Walked into the shop to order but was trying to take in the menu and shop. There's just a lot going on. Whoever saw me, immediately got my attention and said she can help since I looked confused. Gheez. We got some breakfast items. Food is overwhelmingly stacked and pressed together that tastes greasy and salty. Coffee was acceptable but not memorable. We sat outside in their plastic tent that was like a hotbox. Maybe this was for Covid reasons? But why are we dealing with this tent on a hot day so many years later? Had been reading about this place for a long time, but was never really in the area until recently, so we decided to check it out. We came early on a weekday morning and there we hardly anybody around.... so we managed to beat the crowd we'd been reading about. The place is a nicely decorated, modern, and casual café where you order at the counter, pay, take your number and go find a table either in the limited seating inside, some out front, but plenty more tables at the covered outdoor dining area. Parking is limited and I can see this place getting pretty packed during peak hours. Coming here at around 10am'ish, we decided to try some breakfast offerings and a sandwich, just for a little variety. So, we ordered an egg and cheese omelet and added mushrooms and spinach for an extra charge... with a choice of toast...we chose sourdough, and comes with a golden fried hashbrown patty. We also ordered a chicken salad sandwich worth toasted rye bread. I must say, I'm quite impressed with the quality of the food here... everything came out hot, freshly prepared, and yummy. Really nothing to complain about... but just to nitpick, the hashbrown patty, although nicely crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and really yummy good, kind of reminded me of Micky D's hashbrowns, which I used to love. I just prefer my breakfast hash browns diner style, especially at this much more classy place. Service was very nice and friendly, and we loved the outdoor patio area... a great place to enjoy a nice comforting lunch. I feel like this is a hidden gem and should be way more popular than it is. It's got great breakfast staples, we love the burritos here! My daughter loves the California breakfast burrito. They have all the classics. There's also a seating area if you choose to dine in The staff has always been incredibly kind as well. This is a really nice place-- great food, great service, and really pleasant eating area. My wife had the Reuben sandwich and it was very good. You can see the large amount of pastrami and cheese. The onion rings were very good as well. I had the tuna melt and it was also very good. I loved the zucchini sticks -- just perfectly cut and cooked. Why don't more places have this? Service was very good. And the covered patio offered a really nice eating experience, feeling like you're outside but with shelter from the direct sun and wind. Highly recommend! read more

Love the spot! Susan, the owner is such a lovely person, very kind and friendly. This is probably our 3rd or maybe 4th year eating at this restaurant. Never been a bad choice! The restaurant is always well kept, very clean, tidy, and with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Great for groups, families, couples or even if you are flying solo! It's always a great choice. I can't believe 2 years have passed since my last review of Rose Cafe. It is still my favorite brunch place in Lake Forest. Quality food & outstanding service has brought me back to this cafe times and again. It only has 3 booths inside the cafe but the outdoor enclosed dining area has plenty tables for a couple of guests to large party. My small group of 12 people can seat together for our meetings. I like its daily specials menu so I can try different food each time I come by. It also offer halal items for anyone has dietary preferences. The tent has a large TV that usually shows a sport program and HVAC makes a cozy area in the Summer and Winter. read more

I've come here a couple of times now, Rose Cafe never disappoints. Not only do they have great portions but they reasonably priced and everything I've tried is flavorful and thoughtful. Even their baked goods are top notch. Counter service, you sit yourself and they bring the food to your number. Everyone is always very nice and attentive. They offer partial halal menu. The Cafe is nicely setup and has pleasant seating areas both inside and outside. I tried a couple of sandwiches there and they were both good. Can't remember what they were as I am writing this review about 6 months after I tried them. However their house coffee and tea is top notch that I've had those several times. Amazing lunch at the Rose Cafe for our group of 28 people and it was a complete success! From Soup to Nuts everything was just perfect! We had our annual Valentines Day event and it we could not be more pleased! Varied menu with good prices! I stopped by for some coffee and breakfast while waiting for my car maintenance. I ordered an almond milk latte and a Florentine omelette. The latte was rich and frothy. The omelette was good, but the sausage pieces in the omelette were not uniformly cut and there were a fair number of large chunks of sausages. Rose Cafe also sells various pastries. It seemed like their Fruity Pebbles donuts was there most popular flavor since they sold out while I was there. Seems petty in my opinion. $1 would be fine but there is no argument that egg whites cost $3 to prepare. My family owned a breakfast place for 20 years. They have a huge brunch/lunch menu, and also offer pastries on the weekends. The cafe itself is quite small, but they have a large, covered dog-friendly patio for larger groups. You order and pay the cashier first, and then staff will bring your order out to you when it's ready. They have an extensive breakfast/lunch menu, which includes breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. They also have a decent selection of pastries including donuts, croissants, baklava, cakes, pies, etc. They seem to be known for their breakfast sandwiches, so I opted for the "Classic" breakfast sandwich ($9.75) with sausage and an everything bagel (you choose the bread and protein option). I also got a hot coffee and some pastries. The pastries were decent, but while the almond claw croissant ($4.75) looked super delicious, it just didn't taste as fresh and flaky as competitors nearby). Overall, I would still come back for a quick brunch, but will probably get my pastries elsewhere. read more

