Called in to place a pickup order for the family special that comes with four pieces of fish, gravy, and coleslaw. The food was prepared right at the pickup time so the coating was crispy. The fish pieces are a good size for the price. I especially appreciate that the staff member vented the packages to prevent steam from getting trapped and sogging the fish, because she knew I had a bit of a drive to get home. Definitely will order from here again.

We did a skip the dish on Henry's fish & chips . We had the haddock $9.90 x 2 Large gravy to large coleslaw . Huge portion fish box was packed full of fries Great Value . Fish was cooked great the only problem was breading on the fish was a little soft maybe from steamed in the box for delivery no ones fault there. Fries tasted great and the gravy was bang on perfection. COLESLAW was great with a lite cream dressing. They charge much less then other place so this review is based on value for your money and taste . . I will go back and back again. Also if you like fries and gravy this place is a must try . Some great feed back on there poutine which I have not tried but many locals say it's great.

Halibut on the right, Haddock on the left. Poutine on the right and fries on the left. Tartar sauce in packets

My wife and I ordered a halibut + poutine (replaced the chips) and a basa + chips They have haddock, basa, carp and halibut. Also has a family special (4 halibut+ chips +large gravy + large coleslaw for 46 tax included). Halibut+ chips = under 10 dollars (9.70ish), basa + chips is around 6.50 ish. You can replace the chips for poutine for an extra $1.70. The fish pieces are good sized. Basa was quite thick (very good). Halibut was a good size. Very moist fish with nice fairly crunchy batter. Fries are a bit soggy. Poutine is really good though and was a good portion (Don't mind the dark stuff on the right... that was an accidental pour of black pepper) They provide small bottles of condiments at the counter. Tartar sauce came in small packets. Both fish + the poutine and fries were enough to fill a pretty overweight me and my wife (Definitely not overweight but loves this stuff) Environment: Cozy, small, decorations are lacking and walls are bland. 2 barstools on either side with a few extra chairs laying around. We went at 6pm on a Monday and the place was quiet enough for us to have a nice relaxed conversation. This place don't open on Sundays and is closed on Holidays. They do close at 7pm sharp and I think opens at 11am. The store is owned by a Chinese lady and her husband. Very friendly people who's owned this restaurant for 5 years. They put a lot of work into making sure their food is safe. This may not come as a surprise to others since food safety is something many of us take for granted, but I was touched watching them inspecting and manually peeling all the potatoes to make sure it's safe for us to eat. I want people to know that immigrant families do not have it easy coming to Canada and opening restaurants like this. Mom and dad forced to work in restaurants due to language barriers in order to make a living for their child. Many people may not like the hours and may find them not opened for long enough. I hope to relay 2 things: 1. Their food is good enough for you to make a special trip there. 2. Many of these owners are working tirelessly day and night providing a good service. They worry about their own health and energy yet put up a smile for customers everyday. If they can make enough money and be able to cut hours to make sure their health is good and they have a break, then I as a customer fully supports that and will work around them. Overall, nice quiet little gem with good value for food. Wife is super happy we came here and demand that we visit again in the future.

The owners are very friendly and take true pride in their food. The portions are large, tasty, and affordable. Highly recommended!

Not authentic...halibut fish was too thin. Did not inspire what true British Fish & Chips should be. Service was fine; food.....not so much.

