We walked in to friendly and helpful staff, very attentive even with there being a lot of people picking up food to go and ordering. The burritos are big and very tasteful. The reviews of the breakfast burritos of this place are really impressive. I have been here a couple times and it was consistent. I wouldn't call the breakfast burrito amazing but I would say it's a very big and well executed breakfast burrito. I have only gotten the bacon. It's not overcooked and there's a generous amount of ingredients. It's simply too big for a normal person in my opinion. So, order and don't be afraid to share. I've only gotten halfway through it so far each time. They have three sauces and they are pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but they add some good additional flavor. I normally get the medium and hot, which is a green and a red. Incidentally, I haven't tried a donut here or any other items. I order from this place all the time, they would substitute the bread for a donut at no additional cost. Loved that. I last ordered this successfully 3 days ago. 3 days later they are now trying to charge extra for the donut substitution. I called and was told that it is because they were doing this too often, and they would run out of donuts, so now they charge extra for this. Why not just make more donuts? Seems dumb. They have an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, in addition to a full complement of donuts. I ordered their signature breakfast burrito. The breakfast burritos are seriously the best, packed with flavor and always fresh (get it with the green salsa!) They're super filling and perfect on the go. At approx noon today (Sunday) I decided to order a breakfast burrito online from this location and pick up. My first experience at this location a few weeks ago was great (see other review below). Searched it up on Google, then hit the website under their listing on Alicia Pkwy. Nice big "order online" button on the top 1/3 of the page. Ordered/paid for my burrito of choice, hopped in my car and headed out to grab it. Upon arrival, I waited in line, and when approached, mentioned that I was picking up an online order. The woman who spoke with me, asked if I had an order number - and I started to pull it up on my phone. Shortly thereafter, she then says that they don't do online orders, and that "I should have scrolled to the bottom of the page" to realize that it was a different location (only) that accepted online orders. She then says that she's been trying to get it fixed for a while with Google and hadn't figured out how to fix it. So first, it's my fault for not scrolling, then it's an ongoing issue she's obviously aware of. Free tip for the owner/manager of this location: a simple, "I'm really sorry for the inconvenience - and/or here's a coupon for a donut or coffee in the future" would have been the way to give good service and retain a customer. Instead, I left irritated and had to drive to another location to pick up a cold burrito. I won't be returning. On a brighter note - the person who helped me at the Trabuco location was very nice (and even smiled). read more

I had been to the Surfin Donuts location on Trabuco Rd In Mission Viejo several times and was eager to check out their new location on Alicia Pkwy near the 5 fwy. They're located in the same shopping center as Denny's, Del Taco and Dollar Tree, with plenty of free parking available. I had seen the menu on their Yelp page and decided to order the Kid's Breakfast, as I wasn't too hungry. The menu said it came with 2 mini pancakes, 1 bacon or sausage, 1 egg and 2 donut holes for $6.95. Sounded good to me! I called in my order and they said it would be $11.95. I asked why it cost more than the menu price and she said that was an old menu from 2 years ago. Wow, talk about inflation... or more like a rip off! When I arrived about 10 min later, my breakfast was ready. I peeked in the bag and asked where the 2 donut holes were, and the employee said they don't offer that anymore with the kid's breakfast. So let me get this straight... you raise the price by $5 and then take away items from the meal? Okay, got it. The pancakes were rubbery and the egg and bacon were typical. I had also ordered a pink sprinkles donut for $1.95, since the donut holes were removed from the meal, and it was dense and doughy. I brought my kids here to reward them for a job well done at the dentist. As is probably the case with most kids, they love sweets. Given that it is Lent and I gave up carbs (it's supposed to be difficult!) I could only eat eggs and sausage. They had a combo with eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, and a donut. Perfect except for the hashbrowns. They hooked me up with more sausage instead of the hashbrowns which was a solid move on their part. The food was great and my kids loved their chocolate bar. Donuts done right are in short demand in many places across the country having grown up going to the Surfin in SC coming here is always a treat now a days! Two donuts that I always get here one being an apple fritter as they are a flat squished dough circle that's fried and crispy packed with flavor and some apple chunks like you really can't ever go wrong with this one Jew yummy from start to finish! The second one I love to get here is the blueberry fritter that they only have on Sunday's like I wish I would have been in town long enough to get one of those as they are just so so so so good! Surfin' Donuts has 2 locations about 2 miles from each other, so if you do a phone order, they'll always confirm if you're ordering for the one by the freeway (this location) or the Trabuco Rd location. I found out about them randomly a little over a year ago, and have been a fan since of their BREAKFAST BURRITOS! I've had their chicken and veggie burritos, which were both good. The veggie burrito is flavored perfectly with just the right ratio of eggs, cheese, hash browns, avocado, bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions, for taste in every bite. I devour it in minutes, and you get a complimentary salsa with it- you can select from 3 heat levels. I get the non-spicy one. Delicious! Don't come here for the donuts- I've ordered their raised glazed, chocolate, cake donuts, a cinnamon roll, and they did not have the chewy donut texture I like. The donuts here are average at most, and did not taste very fresh. I've also tried their variety of donut holes- the regular glazed, sprinkles, and crumb, and had the same reaction. The donut holes did not taste fresh. One of my favorite donuts is a crumb donut, but I was disappointed with their crumb donut hole. Try another donut shop if you are craving donuts. Come here for the BREAKFAST. I'm looking forward to trying their sandwiches, quesadillas, and plates in the future. The customer service is great here, and they are always friendly and accommodating.
