He makes really good smoothies. I got a Mango smoothie from him today! He seems like a very genuine person. Thanks Herbie!

Really good coffee. Smooth and robust. Not to mention, always feels good to keep money local!

Big size dog in a large roll with absolutely delicious toppings. Pretty similar to a 'regular' Chicago dog but with an extra large dose of that bright-green relish and with some extra delicious mayo-type dressing, and a slice of pickle. Very tasty although extremely messy to eat. Thankfully there were plenty of napkins in a tabletop dispenser. Wife had the Sonora Dog that's popular here in Tucson. Again, big sized hot dog and bun. She loved it and ate the whole thing! We also got a Tocci, the cervche. Once again, delicious. Although ours was a small, the bag of chips was topped with a rather large helping of chilled shrimp and veggies - all with a delicious sauce. These hotdogs were the best hotdogs this side of Flo's hotdogs in Cape Nedick, Maine! El Heffe is clean and sparkling. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They also have some delicious looking ice cream (hard). How in the world anyone would have room for desert after these fantastic and huge hotdogs I sure don't know!

The girl behind the counter was friendly, and the woman preparing the food was super quick. We ordered the nachos preparados with ground beef, the birria potato, and an El Hefe Dog, and shared an ube horchata to wash it all down. Everything was really good. I usually end up with plain chips when I eat nachos but these were perfectly loaded. Every bite had jalapeños, nacho cheese, or ground beef. The birria potato was also solid but my favorite was definitely the hot dog. It was packed with flavor. The ube horchata was the perfect combo and El Hefe does it really well. I'll definitely be back to try their fresas con crema or their coffee next time!

But during this recent visit, I decided to change things up. Let me tell you, the food scene in this city is incredible. I'll probably post several reviews in the coming days, but this one had to be first. Sonoran hot dogs are legendary, and everyone told me they were a must-try while in the area. Several places were recommended, but this establishment was only 10 minutes away from my location -- and yes, it was the #1 recommendation. So luck was definitely on my side. This is a family business that has been featured in dozens of YouTube videos (and probably TV shows as well). I was greeted by a very sweet and polite young lady and ordered a traditional Sonoran Dog, a carne asada taco, and an adobada taco. All I have to say is WOW. The combination of toppings on that dog was amazing. I had never tried anything like it before, and now I want more. That crispy bacon-wrapped hot dog with the beans, onions, crema... just incredible. The tacos were fantastic as well. I can't wait until I return to Tucson in two months. I'm definitely going back and will probably order three of those dogs next time. They also have plenty of seating, both outdoors and indoors, with nice cold A/C for those brutal Arizona summer days.

Matt and I decided to start hitting food trucks on the north side of town in our biweekly lunch…read more The first truck we went to was Los Compas. The menu was very complete for the various meat served. I usually like to get Cabeza but I saw that they had chorizo on the menu. Most food trucks don't sell this type of meat for some reason. I really like the spicy flavor of this meat. So I ordered it with cheese and no cabbage (I hate cabbage). I added a flavorful red sauce from the condiment bar. Perfect for me but to hot for Matt. The meat was well cooked so you didn't have any orange grease dripping out of the taco. Some of the best chorizo I have ever had at a food truck. Matt ordered his usual carne asada taco and a carne asada corameles. As you can see from the photos, he added a lot of condiments from the outstanding sauce bar. He liked both of his lunch items. They had a very good condiments bar and had plates and cups to serve what ever you want to add to your lunch. The service was fast and efficient. They even had some one to help you at the condiment bar. They had a nice covered patio and Spanish music playing on the radio. The patio was very clean and the chairs were comfortable. Since Matt never finishes his lunch and takes the remains home for dinner, they offered him a bag to put the food and condiments in to go. The only drawback I saw was the noise from the road since they are right on the edge of the road. Nothing they can do with minor noise but after awhile you don't notice it as much. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend this food truck for lunch or dinner.
