Got the chicken mayo bowl and it was A-OK! The rice was a bit cold and there was a good amount of chicken but felt it wasn't anything too special. I believe it was the owner who ran the show and he brought out our food pretty quickly for a group of 11.

Cute authentic Korean Asian fusion restaurant. Randomly found this on Google maps and it did not disappoint! The flavour, portion sizes and prices are perfectly on par. Definitely recommend the S.C.R.S & chicken mayo bowl. So filling and delicious. I'd be interested to come back and try the other items on the menu. Really cute back story of how the restaurant came to be, ambience has a nice vibe and friendly staff and service. Love supporting local restaurants.

This Korean restaurant is my top 3 restaurants in Korean town. We ordered Coco shrimps, SCRS rice bowl and Pig Bulgogi. Everything was perfect, and it tastes delicious. SCRS is a must when you come to this restaurant. I was on cloud 9 after eating it. We will definitely come back in the summer. Highly recommended.

Major bang for buck. Lots of veggies, flavour, and you can really taste the unique personal spin the Chef has taken on Korean food. The restaurant has her cool and very personal stories posted all around. SUN ROCK CLOUD & SNOW (5/5)- Cloud Egg on top of beef + pork + zucchini + carrot + onion burger patty on a bed of rice. So delicious and satisfying to cut into the egg. DRUG SALAD (3.5/5) PORK BULGOGI (4/5) - spicy from the gochujang and great customer service for letting us substitute the rice for greens

I've seen many photos of yummy food and finally was able to try it out for myself. This is a small restaurant with not many seats but on a Saturday evening my friend and I did not have trouble finding a place to sit. The dishes looked deceptively small in the photos and my friend even ordered an appetizer. It turns out the portions aren't small at all and we were sufficiently stuffed. The coco shrimp came out piping hot, beware when immediately stuffing one in your mouth when it arrives at the table. The SCRS Original had a yolk that was in a cloud of very fluffy egg whites. The combination of meat and veggies mixed with the yolk and rice was delightful. The server kept checking in to make sure everything was okay and to see if we wanted more water. The washrooms are downstairs and the stairs are a bit steep so be careful.

Food can often tell a story, and that story can often create deeper meaning or change the way you experience the food you are about to eat. With this particular store, I was really drawn into the story of cooking authentic Korean food for students that felt homesick. So I tried some of their top dishes and they did not disappoint! The Chicken Mayo bowl was the top item and I can really see why! It's so simple yet so good, as a crispy fried chicken rice bowl topped with some kewpie mayo. This is definitely something I could've seen myself eating every day as a college student. The First Place Steak Salad was also very deserving of its title because the filet mignon really melted in my mouth! The sauce that was part of the salad was a delightfully sweet and tangy flavor that reminded me that I was essentially eating Korean barbecue, and I would never be disappointed with that! I also had the Salmon Lovers Poki Bowl which was also pretty good. But after eating the other two items first, I felt that this item didn't have as much flavor as I would've liked. The salmon was still quite fresh and I enjoyed it nonetheless!

I forgot what this noodle was but it was very good honestly, plenty of meat and udon style noodles with gravylike soup

We were looking for poke bowl for lunch and found this gem. Glad it wasn't busy bec it's a small place. Salmon Poke bowl did not disappoint. Generous portion and hefty amounts of fresh salmon! It was very satisfying. Don't forget to try their Korean Fried Chicken (honey soy garlic) it was very crispy and tasty indeed and that hint of sweetness, boy was it good! Happy tummy!

Her Chef is a take-out and small dine-in Korean-Japanese fusion restaurant. They do house private dine-in events (date, small party of friends or family) under the name One Table on Wednesday evenings, I think it would be best to call in to reserve a spot. Stopped by quickly for a quick snack. I will admit this is not a complete review but will update when I try more of their menu in the future. Food: I have only tried their coco shrimp, if you do order this please take precaution as this item can be hot (temperature-wise). The shrimp was succulent and the coconut fried batter was crispy and had the toasted coconut taste. The sweet chilli sauce had a special mix of herbs in it which complemented this quality appetizer. Service & atmosphere: The fried appetizer took time to prepare but this indicates that care is put into their food. There are two tables and bar-style seating. The owners/ staff provided good service and were friendly. Price: Prices ranged around $10, their most expensive menu item being $13. I cannot comment on portion sizes as I only ordered an appetizer. I will definitely come back to try their chicken mayo....

