I'm hoping it's just a Covid thing, but I'd suggest finding another place. The service folks are rather grouchy and the kitchen staff seems more interested in doing dance moves and BSing than preparing food. We were given an order number but items came out one by one with no reference to the order number, just a muffled referenced to what it was. After 30 minutes I ask the lady if she could check on the main part of our breakfast that had yet to come out of the kitchen. She gave a half hearted "sure" and went about other things. Five minutes later I caught up her and had it canceled. We left hungry and went elsewhere. read more

No Starbucks in Alaska. Likely because Heritage coffee is the brand for the 49th state. Coffee, espresso, pastries, sandwiches and gelato are found here; can Starbucks make a claim to that? Didn't think so (for the gelato part). The food looked delicious especially their muffins. The blueberry muffin was quite large and have a good amount of blueberries in it. Internet is provided but a bit odd. The give you coupon codes for wifi which lasts for 15 minutes before entering another code. But they'll let you use as many codes as you need. A bit haggling to keep entering a new code for Internet but with none on the Princess ship, I'll gladly take it. read more

Grabbed a hazelnut latte and a mocha, which were both really well made and hit the spot on a particularly dreary early morning. They have a number of different syrups (regular and sugar free) to choose from. I tried the orange cranberry scone, which was so delicious and zesty. The rest of their pastries looked good as well - muffins, scones and cookies mostly. The staff were friendly and courteous - even filled my canteen with some hot water for the road. read more

The coffee here was good; I enjoyed it thoroughly. What I did not enjoy were the glares from the barista for having to fix my drink orders when they were incomplete. For example, I ordered an iced latte with whipped cream. The barista handed me an iced latte, and just said that they're out of whipped cream. So I asked how long it would be to whip up a batch, and said that I was okay waiting for it. Her response was that it would take additional time now because she had other drinks to make...the drinks for the orders AFTER mine. Other mistakes in my order include a coffee with cream, made without the cream, and completely missing another iced latte. Mistakes happen, that's not a problem. The problem was the barista's demeanor when having to fix the things she missed. I don't need to be treated like royalty when ordering coffee, but I would prefer an experience without the attitude. read more

Look, I love Heritage. I have been coming here for years. But lately I've been nothing but disappointed with their food. I don't mind that it takes so long to come out - I sit with my (delicious) coffee and read while I wait. The last few times, though, I've had to go ask about my food and every time they have forgotten it. Today they didn't believe I had ordered my sandwich and had to check receipts to make sure I wasn't lying. There was no way I paid $18 for just a coffee and muffin. visiting from Washington and decided to try some local coffee since Rookery was closed. Honestly was better off skipping coffee altogether. Went in and attempted to order their smoothies and "chillichino" and was rudely told that they couldn't make them. I settled and I ordered 2 lattes with oat milk and when I picked it up the barista had told me that none of them had oat milk... they definitely don't know what they're doing and I highly recommend looking somewhere else for coffee. read more

Coffee was okay. Our food sat in the window for about 15 minutes while 3 people behind the counter scrambled to help the cashier gather drink orders. Once we received our food we were handed our silverware without napkins so I walked up and asked for some and was handed bar napkins mind you this place is not a bar. I was excited to go to this highly recommended cafe in Juneau till I met the most ill-mannered barista we've ever encountered. The place is supposed to be where tourists from cruise ships go and you'd expect the locals to be the ambassadors of goodwill. The other staff were nice, but the barista on bar wearing purple was in a foul mood and making a judgemental face to everybody with her eyebrows raised and a smirk. I heard several complaints and she would dismiss them. She badly needs PR training. read more

This review is left for the service alone. When I first came in to get coffee and WiFi, the network said it needed a password. I asked the staff for the wifi and struggled to connect as they had no idea there was a password. Once I was connected, it said there was an error. I told the staff that there seemed to be a error with their wifi and showed them my error screen, and with a rbf she said "yep, then It looks like there's an error." and left. The second visit, a group beside us asked for some more milk in their cappuccino, and the barista replied with "That's literally what a cappuccino is." And put it back on the customer. Possibly the worst customer service I've ever seen at a coffee shop. If you want an actually good place to go, go to The Rookery, that place is amazing. read more

They serve delicious coffee! We had coffee here a few times and enjoyed breakfast one morning after hearing about their food from some others in our group. Their Breakfast Sandwiches were huge! I shared the Traditional Breakfast with Sausage Patties and Scrambled Eggs with my little boy and a bowl of Beef Stew Soup. My husband had their Oaxaca Breakfast Burrito and liked it. The burrito was just the right size, smaller than the typical breakfast burritos were used to. The place is big and comfortable. There is only a couple of coffee places in downtown Juneau, AK., and they're both called Heritage Coffee. The coffee aroma smells good as you walk in. And there is only one person working. I ordered an iced mocha while my friend got the regular iced coffee. The coffee and mocha was perfectly blended. It was good. The barista was a bit out of it mentally when we walked in. He either wasn't listening or had a brain fart when we ordered. We had to repeat ourselves a couple of times. I think it was because he was sick. He scratched his nose and coughed a couple times while he was preparing the drinks. Boy, I wished he would have washed his hands after. Anyhow, I didn't say anything about it and just paid for the drinks and left. Another bummer was no Wifi inside the store. There was a sign on the cash register that says to go across the street. Really? Oh well. I'm only a tourist here. If this no Wifi issue was around my hood, then they're better off keeping the doors locked. read more

