgingly. Based on my experience today, I would go for the donuts that are freshly made every morning, but I would be wary of getting any pastries that have already been placed in a bag in the case.
