I love this place! It's my second visit at Herbal Spa Sauna, and I love that Aeko is the lady who helped me. I got the herbal spa special for $140 before tax. It's a Korean scrub with acupressure massage and facial treatment. It's a lovely combination and truly refreshing! You'll first enter the Himalayan sauna room. Make sure to bring the water the provide you so that you don't get dehydrated. Drink in between until you're ready to come. I know spend a good 15 -25 minutes. You know your body well so stay a long enough but not too long. The next step is for you to enter the steam room. You can probably stay between 5 - 10 minutes. Make sure to drink water before going and keep your eyes close. Once you come out, take the cold bath. It's super cold. It's almost as if you're in an ice bath. I honestly couldn't stay longer than 3 minutes. And, that's ok! Come out and just go back in lol. I love ice bath because it helps with body aches and sore joints. Once you're satisfied then jump in to the hot bath. This is a must before getting the Korean scrub. It helps open pores and releases toxins. The pressure of the scrub is sooooo good but know that Aeko's got a strong hand! It's truly amazing how much pressure she's got on you. I felt like a few knots has been fixed. Once the scrub is completed, you'll be covered in a toasted coconut oil all over you to get the full body massage. Believe me when I say that more knots felt untied or fixed! Then you'll have your fresh, chilled cucumber facial mask. This feels amazingly refreshing! Aeko also washed my hair. The shampoo/conditioner smells nice. You'll be finished with a cup of milk face wash. I feel like some of my stress has been drained. This is definitely something I'd like to do at least once every six months or once a quarter. Thank you, Aeko! Thank you, Herbal Spa Sauna!

I love this place!!! The ladies are sweet. My first time, I was the only one there and one lady sat with me. They speak limited English, but they are happy, delightful and it feels like visiting Aunties. The scrub is followed by a coconut bath and cucumber peel facial. You feel like a million bucks after. My second time I brought my 2 bff's. They loved it! The whole process w pink salt room to hot tub and massage. Experiences are what you make of them. Be open minded and enjoy the process. You are going into a different culture, respect it!!! Going again today w my neighbor!!! Fabulous

Big shout out to this beautiful lady right here. Thank you for your kindness

You know it's good when you fly in from a neighbor island just to come for a spa treatment! The Himalayan salt room is bomb and so is the steam room and the scrub is out of this world. I am so stoked to have found this gem and I look forward to all my future appointments.

    Description of "Herbal Spa Special."
    Tre B.

The only good thing about our experience was that we learned there is an inexpensive steam room: $30 for 2 hours. Everything else about our experience was, frankly, terrible. The hostesses spoke barely any English which was, I think, the cause of several problems. When we arrived, I stated very clearly, several times: I wanted a massage followed by the steam room, and my wife just wants the steam room. I don't think the hostess understood, because she kept misquoting me. She pointed to the "Herbal Spa Special" and said she would charge me for that and my wife for only the steam room. I said, okay. After changing, she directed us both to a hot rock sauna. When I tried to clarify, she just kept telling us to go in without listening to me. So, I just did. At this point, we thought this was "the steam room"; which, isn't really a steam room. So, my wife decided she would just do the "Herbal Spa Special" with me instead. We went out and asked for the change. We ended up both getting a terrible massage. I was told I could go to the bath room - which didn't have an operable steam room - and then that would be it for me. I said I didn't want the bath room, and then the lady said that was it for me. The massage literally included none of the things listed: no body scrub, no banana milk yogurt, and no cucumber facial or hair wash. My wife ended up going to the bath room and discovered that there was an operable steam room in the female section. So, she ended up using that. But, I would've saved a ton of money if the lady knew English and listened to me. As it is, I spent close to $300 for pretty much nothing that was advertised.

    Cockroach in sauna

I would not recommend this spa. It is old and dirty. Staff is not friendly and tries to make you pay in cash. After the experience you can see why! I was the only person in the men's section. As you can see from the photos there were dead cockroaches in the changing area as well as in the sauna. How do you not go I. The facilities to ensure cleanliness for your customers?

Pool was shitty smell and dirty water quality with a bandaids.
    Joe L.

Pool water is dirty and shitty smell. Bandaids float on the pool. Asked cash only to avoid income tax report. Worst spa. Nerver recommend.

Ask the Community - Herbal Spa Sauna & Salon

Are the sauna's allowed to have men and women at the same time? Or is it only men only and women only sauna rooms?

There is a men's side and women's side... no coed

Do you have a ice plunge pool?

    Yes

    Can men get body scrub?

Yes! Please give us a call if you have any further questions or would like to book an appointment.

Can men come here to just use cold plunge and sauna? And if so do you need to make an appointment or can you drop in?

We charge a fee for both women and men to use the spa. To foster a clean and healthy experience, we ask that all guests call ahead to schedule an appointment so that we do not overlap parties. Mahalo!

Are men allowed? Every place I have called so far do not allow men. If so what are the amenities for men or restrictions

We do have a men’s only spa section with a hot and cold spa, sauna, and steam room. Please give us a call to schedule a time to come by!