For the first few days of our trip, everyone we met regaled us with stories of the beautiful summer they'd been having in Alaska. So much sunshine, whales on parade, eagles in flight... until the week we arrived. By the time our ship docked in Juneau, it was in the middle of a downpour. Excursions were canceled and we didn't book anything in advance figuring our options would be plentiful (and cheaper) upon arrival. Wrong. Not to say that Alaska isn't beautiful in the rain, but still, you do hope for sunshine in mid-August. So we were feeling a bit weary and out of sorts when we visited Heritage Coffee. It provided just the right mix of local Alaskan flavor with a needed dose of comfort for travelers. I can't say that the service was particularly friendly or the coffee drinks were the best I've ever had, but the mochas and hot chocolates were just what we needed to warm our bodies and revive our spirits on a cold and rainy day. We got out of the rain for a bit, regrouped, and the day improved from that point on. Some days, you just need to hit the reset button. read more

Definitely three and a half stars. Last time we were here, the Heritage Coffee was in its original location. When we were standing almost outside the original shop we were confused as there was no coffee shop there. But we knew it had to be close because the address was still on Front Street and we were walking up Front Street. We found the new, tourist-friendly store a short time later and ordered our usual 16 ounce lattes. They were almost cold, luke warm at best. My wife even had to have hers heated up as she likes hot coffee. I'm happy with warm coffee so I drank mine as served. The flavor was good but not great. Will we return? Maybe, but they do have a Starbucks in town now so it will be Starbucks next time. read more

We stopped in to take a break from walking and get some drinks. This is a lovely cafe with a wide open space, free wifi and many tables. The tables need to be wiped down and the floor swept but it wasn't terrible. You bus your own table and order at the counter so they may have been busy and been behind attending to cleaning up after people. I got a strawberry banana smoothie that was really great. It was the right texture and the perfect blend of fruit and ice. My husband got an iced coffee and said it was really good. They also serve sandwiches and pastries. I've had really bad experiences here for the month I was in Juneau. I have came here multiple times and the staff were always rude. For example, today I just wanted to grab a quick coffee. There was one customer ahead of me, so I just stood behind him and waited my turn. The customer moved out of the way and the cashier looked at me and didn't say anything. She just stepped off to the side and started playing with her phone. I greeted her (as a indication that I was ready to order). She just looked at me. So I asked if there was the line for ordering or pick up?. She was like "yeah, you can order here". And she was just plain rude. And all the other times have been similar where I've have just encounter incredibly bad service. I never get greeted (even when I greet them). They rarely ever tell me the price of my coffee and just look at me and expect me to know what my total is. Honestly, I've just had enough of their attitudes. I would never come back to any of their locations as they are all very similar. read more

This is a wonderful locally owned coffee cafe right in the heart of downtown. Their coffee is good, smoothies even better and my cheese sandwich was one of the best...maybe the best, I've ever eaten. If you're looking for a place with mediocre coffee topped with unacceptably bad customer service, this is your spot. It wasn't busy and the front ladies at the cashier took my order then I proceeded to wait at the pick up area for my drink. There was a short, tan barista with dark curly hair ruining the experience for myself and the customers ahead of me. She calls out two drinks, two gentleman came to get their coffees and asked which drink is which, her reply "I JUST SAID, this is" such and such. When it gets to my order, she forcefully slams the drink down on the counter causing the coffee to spew out. Whether you had a bad day or generally carry a bad attitude, there is no excuse to treat your customers this way especially if you work in the service industry. I was born and raised in Juneau and grew up drinking at heritage. I return to Juneau during the summers and winters for visits, this place has gone downhill and I can confidently say that I will no longer show my patronage at Heritage Coffee. Don't waste your time here, there are plenty of other places with spectacular coffee in the area that won't make you feel like you're inconveniencing them. read more

Nonetheless I'm a local coffee joint guy and Heritage fits the bill. Latte was very serviceable - 20 once comes with three shots. I added a fourth shot per my usual practice. The place was hopping with a mix of tourists and locals. That's a good sign in terms of the Alaska experience and a business plan. This is a fairly large coffee shop with quite a bit of seating. It's casual with some tables and chairs and even a couch and other comfortable chairs. You order at the counter and have a choice of coffee drinks, pastries, sandwiches. Besides coffee drinks, they sell bags of coffee and coffee accessories. They also have a gelato counter and the gelato looked good though I didn't have any. I had a latte and it was very good. A friend and I were there in the afternoon during the folk festival in town and various musicians were performing which was a lot of fun. It's a great venue for relaxing and when there is music, a lot of fun. They have free wifi so you can also get some work done if you want. read more

Half an hour ago, this was a one star review Not worth the time to wait for coffee and wifi. When asked about recommending dessert, the cashier asked "latte or cappuccino? 12 or 16 oz?" There's a lot of delay for the drinks not because there are too many tourists at once: they make 1 espresso drink at a time. The 15 min wifi is likely enough for your wait but grab your drink fast because it's kind of up for grab kind of service. Clean place with a lot of potential. Great location but wifi is not the reason why you'd be here. After activating my own wifi and seeing the 30+ paid customer wait for latte go by, like an hour later, I can start to see the calmness and feel laid back with the next 30 unsuspecting tourists walk in.... read more

Service: Excellent. The girl was very sweet and helpful. She even let me sample one of the coffees to assist me with my bean purchase. Coffee: Terrible. I hate saying this because I really wanted to like it and bring home some good beans for my coffee connoisseur friends to try. I was initially disappointed when I picked up a bag of beans and there were no flavor profile descriptions (how would you be able to choose when there are multiple bags of beans). I tried two coffees they had brewing and both were bad. I ended up just buying one because I felt bad for wasting the poor girls time. Didn't buy any beans bc they were so bad. read more
