I called them out to repair my fireplace. Paid over $200 just to look at it. The guy who came over kept shooing me out of the room while he was working. They said I needed a part they didn't have and scheduled to come out again. On the day they were supposed to come in I called to see if they had a clearer window of when they would be over, they then informed me that they were busy and rescheduling me to make sure the same technician could come back to ensure they were already familiar with the issue. The new date arrived and a NEW technician came over even though the whole reason they gave me for rescheduling day of when I CHECKED ON IT was so the same person could look at it. This guy was actually much nicer and much more informative though. But he said the first guy was wrong and that the issues and parts he'd written down weren't what was needed and that someone else would have to come out again. He got the fireplace to at least turn on but it made a horrible, loud grinding noise that got worse after he left. I called them again to double check that we could use the fireplace like he said because I didn't want to risk stressing or damaging working parts and the sound could be heard through the whole house. The person on the other end of the phone spoke to me so condescendingly. He said I was overreacting and that there wasn't a bomb in my house and my fireplace wasn't going to explode if I used it. I didn't think it would explode? I just didn't want to make a new or worse problem. Like ruining a car engine you shouldn't be using. He told me to just leave it off and shiver if I was afraid of my own fireplace. I was in disbelief and couldn't imagine him speaking to my husband had he not been on deployment and been able to make the call. They sent a NEW guy the next time who still didn't fix my fireplace. They never sent me an invoice for the second or third times they came out. I requested them but still never got them. I'm interested to see what was written on them as the issue since it changed each time. Anyway, the contractor I had work on my house for other issues looked up the problems with the fireplace and googled how to do the repair himself and didn't charge me three times to come out saying he needed different parts. So fortunately I didn't have to pay them a fourth time to come out and not help me. I think this is the first negative review I've ever written. We were first impressed with Heritage when we went into the Gorst shop thinking we needed a replacement insert for our propane fireplace when the pilot light wouldn't stay lit. We have a Mendota brand and couldn't find anyone to service it in Allyn. In the shop we were told that they thought they could fix it but if not would credit the cost of the service call to a new insert. What did we have to lose? What a great surprise. Well Thomas came out today, did the annual Maintenance and some other adjustments and it works perfectly. Thomas was so nice and explained everything. Couldn't recommend Heritage more highly. I had purchased an electric fireplace a while back from this company. I called the company to order a part for it, the heater had stopped working. They told my my fireplace was discontinued and he could not get parts for it anymore. He gave me a quote for a new fireplace which was $1,400. A long time had passed by and I had forgot about it because a $1,400 fireplace was not a priority for me. I decided to do a little research and googled the fireplace model and I was able to buy a part online for $100. Shaun and his team offered us amazing service! My wife and I are so happy with the final product and couldnt believe how quickly things got done. We're new home owners replacing a wood fireplace with a modern gas insert (something cat-proof). I couldn't get the fireplace up stairs, to come on. She walked me through all the trouble shooting.... spent a half hour, at least, trying to figure out why it wasn't coming on. Then I remembered when there was a gas leak,( because the other company installed it, and apparently, didn't do it properly) The gas co. came out and turned all the valves all the way down. Since I never turn them down, I just didn't think of it. All this was at 10 am .... at 2:30pm, I am still waiting for a callback from "the other co." to get an appt., to help me fix the problem... I stopped in here wanting to buy a log stand to put in my wood stove to lift logs off the surface. They asked me why I wanted this for a wood stove. I said I thought I needed one. They said no, you don't need one for a wood stove, just put the logs on the bottom on top of some ash. I was very impressed by their honesty. read more

After calling to be certain they would replace the gaskets in the door of my pellet stove I took the door off the stove and headed to Gorst. They don't sell the brand (Harman) pellet stove I have but the gasket material is pretty standard. I was out of there in an hour or so. The service guy took the door out to the shop, cleaned it thoroughly, including the glass, installed new gaskets and brought it back good as new. Wish the place (Rich's) I bought this stove from had this kind of service. read more