Do you have an area for men?

We do! Please stop by if you'd like to take a look.

As soon as you check in for your appointment, there are forms you will have to complete and while you do that, you are provided with a warm face towel and soothe the nerves and to begin your relaxation treatment. The staff member that greeted me was very warm and welcoming. You are offered a luxurious robe and slippers to wear during the entirety of your spa treatment. Prior to entering your treatment room, they ask you to wait in a beautifully curated and super cute room with a water dispenser and mixed nuts for you to enjoy while you wait. It was a whole vibe with low lighting , modern touches and such comfortable lounge chairs. Donna was the female who served me. She seemed very knowledgeable about how to better care for my skin and was thorough with each step she took. After your treatment, you have the option to take a nice, warm bath in their state of the art, delta showers and help yourself to the products in the bathroom. I can't wait to visit again :)

I had a wonderful massage experience at Uilani Spa from the moment I walked in. Everyone who works there is friendly and attentive. I was greeted with a refreshing hot towel for my hands and given a consent form to complete. Then I was escorted to the women's locker room with a bathrobe and slippers, where i changed and stored my belongings in a complimentary locker. Afterwards, I relaxed in a quiet, dimly lit lounge until my massage therapist, Yumiko, retrieved me. She expertly honed in on my problem areas before she began working on me. My shoulders were very tight and in pain while she worked on them. I heard my spine pop a few times. It's that moment of "Ahh..." when the pockets of tension you didn't know about are released and you wonder how much you were low grade suffering in daily life without realizing. I signed up for the lomi lomi massage, which I've never had before. I'm not sure if the hot towel treatment is part of every massage they do here but it's a nice touch that helps undo the knots. It's like Uilani thought of every little thing to help you relax beyond the massage itself. The massage cot can be adjusted to a seated position, which is how my massage ended. It's like they're easing you back into being vertical again. The experience continues: You go back to the lounge where you sip iced tea and eat a small crunchy snack before you leisurely make your way back to the locker room for a hot shower. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, a blow dryer, Q-tips... all provided for you. You're not rushed to pay and get out. This place is about 50% more than another place where i had a one year membership, but all the little touches they use to enhance your relaxation and enjoyment make the experience so relaxing. You didn't just get a massage, you got a full relaxing experience.

What I enjoyed: The therapists were very professional and respectful of our preferences. They sent a questionnaire ahead of time to understand what we wanted, and when I emailed with some additional requests, they were able to accommodate everything, which I really appreciated. The massage room itself was beautiful, with a big bathtub for a coconut bath after the treatment and its own bathroom. The amenities were great too: snacks, drinks, fruits, a dry sauna, steam sauna, and a waiting lounge overlooking the ocean with lay-down chairs. The lounge wasn't busy at all, and you could easily spend an hour there relaxing. Booking was easy via email and the staff was very responsive. Valet parking is included. What could've been better: The jacuzzi was out of order during our visit, and I wasn't informed ahead of time. I had to ask for a prorated rate, and the person checking us out initially didn't want to give the discount until their manager stepped in. For a big hotel-affiliated spa, I expected better communication and consistency on something like this. The showers also ran out of bath products (either shampoo or body wash), and the locker area was missing some amenities I'd expect at this price point, like makeup remover and skincare beyond generic body lotion. I also had trouble getting a receipt with my name on it initially, though they eventually sent one. One other thing to note: the spa is right above the hotel beach and pool area, so you can hear people rather than just ocean waves or spa music. It didn't bother me too much, but it's something to be aware of if you're expecting total tranquility. Despite these issues, it was still a wonderful experience and I'd recommend it for a special occasion!

It was awkward and unprofessional, and it set a bad tone right away. After I changed and put on the robe they provided, she later told me I needed to put my hair up. I didn't have a hair tie, so I asked if they had one. What made this strange is that everyone else in the spa had their hair down, and I was planning to shower anyway with shampoo and conditioner. It felt like I was being singled out. As someone with curly hair, it made me feel targeted and uncomfortable, especially since no one else was asked the same thing. She also made a comment about keeping the sauna clean, which honestly made no sense. I had just arrived and had done nothing that would make it dirty. The comment felt unnecessary and insulting. For context, I had just gotten off a 5 1/2 hour flight and couldn't check into my Airbnb yet, so I came here just to shower and kill time. Instead of feeling relaxed and welcomed, I felt judged and uncomfortable the entire time. Overall, this was not a good experience. If you're looking for a spa that's welcoming and respectful, I'd suggest going somewhere else. I personally would not return.

