Chicken salad sandwich with toasted rye bread.
    Kev O.

Had been reading about this place for a long time, but was never really in the area until recently, so we decided to check it out. We came early on a weekday morning and there we hardly anybody around.... so we managed to beat the crowd we'd been reading about. The place is a nicely decorated, modern, and casual café where you order at the counter, pay, take your number and go find a table either in the limited seating inside, some out front, but plenty more tables at the covered outdoor dining area. Parking is limited and I can see this place getting pretty packed during peak hours. Coming here at around 10am'ish, we decided to try some breakfast offerings and a sandwich, just for a little variety. So, we ordered an egg and cheese omelet and added mushrooms and spinach for an extra charge... with a choice of toast...we chose sourdough, and comes with a golden fried hashbrown patty. We also ordered a chicken salad sandwich worth toasted rye bread. I must say, I'm quite impressed with the quality of the food here... everything came out hot, freshly prepared, and yummy. Really nothing to complain about... but just to nitpick, the hashbrown patty, although nicely crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and really yummy good, kind of reminded me of Micky D's hashbrowns, which I used to love. I just prefer my breakfast hash browns diner style, especially at this much more classy place. Service was very nice and friendly, and we loved the outdoor patio area... a great place to enjoy a nice comforting lunch. Of course we'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area.

This is a really nice place-- great food, great service, and really pleasant eating area. My wife had the Reuben sandwich and it was very good. You can see the large amount of pastrami and cheese. The onion rings were very good as well. I had the tuna melt and it was also very good. I loved the zucchini sticks -- just perfectly cut and cooked. Why don't more places have this? Service was very good. And the covered patio offered a really nice eating experience, feeling like you're outside but with shelter from the direct sun and wind. Highly recommend!

Love the spot! Susan, the owner is such a lovely person, very kind and friendly. This is probably our 3rd or maybe 4th year eating at this restaurant. Never been a bad choice! The restaurant is always well kept, very clean, tidy, and with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Great for groups, families, couples or even if you are flying solo! It's always a great choice. Desserts are delicious, so is their pastries, and don't forget about their weekly specials! Still, highly recommended spot!

I can't believe 2 years have passed since my last review of Rose Cafe. It is still my favorite brunch place in Lake Forest. Quality food & outstanding service has brought me back to this cafe times and again. It only has 3 booths inside the cafe but the outdoor enclosed dining area has plenty tables for a couple of guests to large party. My small group of 12 people can seat together for our meetings. I like its daily specials menu so I can try different food each time I come by. It also offer halal items for anyone has dietary preferences. The tent has a large TV that usually shows a sport program and HVAC makes a cozy area in the Summer and Winter.

First time trying out this local place ! We had the croissant breakfast sandwich and the pastrami were both tasty! Staff was super friendly and fast as well as offering indoor and outdoor sitting. Over all a great local stop before running errands

Really good burrito..flavorful and satisfying. A bit on the pricey side for the area, but not surprising. Also grabbed the Dubai cheesecake for my mom and she absolutely loved it.

I adore this spot so much. Everyone that works here is so kind! I always get greeted with such a positive energy when I walk in. The food is made with care and tastes delicious. Their baked goods are so yummy and their breakfast burritos are so flavorful. The bacon is the right amount of crispy and they have just the right amount of egg in their burritos. The curly fries are seasoned to perfection and perfectly crispy! I love love love rose cafe.

Amazing lunch at the Rose Cafe for our group of 28 people and it was a complete success! From Soup to Nuts everything was just perfect! We had our annual Valentines Day event and it we could not be more pleased! Varied menu with good prices! Susan and manager Ash with their staff did an exceptional job in delighting all our attendees with perfect customer service! The outside patio was decorated for the holiday and played a major role in making us all smile and content ! Great service and good food and attention to detail! If you have never tried the Rose Cafe for either breakfast or lunch don't miss out on the best! Gary Bain Lt Col USAF ret!

I stopped by for some coffee and breakfast while waiting for my car maintenance. I ordered an almond milk latte and a Florentine omelette. The latte was rich and frothy. The omelette was good, but the sausage pieces in the omelette were not uniformly cut and there were a fair number of large chunks of sausages. Rose Cafe also sells various pastries. It seemed like their Fruity Pebbles donuts was there most popular flavor since they sold out while I was there. Overall, Rose Cafe was a fine little local cafe with a courteous service staff.

We originally found it through Yelp and saw people raving about the homemade food and it absolutely lived up to the reviews. I ordered the Denver omelet and it was excellent. The eggs were perfectly airy and creamy without being runny. The flavor was simple but spot on and the avocado paired really well with it. Nothing felt off or overdone. We also tried a few other dishes at the table. The chilaquiles were fantastic. The tortilla chips had a great crunch and were not soggy at all. Even though they looked heavily sauced in pictures the ratio was actually perfect. Enough salsa for flavor while still keeping the chips crispy. The salsa itself was very good and the egg on top was perfectly runny and yolky which was a big plus. The version with added cheese was also great. Service really stood out. One of our friends asked for no cheese on their chilaquiles and it accidentally came out with cheese. The staff handled it so kindly. They took it back immediately and as an apology one of the owners or cooks came out personally and brought us complimentary pancakes. That small gesture really showed how much they care. The owners were incredibly sweet and kept checking in asking if everything was good and sharing how much care and time they put into making everything homemade. You could genuinely feel that passion. Huge props to Forest Cafe. I would absolutely recommend it. A great little brunch and breakfast spot and definitely a place we will be coming back to.

My mom had ordered their fresh blueberry muffins and she enjoyed it along with her coffee. I didn't try the muffin this time because I wanted something savory. Next time for sure because it looks delicious. I had ordered the #1 on the menu choice of meat with eggs (any style). I ordered my plate with bacon, eggs over medium, with hash browns styled "Those Hash-browns" which has onions and bell peppers. (Not to be confused with house potatoes fyi). I also had it with a side of toasted sourdough. It had hit the spot for a breakfast plate and the price was very reasonable compared to other breakfast spots. The portions I feel were perfect. I took leftovers home (hash browns wise). I can't wait to come back with more family and friends and be able to just indulge in the yummy items of their menu. 11/10 for me.