Wow! Hidden gem! Food was so delicious and unique. My daughter and I had a lunch together at her chef. Pleasantly surprised by the food created by the chef.

Between my sister and I, we decided to order 3 dishes, thinking that it would be enough to fill us and I was totally wrong on that because it really filled us up. The egg dish really caught my eye because it is not common to see an egg prepared that way. So we got the SCRS that contained that interesting egg, the chicken mayo bowl (our favorite out of all of them) and the steak with rice dish. I found the egg whites part to be a bit chewy, which is an odd texture for eggs. The steak with rice dish was also interesting, it was kind of difficult for me to eat it as the meat pieces were chewy and the sauce they used what something I was not really a fan of. Presentation was nice but taste was different than what I expected.

To this day, even after 5 months and in quarantine, I am still revisiting the comfort and the back story that this restaurant brings. Places like this is the reason why I find so much value in exploring restaurants, trying new food, and appreciating the intimate atmosphere that is often not quite felt at home. I don't know what else to say except to please please stop by Her Chef if you're ever in Toronto on a korean food hunt! I ordered the karaage chicken mayo-- freaking delicious crispy fried glory and the seafood soup (I don't recall the exact name)-- SO GOOD. so comforting, hints of yukgaejang flavors. :) I'm not even korean and it made me really miss home. Really grateful for this place. Please support through online delivery methods y'all!!

4.5 STARS!!!! I have to say, all restaurants downtown will ALWAYS have 0.5 stars taken away because of parking. but in terms of food, oh. my. god. I LOVE AND ADORE THEIR FOOD!!! Korean home cooking, Korean comfort food, extreme comfort food!!! Great price for the great portions!!! First time here was with a friend and her son, we ordered their Green Curry, Chicken Karagge and SCRS Original - absolute heaven. Presentation of their food, B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L and VERY photogenic!! Taste of their food? *drooling* 2nd visit and I brought my significant other here - and we ordered the same thing minus the Green Curry. Not because it's not delicious, but because there was no way we could finish all three dishes LOL.

    Cerolia K.

The egg on the SCRS bowl was super unique. It was fluffy and soft and mixed really well with the meat and rice. The portions are relatively small and I wish I ordered more. The price is really reasonable and the service is really fast. Their dalgona coffee was pretty good too - just abit sweet for me.

Lee is the one restaurant I look forward to every Summerlicious…read more One reason is that every year they create a completely new menu instead of reusing dishes from their regular menu. As an Asian fusion restaurant, I always come curious to see what new ideas the chef has come up with. The last two Summerlicious menus disappointed me a little--they felt a bit uninspired, with dishes like the vegetable curry and croquette. This year, however, the creativity is back, and I'd happily recommend Lee's Summerlicious menu again. Fried Wild Cod The crispy cod is served in an edible crispy rice basket, making it feel like sharing bread at the start of the meal. The fish is fried perfectly with a crisp exterior and moist, flaky interior. Paired with Thai sweet chili sauce, it's light, flavorful, and great for sharing. Gazpacho Picante A refreshing take on gazpacho. The avocado gives it a smoother texture, while the hint of spice adds another layer without overpowering the chilled tomato soup. Refreshing and a great appetizer. BBQ Jerk Pork Ribs Three generous ribs--almost a main course on their own. The meat is tender while still retaining a bit of bite, similar to the texture of slow-cooked jerk chicken. The jerk seasoning is excellent, coating every bite with rich, aromatic spices. Pan Roasted Salmon The salmon is beautifully cooked with a nicely caramelized exterior while remaining juicy inside. Each accompaniment brings something different: the olive tapenade is deeply savory, the parsnip purée is smooth and slightly sweet, the lima bean adds a creamy, nutty richness, and the lemon-tomato-pepper vinaigrette brightens everything with acidity and a gentle kick. Lima Bean Succotash Probably the prettiest dish on the menu--and also the most unusual. The lima beans and peas are cooked until tender without becoming mushy. The flavors are layered, but there's a subtle bitterness throughout. After asking the chef, we learned it's the natural flavor of lima beans and was intentionally preserved as part of the dish. Fried Organic Chicken The fried chicken is juicy and tender, reminding me of Japanese karaage. It comes with two fun sauces: one is rich and spicy with a hint of coconut, while the other is a sweet pineapple-lime mayo that pairs surprisingly well with the chicken. The pandan rice, however, was fairly ordinary. The desserts are still classic Lee--beautifully plated, but the flavors are more restrained. We tried the Rhubarb Almond Frangipane Tart, Lemon Mousse Panna Cotta (our favorite), and Strawberry Raspberry Monkey Bread. This year's Summerlicious reminded me why I fell in love with Lee in the first place.