For me, I expect more if I'm paying a total of $187 for a 60-minute massage. FACILITY: There's a utilitarian wet sauna (e.g., no aromatherapy), dry sauna, and hot & cold pools inside; a small lounge area is outside with what appears to be a jacuzzi. I say "appears" because I just happened to notice the jets. There was no sign identifying it or explaining how to turn it on. The wet sauna was off and there was no sign explaining how to turn that on, either. PERSONAL AMENITIES: You're given a nice robe and one towel. I was only told to bring a bathing suit, so I was expecting disposal spa slippers. Nope. I had to walk everywhere barefooted, including the locker area where people (naturally) had walked in their outside shoes. Ugh. You could pick up a small tube of hand/body lotion, a small shaving kit (disposable razor & tube of generic shaving cream) and/or a small vanity kit (tiny nail file, cotton swabs & cotton pad) at the sinks. There were no snacks or even drinking water available unless you had a massage -- then you were given a bottle of water when it was over. MASSAGE: This is the first time I thought to myself, while getting a massage, "This woman could easily kill me with her bare hands!" Her hands were that strong. She'd asked me if I wanted my massage "hard" or "soft," and I replied, "medium, and we'll see how that goes." Well, it went very painfully at times -- I had to tell her repeatedly to go softer. It's a week later and my shoulders still hurt with certain movements. SERVICE: The receptionist (the only person always onsite; the masseusses and such are called in when needed) was not very gracious when I asked her how to turn on the wet sauna and only reluctantly went back and did it ... so I didn't bother to request her help to use the jacuzzi. Clear communication, in general, was lacking. For one, I was told on the phone that a bathing suit was necessary for the saunas, but once I got there, was told I could choose to just wear a towel. I've read the other reviews, and I see that they offer a kamaaina discount. No one told me that, even though I said at multiple points (on the phone and onsite) that I lived in the neighborhood. BOTTOM LINE: I'll try some other day spa next time I want to pamper myself.

I was honestly blown away by both the service and the amenities. I did the basic scrub package, which came out to around $100 total including the $50 entrance fee, and it was absolutely worth it. The entrance gives access to all the spa amenities including the charcoal sauna, red clay sauna, steam sauna, dry sauna, hot tub, and cold plunge tub. I came in around 10 AM without an appointment and they were still able to accommodate me for an 11:30 scrub, which I really appreciated. I highly recommend making an appointment though, especially if you're planning on getting a scrub or package service. I was able to experience all of the amenities, and for most of the saunas I actually had the rooms to myself, which made the experience feel even more relaxing and peaceful. Honestly, this would make a perfect solo date or even such a great girls' day activity. My scrub was done by Young, and she was amazing. She made me feel comfortable the entire time, maintained eye contact while speaking with me, was very personable, and provided such attentive service. You can tell she genuinely cares about making clients feel at ease. This was actually my second Korean spa experience in Honolulu, and honestly, the other one doesn't even compare to this level of cleanliness, service, and overall atmosphere. The only minor thing that made me slightly uncomfortable was during checkout while I was tipping -- another worker or possibly co-owner was standing directly behind me, and I wasn't sure if she was looking at the screen. It wasn't enough to ruin the experience, but it was the only moment that felt a little awkward. Other than that, my experience was amazing from start to finish. Definitely worth the visit, and I could easily see myself coming back monthly.

She also stated that if the process felt uncomfortable, I could alert her to adjust the pressure. The procedure helped to clean, exfoliate, and remove impurities from my skin. She then applied a serum of antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. The final application was sunscreen. While the untrained eye, probably couldn't SEE a difference after the HydraFacial, I could certainly FEEL the difference. Clean, fresh, and super rejuvenated! As a follow up, I came in for the Scultural Face Lift with Buccal Massage. This included lymphatic drainage (behind your ears) and microcirculation of my shoulders, neck, and jaw area. If you've never had a massage inside your mouth, try it! This helps to relax jaw muscles and many TMJ patients use this. Honey, you are worth it! Whether a special occasion or just because. They have many options in their menu of services. They also sell products to compliment all your skin care needs. God blessed you with the skin you're in, this is a great way to maintain it :)

Finally she said 6pm but we had to come in at 530pm. We said fine. At exactly 530pm she called us as we got a little lost and we're behind. She showed us the saunas, dry and wet with hot and cold pools. Our massages/scrubs were at 6pm and she said shell call us. We just got situated when our masseuse came in around 550pm. They demanded we go to our massages now which felt rushed but whatever ? The lady told me to just go and I could go to the spa later. Its a room with 4 tables and everyone is naked and exposed just FYI. No privacy. My lady starts scrubbing me throughly but then starts talks to the other lady in korean. She laughs as she says "kokori" in korean as she rubs my belly. Her and the other lady starts laughing. They gossip a bit more until I start death staring at them nakedness on the table. They begin to shush each other by saying "shhhhh". Ummm not very peaceful experience. I did the one hr combo, scrub, soap massage, scalp, facial.. and my lady was definitely not a professional masseuse lol. She was basically running her hands up and down me like a slip and slide. Her facial was her flicking my face aggressively without targeting specific muscle groups or areas. I told her to be gentle on my scalp since I was nervous at this point. When it came to check out the lady at the front/owner? Got really aggressive with me for not leaving a tip. It was pretty awkward. Not someplace I would recommend as relaxing. Although my friends person was really good, her name was Jay if you decide to go :) When we checked