I wish I wrote my review right after I came here! I forget the name of the nice lady who helped me out! Okay, so my cousin has been raving about Rose Cafe since I've told her about the Lake Forest BOGO gift card program (which sadly seems to have ended), but she kept telling me I had to try it. My co workers had zero interest so I never went. Finally, I told her you know what, since we work so close - why don't we just go together?! & we did just that and everything was great. I was able to phone in my order a day in advance for the time that I was meeting my cousin at for lunch, and the nice lady had everything ready almost exactly on the dot. I was impressed! There is plenty of seating outside and she brought the food out to us very shortly after we paid for our food. Everything about our food tasted great. Cousin got a lettuce wrapped cheeseburger with fries and I got the Rose's burrito with fries. The burrito came with egg whites, avocado, Swiss cheese, and red potatoes with no added salt. The food was delicious and the staff were SO friendly. I loved everything about the experience and wish I would have tried them sooner! Now I can't wait to come back and try more of their items! We were looking for a new eating spot, so we decided to give this place a shot even though it wasn't clear what they served initially. Rose cafe is awesome but I took a two stars off for the following: 1. Parking is rough 2. Price is high, no sides and they wanted to charge more for a simple ingredient add-on. Also i was disturbed with the overload of onions and the wacky Persian cucumber cutting style. They weren't peeled, ends were left on, and they were cut at a very thick angle I almost couldn't watch the sandwich. On another note I think the pm Bluefig concept is cool, may visit in the future. read more

A place where service and food are good! I got hit with early AM coffee & breakfast burrito cravings and decided to stop here since they have both. I arrived right when they opened and knew what I wanted to order, an Iced Vietnamese Coffee and Steak & Egg Burrito. I walked in and approached the register where the friendly worker asked if I needed help. I placed my order and patiently waited outside. Not long after, the worker found me outside and gave me my coffee, then a few short minutes after that found me once more to give me my food :'). Talk about service, and with a smile! I strolled over to my workplace down the street and opened the to-go container with my burrito, and stuck a straw in my coffee cup. I was ready. How was it? - Iced Vietnamese Coffee: Somewhat strong and a little more bitter than sweet, it tasted good. Small crushed ice allowed plenty of room so that the coffee to ice ratio was balanced. - Steak & Egg Burrito: This burrito had eggs, sliced beef, hash brown, bell peppers, onions, and cheddar cheese. Heavy, hot, and greasy. I'm not sure if the oil was from the cheese or beef, but there was quite a bit of it. Other than that it tasted pretty good. It comes with a side of salsa but I recommend getting 1 or 2 more because it was barely enough for half of the burrito. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. There's some parking in front of the business and also around the corner in the same plaza. Two spots in front are reserved for pickup orders. I've had the Grilled Chicken Wrap from here before and it was also good. I recommend giving this place a shot! read more

Cool little local spot we found on yelp with good reviews. Went on a Sunday morning soon as they opened at 8 am. Inside has about 5 tables but has lots of outdoor seating with patio covered section. The coffee was nice and fresh. The Supreme Burrito was pretty good. The rose omelette was on the bland side. Could have been a little more flavorful. Both dishes with 2 coffees were almost $50. The place was on the pricier side. The service was friendly and respectful. I give this place 4 stars because it wasn't perfect but overall not a bad place. read more