I also highly recommend the wine paring they suggest having with the salad :) Everything else on the menu was done really well. The cheeseburger spring roll was quite unique, Indo think there could've been more texturally inside the actual spring roll, it was all mush in there. We walked in late after a movie on a weeknight, and there was plenty of seating; we snagged the best seat in the house right by the bar so we could watch the food be prepared. We probably ordered about half the menu and a cocktails. Highlights were the salmon aburi, which was fun to eat and a good size and the moto bun, which was extremely filling. The con of sitting at the counter is that you saw they actually fry the bread for this slightly (and towel it off) before making the sandwich, which is kind of gross, but man, was it good. It was a bit perilous getting to the bathroom up these windy stairs in the back so be aware if you have mobility or issues. Service was quick, casual and kind.

This is the American-Japanese izakaya at its most considered: a place where the concept feels genuinely inhabited rather than merely adopted. The room is intimate and unhurried, possessed of the kind of mood lighting that flatters both the food and the conversation. The atmosphere skews decidedly hipster in the best sense -- effortlessly cool without tipping into affectation. Noise levels remain convivial rather than oppressive, making it well-suited to a romantic evening or an occasion where one actually wishes to be heard. The menu is deliberately compact, a restraint that signals focus. Signatures such as the Dyno Wings, Salmon Aburi, and Hamachi Tartare reveal a kitchen fluent in the language of Japanese flavour while unafraid to let an American sensibility -- bold, satisfying, approachable -- guide the hand. Small plates arrive with the casual ease of izakaya tradition, inviting grazing and sharing in equal measure. The bar program is a particular strength; the cocktails are handled with genuine care and merit serious attention. The yolks are mixed with…read moresesame oil and kimchi paste, instead of creamy mayonnaise, creating a stiffer paste to pipe back into the egg white. I could certainly taste the nutty oil that always makes my taste buds sing, but would have liked more of the gochujong as there wasn't much heat to the egg. In fact, aside from the sesame oil these tasted like any other deviled egg. Swapping the bacon bits for chopped kimchi may give it that element it's missing and make the dish vegetarian-friendly to boot. Similarly, the kimchi was lost within the ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan mixture in the toasted kimchi ravioli ($13). Chances are any ingredient wouldn't be able to hold up against the swiggle of honey wasabi pesto piped on top of the crispy ravioli as the wasabi was so pungent and overpowering. Some reviewers rave about this dish, but I found the panko crust made it too dry and the pasta was overly chewy. It's not one I'd order again. The bulgogi sliders ($15) were good with a pile of thinly sliced sweet-soy marinated sirloin topped adorned with a perfectly cooked quail egg, which is runny so makes for a messy first bite. The sliders would be even better if there wasn't wasabi in the mayo (Té's chef certainly loves wasabi) and the buns were warm and toasted. If you really want to try the bulgogi I'd opt for one of the main dishes instead. Té's bi bim bap ($17) follows a traditional recipe where the beef is accompanied by cold sesame-marinated vegetables and a fried egg. They swap out the white rice for nuttier purple rice instead and Té's sweet chili sauce is thicker and spicier than other ones I've tried. Sadly, the bi bim bap wasn't presented in the typical hot stone bowl. That vessel is so important as it creates the crust on the bottom of the rice and the heat warms up the cold garnishes and sauce so that once everything is mixed together the flavours really melt and meld together. There's plenty of bulgogi on top of their mac and cheese ($18) and the pasta was excellent as well. I enjoyed the creamy gooey cheese sauce and the parmesan panko crisp on top adds a lovely textured crunch for those who want an extra pop of flavour.