Had a great experience buying our first stove from Annie. She even gave me straight forward tips on how to get the most efficiency out of it and our home was 80 degrees last winter during the big power outage. We decided to buy a pellet grill/smoker from them after our Home Depot one failed after only 2 years. The one we bought from Jayne this summer is by far better quality. We plan on using this one for years to come. We will return this winter for logs and I know that they will be loaded in my truck before we even pay. My new home in Bremerton has 2 fireplaces with gas logs. I have been shopping for gas, furnace rated inserts.The fireplaces are quite different from each other, one being close to the floor, the other being raised. While the boxes are the same size, the surrounds are quite different and I knew this could mean that my options for each fireplace would not be the same. I am aware that these upgrades to my fireplaces will be not only somewhat costly and labor intensive, but will also affect the ambiance of my home, so I want to make a well researched and informed decision. I was very happy with the customer service I received from Custom Hearth in Poulsbo. They came to my home, measured both of my fireplaces and gave me several options. However I did not care for the options they had available through their suppliers (one brand the box was too shallow, the other brand I didn't care for the logs). I also called Economy Hearth and Home, and they were happy to schedule an appointment to come out to measure my fireplaces and give me the options that I will have available through them. When looking on Yelp, I noticed that Heritage Fireplace had high reviews (7). I decided to call them for an estimate/options. I left a message, however after a week I had not had a call back from them. This bothered me, as it indicated a lack of follow through or interest in business, but their reviews on Yelp were so good, I decided to call them again. When I called them yesterday (unfortunately did not get the name of the man who answered the phone), I explained that I had two fireplaces with gas logs that I wanted to have furnace rated inserts installed in. He asked if I had already purchased the inserts. I stated that I had not, and the reason for my call was to get an estimate on the options available and the cost of purchase and installation. He stated that it would cost between $3,500.-$6,000. per fireplace. I asked if I could schedule an appointment for someone to come out to measure my fireplaces and give me options and estimate based on my specific fireplaces. He told me that I should just measure the fireplaces, take pictures and come in to get an estimate. I explained that if I was going to be spending between $3,500-$6,000. per insert, I would rather have them measured by a professional to avoid the potential of ordering the wrong thing or being off 1/2 on my measurements. He stated that they were really busy. I stated that other companies offered the service of coming out, measuring and making sure I knew exactly which options would work. I asked if this was not something that Heritage did. He stated that he could send someone out, but it may be several months. I said thank you and hung up the phone. Really? This man stated that I would be spending a minimum of $7,000. and up to $12,000. for what I wanted, however they did not want to come to my home to ensure what I choose and order is going to work? Maybe $7,000.-$12,000. isn't much money to the man I spoke with, however for the average consumer, no matter what your income level is, that is general a big ticket item. The man was condescending in his conversation with me. Cleary not at all interested in business. Possibly Hearthside is far too busy to need any more business. Possibly they are the exclusive dealer for manufacturers that are so great people will put up with poor customer service. Possibly this was an ill trained salesperson having a bad day. I hope it wasn't the owner. I am still in the market for two furnace rated gas inserts, and am prepared to spend whatever is necessary to get what I want, but due to the horrible customer service I received, I will be shopping elsewhere. read more

My husband and I would give this business 1000 stars if we could! Heritage is the BEST! Shaun and his team flawlessly installed a beautiful Mendota Gas Fireplace in our home. There were a number of unique challenges to face going into the job. Each one was met with positivity and professionalism from cleaning out the chimney (super high pitched tile roof), to matching the the unusual fireplace facing (arched and deep and taupe colored). Our job went significantly more smoothly then our neighbors job. Once they started their project, they had to find additional companies to do each and every aspect of the installation. In our case, Shaun had his own team set up for every aspect of the job. Once we started with him, everything was taken care of from start to finish! Shaun has an incredible work ethic. I am glad I gave this business a second chance. When I emailed them, the "owner" replied, and wrote that they don't sell or service my gas fireplace model, and told me to contact the dealer. I just moved in, and have no idea who the dealer is. I was frustrated by this response, but after reading other reviews, I decided to call the shop, and I am glad I did. Mike was very helpful and knowledgeable without being pushy, and the service technician who came out, Casey, was amazing. Casey was on time, efficient, clean, thorough, and was helpful in explaining to me how the fireplace works. Heritage was the best fireplace and stove shop that I contacted. We have never owned a stove for heating before so were very unsure of what to buy/expect. Jayne and everyone that we came in contact with was VERY helpful and informative. Before I even met with her at the shop we had already exchanged several emails and had the stove all picked out. She was excellent at knowing what was suitable for our situation and offered suggestions. NO high pressure sales, only help, knowledge and information. The installers were equally helpful and professional at our house when they delivered the stove. They took the time to clean up their work area, show us how to use the stove and little tips to make it easier. They explained that there would be a paint burning smell (we have dark brown paint not flat black) for the first couple of uses. Knowing this we fired it up on the first semi-cool day, opened all the windows and tested it out. Not as bad as expected but now it is ready for winter. Great experience all around. The shop was fine, helpful when choosing a pellet stove. I purchased a Breckwell economy series sp22. The install guys were great and were done in just a few hours. My problem was the exhaust fan in the pellet stove went out after just 4 hours of operation....not impressed with the product considering it was new. Also it took them four days to get a new fan and replace it. I think they could of at least offered a few bags of pellets free of charge for the inconvenience. read more

I used them for service and they sent some guy who had no idea what he was doing, kept asking me if i had a manual although the shop assured me that they service the type of insert that I have. He couldn't figure out how to put the insert back together and still charged me for the time. i called the shop right away and told me they had a more experienced technician who would look at it if i had a problem. After smelling gas for 3 weeks, I turned off the pilot and called them. They told me they would send the same guy out again and refused to honor the promise they made me. DON'T go here! read more

Horrible customer service. For reference: I have a Mendota fireplace for which I needed to order couple of parts and unfortunately this place is the dealer in my area. So, I called this place three times last week and I'm still waiting to hear back from them. First time, I let them know what I needed, provided my name and phone # and the lady on the phone told me " we will have to look into it and will give you a call sometime today or tomorrow". No call, two days later, I called again and the same lady tells me "we have been very busy so I'm sure they are looking into but they will call you soon". Called again on Wed 25th, "we have been slammed, I will pass this on and we will give you a call" . Never heard back. Fed up, I decided to call a place in Port Angeles, they answer the phone provided me with the price and information, closed the deal $380. Although, $380 is not much I WONT ever give this place my business, no matter if they are the only option in town, I rather drive 50 miles for good customer service. read more