One star for the convoluted business that it is…read more So I arrived at the restaurant to take my mom out for a fun night of Egyptian food, the restaurant occupied two commercial units thought its very unusual why they don't unify it was one unit. One side is for takeout but patrons are sitting there to dine in and the other side is for dine in, but the employees also do take out. Confusing YES. So I arrived in blindly following a line. I eventually tapped the person behind me, is this the line to get a table. He says no it's the line to order... okay. About 20min in the line I finally get the deal what everyone is doing, they order their seafood order at the front where the precious alive seafood is stored- it's like a pick what you eat counter. So I order their sangarita with a salad and yellow rice and a calamari with no sides (you save like $4 for just skipping that). After ordering she asked if I had a table?? I said no, then she comes out with seven yellow sticky notes and says there are 6 parties waiting for a table. I asked how long? Maybe 40min. She also advises me that i can put myself on the list for a table and she can hold my order up to 45min- they won't start cooking until you have a table. So I asked how long for takeout, she says 20min. Well I did my math, I waited 20min in line, and 20min for food that is not partially cooked so 40min, I can live with that. Watched the server rip the slip, and just fyi the fish was charged at $35/kg costing $60 and the calamari at 1lb was $22. She asked me to wait on the side, saw her put the slip with the raw fish and placed it ON THE FLOOR behind the counter. As I waited on the side I can see quite a number of orders piled in Rubbermaid containers on the floor. Behind the counter I can see the coats of the employees piled up next to what looks like to be the washed cutlery for table service and the employees use the same yellow rag to wipe every cutlery. I also saw employees clear the tables and return to prepare more cutlery- did they wash their hand in the kitchen??? I was then prompt to pay on their pay unit. It prompted me tip. SKIP tip for takeout. Then she tells me it's 2% charge if I pay credit card no charge for debit. So I pay debit. I waited patiently, I stood near the washroom and overheard how a male customer found a $100 bill in the washroom and handed it to the restaurant- they didn't even ask around if anyone dropped it. Then when I had waited 30min (10min past the estimated time, I asked for an update ). They assured me 10 more minutes. Then after 10min I asked again, they said 1min. And then they came out with my take out. The gave me a complimentary hummus for the slow service, but I don't think it made up for the undersized sides they served me. Just look at my pic and look at the website photo. Overall , if you have 2-3hours this is your place. THIS PLACE WAS ABSOLUTELY CHAOS! I'm questioning food stored on the floor even though it's in a Rubbermaid and then that bin placed back on the scale, touched by the gloved hands and potentially cross contaminating food. During the whole time I didn't see anyone clean or mop the floor- what if people are trekking sidewalk salt in the winter. I am really concerned. Eat dangerously here if you want. I do say the food was seasoned well but won't be returning.

Definitely a hidden gem! Stumbled upon this place in a plaza and must I say, everything was cooked…read moreto perfection and extremely flavourful. Me and my siblings got a food platter with lobster, rice, calamari and another platter that I forgot to take a picture of with rice and fish and salad. The sause was mermaid sauce? It's a small restaurant that contains a whole bunch of booths, so I was immediately happy. (Booths are better than all other types of seating, obviously.) I wasn't sure what to get and I wasn't feeling hungry enough for a full plate of fish and chips, but then I noticed the Lunch Size Halibut. I asked if I could get that for dinner and our very helpful server said sure thing, so I was off to the races. The food arrived about 15 minutes later and indeed, it's quite a large helping. (But not so large as to be intimidating.) Everything is quite tasty, though not quite the best versions of either fish or chips I've ever had. But the halibut was prepared very well and fried perfectly, and that was true of the fries as well. I also appreciated the full bottle of tartar on the table. The small dish of coleslaw tasted fresh and delicious, too. I'm glad that Halibut House is in this busy plaza. It's a nice option before you spend hundreds of dollars at Walmart and Costco.

Some parts of the fish were so dry it was like jerky. The fries were also dry and hard. I realize that this restaurant is part of a large chain, but I did expect much better quality. I was not impressed by the fish or the fires, and there are much better options for fish and chips the same or lower prices.

On our visit, we ordered the "Chicken on Brochette" and the "Salmon Steak", and both were delicious. The chicken was well marinated and tender, the salmon was perfectly cooked, and the portions felt just right. Overall, the food quality and the relaxed atmosphere make it a nice place for a casual dinner. That said, the customer service was disappointing. They don't allow simple modifications to meals, even for dietary needs like avoiding gluten, and they weren't very friendly about it either. At one point, we asked if the blinds could be lowered because the sunlight was directly in our eyes, but they were opened again without asking us, and the response felt dismissive. It's unfortunate, because the food and setting are enjoyable, but the service makes it harder to want to come back.

The first thing that I noticed was the cool interior from the stained glass lights to the colorful walls and vintage fixtures around. Our server was very helpful in explaining the menu and we had to try their famous deli meat sandwiches where you can get a combo which comes with coleslaw or fries or get the sandwich by itself. Smoked Meat Sandwich - Decided to get the combo for this sandwich and the portion was large. The fries were a classic steak fry that were fresh and not too dense. The sandwich itself was filled to the brim with the smoked meat that was soft and had a light salty flavor. Corned Beef Sandwich - Got this one by itself and was my favorite out of the three meat options. It was a little spicy and had a richer flavor with the same soft texture. I tried a little of the pastrami as well but it didn't have too distinct a difference from the other two meat options. While the portions were big and the meat was fresh, the sandwiches didn't have too much flavor and were solely deli meat so I'd want to try some other menu items next time.
